I actually really like the light gray parkerized look, especially with the red wood. I actually need to re-stain a small patch on the handguard, some gun cleaner got on it and rubbed a little finish off. Nothing too huge though, so not a big deal.

You're best off having a contact in the Eastern Bloc, just purchase under $100 worth, next step up (I.E more expensive) have someone like VAFag or some other middle man order from a contact. Idk what VA is charging but I personally know a guy who sells me a 30 for 7 and a 45 for 15, I could middleman for you, beware though it is fairly sketch since you have to deal with Russian customs no matter what, I personally have some that have been held up for 2 weeks now

What's the legality of sending magazines directly from say the ukraine to the US? Free state, of course.

A friend of mine is ukrainian and his dad, who we're pretty sure is in a militia, most likely has accsess to sweet sweet bakes.

>glossy finish on a rifle

Have fun having your position revealed by the sun shining off your gat pal
>>
>>30407244
As long as the wholesale value doesn't exceed $100 USD you're safe. Just expect shit from Ukraine customs like molesting your package for weeks on end if they open it up at all, US customs may try to waggle its dick but you're legally in the right so just act good with them and you should get your mail
>>
>>30407250
sorry, what do you mean with the wholesale exceeding $100 USD?
>>
>>30407262
The wholesale value of the magazines cannot exceed $100 USD. Basically don't send him more than $100 dollars for maygezin and you should be safe, though I sent my guy 110 because 75 for mags and 35 for shipping
>wait, ATF pls, not the dog
>>
>>30407269
Gotcha. It's my friends dad who'd be giving them to us so they'll be free :^)
>>
>>30407273
Then you should be set, to be on the safe side for Ukraine customs, have him mark it "Maket" or whatever derivative of "fake/replica/airsoft" he needs, I've found that that's how these guys get all this stuff through
>>
>>30407207
I'll be here forever, even though I broke down and adopted a trip like a faggot.

I remember you mentioning that I outbid you, a few weeks after the fact actually. It's in good hands, I assure you. We are but stewards of these artifacts for the future. I've learned that some time ago.

Kinda glad to see someone is still around that gets it, this rifle is in good hands, and will be for the foreseeable future.

Have a good night, Anon. We will see you in another thread, I'm sure.

Now I'm not an expert, but my guess would be Tula/Izzy/Molot are your best bets, but they've got different versions/models/generations, I'm not actually sure who else makes them since Russian equipment manufacturing is only done by some big name military factories, unlike here in the USA, if it's coming out of a Russian crate you're pretty safe though

Good man.
Hopefully we can get some freedom back and we'll see more imports restored in the future, but as of now, it's unlikely.
Even if that does happen, those older rifles will always be cooler, simply because of when they came from.

We are definitely here forever, though.

Posting this in a fresh bread.

Im selling my MAK90 sporters, both are square back receivers, and both are what you can call "safe queens". Both have had only a few hundred rounds through each, and i'm the second owner of both.

I will be posting the pictures for both of them, pricing and description below:

The MAK90 with Fiberforce black stock is $830, comes with the original 30rd chicom mag, and numbers matching parts.

The MAK90 with original wood furniture and fuggly thumbhole stock is $950, comes with 3 like new 30rd chicom mags and WOLF carrying case.

If youre interested, reply to this post, and give me an email in which I can contact you, and you can send me your FFL that you wish to have the guns sent to. I take paypal, and can have the gun prepared, and sent off from my FFL as early as Monday morning.

Yeah, you're right.
I used to be able to buy very cheap East German 5,45x39,5 from Germany in bulk (orders of 1000s), but due to new laws I have to drive down to pick it up. I don't want to spend 3-4 days of driving and thousands in diesel/road tolls/ferries to pick it up..

Might get some Russian 5,45 from a gun store not too far away but last time I bought from him he only had like 60 rounds at a time

Pretty sad sight. I didn't know the new Kalasjnikov Concern markings were that visible, is it really like that on military order guns too? Looks cool but pretty shiny and lookie-here-y.
Is the cylindrical piston head without grooves standard on new 74Ms??

A Russian friend in St.Petersburg is coming here next month, I'll ask her to take a look on flea markets in the tourist areas for some AK magazines. Would be cool if something popped up like in that thread yesterday from the guy visiting the Moscow flea markets

Yugo underfolders have a straighter stock angle and tighter lockup than most underfolders, making them a little more comfortable to use.

Still an underfolder though, so still uncomfortable to use.

Just the typical differences between Bulgiarian parts and Russian parts. The rifle is still just an SLR104 with furniture and stuff to make it resemble a late 80s rifle and lacks the proper tiny details that differentiate Bulgarian and Russian

Like I said its just autistic small things like that, things that in order to "fix" is need to tear the rifle down and rebuild which will be just as much effort as simply buying an '88 kit and having it built.

you missed the boat, 7n6 is no longer 13cpr, 74 kits are no longer $275, and pre-sandyhoax Waffenwerks is no longer in business.

While 5.45 is still somewhat cheap, AR's pricerange has gone down substantially while AK prices have skyrocketed along with their milsurp mag prices. You could try your luck at local shops to see if you can find a decent one, and report back to us, but other than an SLR104FR, you are pretty much throwing darts in the dark.

ANd keep in mind, when you look at used ones, check inside and down the bore for rust - that cheap 7n6 is corrosive, and if they didnt clean it immediately, it'll show.

>>
>>30407035
>>30409208

I want to make sure that prospective underfolder buyers realize that your mileage may vary. The stock really isn't as uncomfortable as people make it out to be (at least with my M70AB2, maybe those steep chicom stocks are). I don't notice it at all while firing and I think it makes the gun really handy. Don't be scurred off by the dozens of people who have never owned one telling you it's some inhumane torture device.
>>
>>30410221
>Is there any reason I shouldn't get an ak74 as a first time ak buyer?
7n6 was the only worthy round. Now its just FMJ. Mags costs $40 EACH for unissued milsurp. Its really a novelty now. If you dont have a G19, I'd get one of those for now, and stock up on 9mm while its still ~13.9cpr. or I'd get a nice 20" ar with that cash, and use m193, but pretty much everything is unobtainium or stupensive after Abu Hajar shot up those queers.
>>
>>30410221
Like the other guy said, its pretty expensive compared to your other options. However, ammo is still available and on par with the cost of 7.62*39. If you want one, get one, but expect to pay a good amount for mags and stuff. I own 2 74s and I love them and find them interesting, but its a gun you will sink lots of money into.

Alright, it's the guy with the Hi-Standard again. Some people in the old thread were asking for a range report once I shot it; well, I just got back from the range, and thought I would oblige. I only put about 130 rounds through it today, hanging out with friends, but I plan on doing another review once I get through the thousand rounds I'm getting.
Anyways, here goes.

Accuracy) Hate me, but I didn't actually zero it today. I was just trying to use my limited ammo for fun with friends and didn't worry about zeroing too much. That being said, once I got used to it (me being new to the AK world), my groupings were pretty tight, just down and left. I feel like once I zero it'll be dead-on. Recoil isn't terrible, but the difference between this and my friend's M70 was noticeable, mine being a much lighter rifle.

Reliability) Again, can't say much yet since I only have around 130 rounds through it, but with that 130 rounds there were no malfunctions. I was shooting Golden Tiger FMJBT 124-grain. Only hiccup I had was the dust cover slipping a little bit backwards (but not coming off); however, I think this is my fault, because I realized after fixing it I had put the dust cover under the notch it's supposed to fit into. Also, absolutely no peening or anything on the bolt or carrier, not that that means anything with only 130 rounds.

Other notes:
-The sights are abnormally small on this. I'm gonna be getting a red dot or one of those replacement aperture sights ASAP.
-Got maglock at one point, again, being new to the AK. Not the rifle's fault but in clearing it, I fucking destroyed the Magpul mag the rifle came with. Lesson learned: maglock is fatal to non-steel mags.

Overall a really nice rifle so far, with the limited time I've had with it. For only $679, I'd say the price is right, and Atlantic's idea that it's better than a WASR without the quality of an Arsenal is correct.

What's a good estimate I should wait for until the gun panic dies down and prices go back to (hopefully) normal prices?

Can't do anything on Atlantic right now, they've shut down buying cause of the massive backlog. Should I order immediately after they reopen on the 30th, or should I wait longer, and for how long?

>using the most comfortable underfolder AK variant
>"it's not THAT bad"

Bro I own an NPAP-DF and while I love how compact it is I don't pretend it's fun to shoot for long periods compared to my other AKs.

It's less comfortable than a fixed stock. Unless you have seriously weird shooting form or a weird-shaped face.

It's not unusable by any means but my experience with them complies with the overwhelming consensus that underfolders are worse than other stock options (other than wire folders. FUCK wire folders).

>the question is why would you buy one with wood, when surplus wood is cheaper than surplus polymer?

Well I don't know. This would be my very first AK and I'm still learning differences between models, manufacturers, makes, etc.

>>30411891
Well my rationale for getting one with wood already on there is that I would just want to buy it all as one, rather than paying for the poly furniture, which I don't want, and having to pay extra for the wood. Why pay that extra when I can just get one with the wood already.

I mean, if it comes down to it, I suppose I'll swap it out, but I want to explore other options first.

I'm not really an impulse buyer unless I absolutely love it at first sight, and even then I do some research prior.

Thats good you are making an informed purchase, unlike most these shitheads who run out and buy a RAS47 even after reading theyre shit.

Unless you have a real hardon for wood, I'd stick with polymer. like my previous post said, its cheaper to buy with poly then change it later, than it is to buy with wood (if even available) and then change it to poly.

>>30411884
wtf is goin on with that FSB?

>>30411920
>Why pay that extra
suckers always want to buy US poly furniture. But combloc countries and importers cannot sell enough wood. Pretty much you would make some $ by selling off the poly and buying wood, thereby lowering the final out of pocket cost of your get-up.

Shit, why didn't I think of that. Fuck yeah I guess I'll do that.

Hey guys, I made a few posts a week or so ago about my canted Arsenal SLR-104 sights. (AC54)

Sent it off last week and I got it back this Thursday. Was only at Arsenal for 2 days which was nice. I asked nicely for a new 30 round mag for my shipping troubles and they threw a brand new one in. (still had the oil)

They fixed my sights and zeroed at 25m (without muzzle device, I don't know why they do that) Also looks like they refinished the front half of my AK.

Here's the old picture. Will post new if requested.

I don't know what exactly you mean by variety (like are you talking colors, or materials, country of origin, all that jizz?)

What I can tell you is that AKM mags are much cheaper. Like mil spec metal ones in good to excellent condition run between $10 and 15 depending on country of origin. AIM had return polish mags for 10 a pop. I used to get mine from SGammo for about $8. Some special mags go for over 50 and I saw some 103 mags at 100+ dollars once.

74 mags usually are Russian, Polish, or Bulgarian. For a milspec mag you'll pay 30 on a good day, but usually closer to 50. I haven't checked anything since all this shooting panic stirred up though, so I got no clue what's happening now. Also, always buy milspec because anything else is not made to the same standard.

I think they may have used taper pins. One side sticks out and the other side is flush. Is that bad? Seems pretty solid... I hope it holds up.
>>

All the better if they did use taper pins, and no it doesn't matter if they stick out on one side. It's good they came through and fixed it for you. Yours was the one that wouldn't zero even when it was all the way across right? That's fucked, I guess it's pretty much dead on now?

Yeah that was mine. It was fucked. I'm glad they came through, too. Heard bad stories. Sent them that picture and got a RMA not a minute later. I had to pay shipping there (about $35) but I asked and they threw an extra mag in and they paid return shipping.
(as per Arsenal tradition, my sig sauer 716 box I sent it in was absolutely destroyed on one end of the box. The rifle case I sent it in was peeking out.)

They sent me a target with 5 shots that were in a nice group. Said it was at 25m with the brake off. Just glad to have it back in my hands.

I was thinking about the 104's otherwise, but I heard that 5.45 ammo is more expensive. How much more on average? Would I just be better off getting the 104?

Ok, I have one more question in regards to furniture replacement.

Does it matter at all if the buttstock is a side-folder or under-folder? Does that change the attaching method in any way and does that inhibit a wood buttstock being placed?
>>
>>30413057
I'm guessing this question is in general, so I'll answer it.

>Does that change the attaching method in any way and does that inhibit a wood buttstock being placed?
Nobody makes wood stocks for either but you could do one for a side-folder yourself, and a wood stock for an under-folder would be impractical.
>>
>>30413185
Well, ok I guess I'll clarify.

Particularly the SLR-104, I'm seeing most of them as being folding stocks, so I'm wondering that if I get that, get the wood furniture, would the wooden stock be able to attach just fine and stay in place, or is there a mechanism from the folding action that would inhibit putting on a fixed wooden stock.
>>
>>30413264
>Particularly the SLR-104, I'm seeing most of them as being folding stocks, so I'm wondering that if I get that, get the wood furniture, would the wooden stock be able to attach just fine and stay in place, or is there a mechanism from the folding action that would inhibit putting on a fixed wooden stock.
Fucking look at the rifles you mong. Do you THINK that they're compatible. No, no they're not compatible. 100% not compatible
>>
>>30413264
All SLR 104s have a folding stock. If you want a wood stock, you'll have to take a stock meant for a regular rear trunnion and alter it to fit the folding trunnion of the 104.

If you want it to work as intended (looking in the folded position) you'd have to put in much more work into the wood stock.

Personally, I'd say just get a triangle folder, as they look pretty good with wood handguards and they aren't a pain in the ass.

I had to pay return shipping when I sent mine in. That was my only experience with Arsenal customer service and I was impressed. Cool that they sent you a free mag for your trouble (even if it comes at extremely small cost to Arsenal).

They really need to amp up their customer service if they want keep their customers, especially with all the bad info coming out about Arsenal lately, so that's a good sign.
>>

I agree. They've got dickloads of contracts sitting around for them to fill so they just shit on the civilian market.
