Let me attack this from a scientific and logistics standpoint.

The scientific:
So assuming the Centaur uses a hind gut fermentation gastric system like a horse to support it's large frame, it is going to require high quality forage (carefully grown and harvested hay, certain grasses, certain legumes) and supplemental protein and minerals (soy/corn/mineral/fat mixed ration). Both of these are expensive and difficult to source outside the US.

Logistical:
A safe (very low) estimate for how much forage and mixed ration a working horse needs in a day is about 15-25 pounds of HIGH QUALITY forage and 5 pounds of mixed ration. If we consider the energy necessary to run the human brain, we can imagine they'll need at least double the mixed ration to get the fat and protein just for energy of maintenance.

Therefore, a squad of 6 centaurs would need, at the absolute minimum, 180 pounds of food per day. If they went on a 3 day patrol, they would need to carry with them 540 pounds of food. 360 pounds of which would an in the form of 4 or 5 square bales of hay that are extremely flammable and ruin overnight if they get wet.

It's a multimillion dollar industry already. The best you can do is dehydrated alfalfa cubes but they have significantly less nutritive value than regular forage and it would be near impossible to meet the maintenance requirement for a horse with just those and ration.

You must also realize that removing water from feedstufs means you must add that water back by increasing their water ration for the day, which is already over 10 gallons per animal. Remember that math in my last post? Water for 6 horses for 72 hours would weigh 1440 pounds. So were at a literal, 2000 pound, ton of just food and water.

You're looking at this in the completely wrong way. Centaurs would have been a significant part of the military for thousands of years, only stopping being in widespread mainline use roughly a hundred years ago. Hell, right up until WW2, the US still believed horse cavalry would be relevant. They were even used to decent effect in the Philippines. Centaurs would be very entrenched in the military. And we all know that the brass doesn't always make rational decisions, especially when it affects them or the things they like and/or identify with. Thus, centaurs would likely have always been in the military.

What would be some good monster species that could be easily incorporated into the military?

Trolls and ogres likely would be great as heavy support, as other pointed out, but probably would really need a good leader to smack them upside the head and follow order (more so than your average human grunt).

Centaurs looks to be as though they'd need some really big special accommodations and probably formed into special units.

If X-Com is anything to go by, sneks would be a quite a threat to any enemy forces, not to mention fast prone firing, and can probably climb better.

I could see satyrs being invaluable, and probably not to difficult to incorporate. If they're anything like goats, walls mean absolutely nothing. Would likely need to prune their horns every so often, due to helmets. Probably also maybe do not have the same endurance as a human grunt, or maybe similar. The issue comes down to their hooves and if it'd wreck their legs more than a feet with humans. Probably also need to shave their legs often too.

Orcs, lets use D&D's version for the ease of it, would likely just be bigger, stronger humans, so no issues there. Biggest problem I could see is heavy amounts of insubordination and would likely require a very headstrong (and strong) leader to keep them in line, else risk a mutiny. Would likely serve very well in combat, though.

I feel like Centaurs would be really useful in a light infantry roll. Foot patrols in places like Afghanistan, etc. They can have the utility of a horse, with all the capability of a foot soldier.

Ammo-bearer Centaur, Medic Centaur. Or maybe a Light Support Centaur with an M240 and one of those fancy feed systems attached to a few thousand rounds on their back, decked out in Class IV plates.

I'd assume that even a small centaur would be able to carry a lot more than a human, so there's no need for some 7 foot tall thoroughbred. A mule can carry almost 200 pounds, so assuming a centaur has similar capabilities a mule-sized centaur would be a really valuable asset in an area where vehicle's can't be used.

None, save for being beasts of burden or behind-the-lines support. Something as large as a horse but without the armor of an APC or a tank is just a great big bullseye for the enemy. Pic related is something called a tankette. It was a design for a small, one-person tank armed with only a machine gun. It's design was abandoned in WWII because something that small couldn't possibly carry the armaments to destroy a tank, the armor to stop it's shells, or a strong enough engine to outmaneuver it. It also lacked the space for a proper turret, so most tankettes had either a hull-mounted weapon only or a hand-traversed turret. Using a centaur multiplies these problems, especially in the modern day.
No human could hope to carry a cannon large enough to destroy a T-90 or M1 Abrams, much less the ammunition. Of course, the beast could carry an ATGM, but keep in mind that one TOW missile weighs 23 KG, and that's just the rocket and not the tripod and launcher. Most common horses can carry about 110 KG, by the way. There's a reason we use trucks to carry those things, and a team to set them up and fire them.
In terms of armor, the centaur has none that would help. Even kevlar barding with ceramic plates wouldn't help, because those plus the """""human""""" half's armor would further encumber the creature. Besides, even if it's armor defeats the small arms fire inevetably directed at it, there's no way in hell it's armor can stop a shot from a tank cannon,. Even if it does miraculously stop the AP shell that's hurtling toward it, the beast will certainty be sent flying far from the hit and possibly straight up dying from the impact of the shell. Even if it somehow isn't splattered by the shell, it doesn't have the advantage of a tank of being wider than it is tall, so will be knocked over with all certainty.

In terms of outmaneuvering the enemy: the fastest horse in the world could run 30 MPH. The M1 Abrams can go 45 MPH, and a humvee can go over 70 MPH. Not much else to say.
Lastly, the turret problem. Even assuming the centaur can carry the same kind of guns and ammo as a tank or APC, it has to physically heft and aim the gun with sheer muscle power rather than being assisted by a mechanically-traversing turret. Even hand-traversed turrets have the advantage of more stability than by hand. They also face the problem of hull weapons, because unlike humans they can't turn in place to face an enemy and unlike modern tanks they can't turn a turret to engage an enemy to the side or back.

Oh yeah, they also can't go prone, enter most buildings, or sneak around to any conceivable measure, but that was probably obvious just by looking at it.

This is not a reasonable argument. Just because something is not invincible does not mean that it is useless. That same token would have to apply to infantry as well, and as we well know infantry are far from useless. Not saying centaurs have a use in the present day, just that this argument is not in fact a reasonable argument upon which even the slightest weight can be placed.

Neither are centaurs. They aren't too big. They're nowhere near 12 feet tall. The height to the whither of a thoroughbred is roughly 5 and a bit feet. Total height would be a MAXIMUM of 9 or so feet, standing up. If you have horses which are smaller than a thoroughbred, as you probably would, you'd be down to the height of a tall man.
