Let's do more than just post our gear and shopping carts. Let's discuss uses and situations for our gear and even drills and tactics. I'm interested in how everyone trains with their gear.

Just got this new mini-mav to use for 3 gun and square range training.

Still trying to decide how to lay it all out.

My local range has a 3 gun set up now, but it's pretty basic and the rifle targets only go out to 50m. Still better than ringing steel gongs from the bench, I guess.

You can say what you want about airshit, but at least you're actually using it for something.

Most people just have their stuff for a SHTF scenario that might never occur, for you it's actually fulfilling a purpose.

Reposting in new thread.

What do you guys think of a duty belt as a kind of gray-man battle belt? I'm thinking just a normal black duty belt with holster, two pistol mag pouches, a flashlight pouch, and MAYBE an AR mag pouch. Thoughts? Is it too black? Still too stand-outish?

And to the guys who replied;
So are you guys saying that a plain black duty belt will work fine? Or are you saying to just get a battle belt and it can either be covered easy or no one notices them?
>>
Question.
What's a good pack for some serious camping? I'm planning on going out to Big Bend national park in Texas and spending around five to ten days where I have no cell signal, people, or anything like that.
>>
>>30382905
Duty belt would be easier to hide under a light jacket or something, but why grey man?

>>30382956
milsurp or new?
>>
>>30382905
I think it's hard to be gray man when you're carrying in the open.

If you've got the rifle out how is a chest rig to overt?
>>
>>30382984
Milsurp world be preferred, not necessary.
>>
>>30381931
When you remove the antenna off the body of the radio like that you loose 1.5-3dB in signal strength per RF connector, and there's two connectors involved. It's normally done to accommodate a much larger antenna and the connector losses are not a big deal. So it's kind of ridiculous seeing it done with a rubber duck antenna.

I hike with my pack a few miles, a few days a week. I also go backpacking with this pack, usually knock out 20 miles or so in a weekend. I only wear my PC and hump around with my rifle when I'm on family acreage up north. Wish I could hit the trails in full gear without crunchy hikers going nuts.

I like to hike and backpack. Puts all my gear bits to good use, knives, flashlights, mutli-tool, clothing, camelback, backpack, camp gear, etc. But I'm a student right now so shooting is expensive as fuck and I sold most of my guns for the time being. I somehow find money to buy gear shit tho (which I love and hate). But I should be slowing down on acquiring gear now that I have my desired three things (Tan, Green, Poor)

But training? Gym few days a week(3-5, depending on how lazy of a sack of shit i feel like being that week), try to do a full day activity at least one full day on the weekends (backpacking or hiking). Gf is doing a EMR course right now so me and her are doing lots of first aid stuff, helps us both stay sharp. Tacticool and shooting will have to wait for now.

Obligatory gear picture

I've been focusing on close quarters defensive pistol use. I use a cheap, but surprisingly accurate plastic toy gun as a rubber duck to practice drawing and firing while being attacked by a buddy.

I hike with my pack and belt, but usually no chest rig or long gun.

Lots of innagym training to keep physicality up.

I read through the 'old SMCT books because I'm a nerd.

im a guardsman infantry, which is similarly funded. i dont know much about cav scouts, but you work mostly as recon for armor groups and combat armor brigades right? that means vehicles. which to me sounds like armor carrier small packs, and light equipment, because you should have a resupply and a support by fire. (your vehicles)

>>30384646
I'm not from the us but yeah here the the cav scouts are either mounted in light vehicles or a part of a dismounted recon unit which I beleive I will start out in until I complete the driver qualifications and depending on what positions are needed to fill I suppose

the pad is what $80? and the inner belt doesnt have to be a cobra belt, but even those max out at $70

so you know, $150 max. not $200.

first spear sells a $115 pad.

and you could always go cheaper. eahle industries belt, $20. ive got one it works fine

a law enforcemnt duty belt with first spear belt keepers for your molle pouches, thats cheap.

using a duty belt as the inner belt for a cheap pad like the shellback tactical warfighter on clearance on tactical assault gear, $60

an alice belt with a blackhawk! alice molle pad.

theres options out there man.

My absolute favorite cargo/tactical pant. Forget about 5.11, Blackhawk!, etc. I own a few of each, but they just don't compare.

Its possible to cheap out on the inner belt, it will see far less wear being inside the other, I don't know how cheap one might want to go but options exist... like really cheap options.

Mystery Ranch make excellent packs. Pricy, but you won't need to buy another. They are built solid and they make "military" and "civilian" variants. I've got a military 6500 pack. It's been really good to me for living out of. They come in tan, multicam, or you can get older ones used in grey.

I have never gone the poncho route as a coverall. Instead, I use wet weather clothing for myself and a pack cover for the bag. You can get elastic pack covers at any camping store, or get a milsurp one if you wanna be tacticool.

My wet weather clothing is an oversized rain jacket with a hood and an optional early gen military black fleece or waffle top if it is cold enough underneath.

I think this is the better place to post than camo general, but I could be wrong.

I'm looking to get a full set of gear, but I'm unhealthily into aesthetics. Will all green gear (OD probably, but maybe ranger green?) work with any camo? Specifically tiger stripe and flectarn patterns? (two of my favorites) Does anybody have any pictures to this effect?

I just ordered a us palm defender carrier from a overstock sale. Got it for $50! Gonna get some ar500 plates for it, and I'm not sure on pouches. Thinking 2 mag pouches for my 300 blackout, then a small ifak besides that. Would like to find a way to attach one of my fix blades and my beofeng, but I don't want it to be bulky and big.
I live way back innawoods. Been shot at a few times. Long wait for police and medical attention. So I want something I can keep in my jeep incase shtf, which it often does here.
Also want low pro incase I'm out and about in a city and things get sketchy, I can wear it under a large shirt or jacket .

My last answer was kinda shitty

>at home
Familiarize myself with my kit.
Knowing where and what is in my rig and how to retrieve in the dark without making a huge mess.

I sometimes wear my Chicom and just practice taking out mags while browsing 4chan or watching a movie.
Building the muscle memory on how to work the toggle: left-hand, right-hand, gloved, ungloved.
So much so, I become fluid and comfortable working in it.

Take my rifle
rest the buttstock to my bicep
Focus on a target and bringing my gun to what I'm focusing on

Dryfire drills.

>range
Range time is just range time with me.
Chest rig , no chest rig
Gear, No gear
I just work on not building any training scars.

Okie here

Gorkas are just heavy windproof suits
They're only good for below 60*F windy weather anything above that you're better off wearing something more lightweight.

Plate carriers choices change based on the individual.
Check out these options, and think about how you will use your kit.
London Bridge Trading 6094 ~ $398
Mayflower APC ~ $220
Crye Precision JPC ~ $249
Tyr BPC ~ $259

some questions and answer that might be useful
Will you use a car?
No, then you can use the molle space if you plan on hoofing it everywhere, and your packs to never sit right.
Do you want it to be scalable?
Yes, then check out the slick systems, and swift clip systems.
How much of a comfy prone do you want?
Very comfy, Then look at single mag pouches and don't put extra crap on the front of your vest.

I mean, I have the stt and for a while, I bitched about it 24/7.
Tubes means no Velcro hat

Tubes means a fast don/soft yay

The side tubes means less molle estate. Which kinda sucks.

The things I took from the game was Aggression, Suppression, and Communication.
Those 3 being huge if you want to win.

As well as cover manipulation

Damn, I couldn't add my own review.

"This product was a great purchase. Islamic law states I cannot allow my Quran to touch the ground or be touched without washing myself first. This cover is great for these rules and allows me to praise god when I am camping and out shooting! Thanks guys for a great product! Praise Allah and his one True profit Muhammad. Peace be upon him. I've been looking around for a plate carrier. Problem is that a lot are in the $200-300 range.

AWS OCPC

http://www.awsin.com/proddetail.asp?prod=52813

-Made here in Muricuh by a proven manufacturer
-Basically stitch for stitch the same as an LBT 6094, which is a proven carrier in use by SOF worldwide
-Uses heavier 1000 denier outer fabric instead of less durable 500 denier that LBT uses
- Same day shipping
- Size medium will fit 10x12 ar500/ceramic plates
- 150 Bones for the OCPC instead of 400 for the 6094

Why buy some dumpy looking vest when you can instead buy something that's high speed?

The banshee is still $180
The new patriot pc has that fromt velcro but the front flap is 5 wide instead of 6 wide. Some shingle pouches like the usgi 3 ma pouch actually only use 5 molle collumns, so thats what i think they had in mind. There's always ebay for a eagle industries pc

Rubber bands, or a TQ pouch that's marked.

You're supposed to carry them out of the plastic, already looped, and ready for use.

If you're military, it's very common to put them in shoulder and/or leg pockets. About the only thing those ankle pockets are good for.
>>
>>30400397
AWS is a known quantity, they have been making small runs for SF types for a while, and there were some contract overruns for sterile clones of MR packs and the mayflower blowout kit on their website. I believe they are the OEM for the Ronin Tactics belts and the Ronin Tactics plate carrier as well.
>>
>>30400399
Well in the Army you're issued two tourniquets in quick-release pouches. You pull on a loop and it unbuttons right there. It can be attached like normal PALS shit, or horizontally with velcro bands. Vertical it covers 3 ladders, horizontal it covers 4
