Who makes a solid mid tier plate carrier? Budget of $600, ideally could get PC and plates for that amount. Is this possible?
>>
>>30379178
get an used IBA vest + surplus german lv4 plates / new AR500's lv3+ plates.

total of 200-300$.

here's some PC options, pic related. there are a lot of plate options, I suggest level IV ceramic. relatively affordable options include armourwear, midwest armor and currently HighCom is running 20% off. stop by the /gq/ threads, lots of knowledgable people in there.
>>
I just received a BulletSafe alpha vest. Seems well made but may be out of your budget if you want the add-on ceramic plates for level IV. Worth a look

OT General question re fit: the waist portion is too big. Imagine a bell, it's like that. Neck/shoulders is good. Anyone with experience have an opinion On if this is an issue/nonissue? I don't think I could eat enough to make it snug. A size smaller may be too small
>>
>>30379178
>>30379482
Pick from that list and then buy Highcom plates.
>>
Not op but also getting ready for plates.
Would it be bad to use a front plate on my back?
Would the cut and bend feel weird?
My theory is if a I get shot in the front wearing ceramic it'll shatter and I can just pull plate from back in the field.
Thanks in advance.
>>
>>30379178
Check out the Mayflower APC. the carrier runs around $200 and then you can get 2 lvl 3+ plates for around $200
>>
>>30379178
Take that $600 and invest in the best ceramics you can.
Take whatever's left and save it for something you want or get an AWS PC or slickster from Ferro Concepts

fuck no, ibas suck dick.

anyhow, hicom lvl ivs are like $150 each or so, and there's a lot of ceramics in that price point.

that leaves $300 for the plate carrier
the TAG stuff is excellent, but >>30379482
has plenty of choices. id avoid the 5.11 tac tec because the weird shoulder pad makes the back plate sit low.

>>30379939
multicurve plates, same cut for each side. and the plate doesn't just shatter. not how it works.
>>
Get the skd tactical pig plate carrier
>>
ShortFag here.

Shit never fits me. Any recommendations for someone thin and 5' 4" tall?

5' 4" that's some serious manlet territory

Do small sapis fit?

Did you try extra small sapis?

Measure the distance of your tits and the sternum down.
>>
>>30383318
Size your plates correctly and find a carrier that takes said plates. The width of your plates should be sufficient to cover the outside edge of both nipples when worn.

I was to understand that ceramic plates crack and fracture (as intended) after several shots.
After the several shots the plate lose their protection ability and have to be replaced.

If you have 600 I'd jump for a FirstSpear or a trusty Crye JPC
>>
6B45 or 6B43 vest depending on if you like neck guards or not, with optional 6A GOST plates or lvl 4 if you don't trust Russian plates

>>30384050
They will crack or sustain damage as intended. After some number of shots the protection ability will be impaired. The number is highly dependent on the quality of the plate. For example, per NIJ requirements, a level III plate has to stop 6 shots for M80 7.62x51. There are plates on the market that have been demonstrated to stop more than that, but by and large, only large LE organizations and the military can afford to conduct well controlled armor tests or pay for a lab to do it, so the results are not easy to find.

One thing to consider is sorting them into slick/concealable vs overt categories.

Obviously there's going to be some subjectivity but right now there are some very minimalist PCs mixed in with full featured carriers in a way that may be overwhelming for new buyers.
