Rifle used, my new .22
>>30364817
i havent been shooting regularly for very long and i almost exclusively use rifle irons. what kind of groupings do you guys get with irons at 100 and any tips for someone who wants to tighten them?
>>30364817
Any suggestions? I think I need more practice
>>30364910
How about some more info?
>>30364898
My 20 round group at 100 with M16A1 irons was 6"
Have not done 5rnd groups with them.
>>30364935
I shot my M1 Garand in that photo, it was like, say 20-35 feet, possibly 50.
>I cannot into guessing distance

offhand or bench? is this considered good or average?
>>30364993
Bench, I'd say average for /k/, below average for well practiced rifle shooters, unacceptable and embarrassing for a competitor.
>>30364817
Reused this target left by previous shooters.
Savage mk II BV
Bushnell XLT 3-9x40
Federal bulk 40gr
Shot these 8 & 10 shot groups at 110m before switching to plinking shotgun hulls.
>>30365064
>110m
>$350 stock rifle
>Meh optic
>Bulk ammo
>That group
>>30365064
>>30365084
so where do you compete? What's your competition rifle ?
>>30365091
>>30365138
Sucks you don't believe me, but I don't care. They're great groups, that's why I snapped the photos.
I don't compete. I had a good day at the range. I'm lucky enough to shoot two or three times a week when I'm at home.
Here are some zeroing shots made with my Winchester 70 in .30-06. Distance 100m @ Prince George Rod & Gun, ammo is 180 grain Federal SP.

Pic is sideways but whatever.
Raifus in question with my mossmaster
From last weekend with my Glock 17 at 10m. Taking my time with the shots, practicing trigger control, following through to the trigger reset. Pretty happy with that.
>>30365290
Neat!
I did this with my G17 Generation 1 at 10yds
>>30364970
If you're shooting away from marked ranges you can pace off the distance, counting steps or using gps/gps app.
Are you shooting offhand or off of a rest? Are you shooting rapidly? Find a stable position, and slow down. Take slow, even breaths, and when you're ready to fire, exhale halfway, hold, and make a controlled squeeze of the trigger.

It's a troll man.
What's a good way to practice offhand shooting without feeling like I'm wasting ammo? I realize I'll never have to make a calm calculated shot standing with an AR, so I usually try and shoot every 2-3 seconds with 20rd GI's at 100 yards. I shoot at an old lead refrigerator usually, or a dead oak tree that's 7ish feet wide depending on whose land it is that day. I usually average 5 hits per mag.

>>30365331
Are you trying to hold the gun up the entire time or something? You should be able to do a lot better than 7 feet at 100...
Also, the answer is a .22 trainer or conversion kit.
>>30365091
Somebody hasn't shot a Savage.
>dirt cheap
>great triggers
>accurate as hell
>>30365329
>>30365339
prone? how do you like the stock?
>>30365387
prone, during load development. I don't have pictures of other groups but the 10 round group with the load i settled on (77gr sierra TMK with 26.7 gr of PP2000MR) groups at .8 MOA.
I love the fucking stock. I need a cheek piece on every one of my scoped rifles. I hate chin welds.
>>30365354
Yeah I usually have the gun aimed every five shots, take a breather, acquire the target again. I do better with irons and worse with red dots, shooting friend's rifles one with an Aimpoint 1x and one with a Burris 1x. Sorry for fudd terms, I don't know the official models just the magnification levels. I don't use my hand me down whoracle because there's a leupold durr scope on it.
>>30365427
learn to shoot with a sling.
>>30365354
Also I should note, I can usually hit a sporting clay or similar sized gong from 50-100 yards with my 527 offhand with the redfield it came with. I think the weight may be a problem but I don't know how because I'm pretty muscle fat. Bench max around 290lbs and I don't lift regularly.

As in using it to stabilize the rifle to my arm?
This shit really bugs me because I can whoop anybody's ass at 5 stand but I look like a total retard once the centerfires come out.

Savage 110 in .308
7" target at 100 yards
10x magnification
Mean variance: .75"
R95: 1.2"
Best 5 round group of the day. Tried a bunch of different soft point ammo to see what the rifle shot accurately. Hornady American Gunner 165gr was the best, followed by Federal Fusion.
Considering the guy next to me had a dedicated bench rifle and wasn't shooting anything but clover leafs, I wish I could have done better. Regardless, I centered the optic based on this ammo after that.
