the answer is no, it's not. unless you want to make the pants-on-head retarded as fuck claim that mk262 is of g1 design.

furthermore if you do find the g7 figure for BC you need to find the figures under 100 yards for your calculations to be accurate since BC isn't static. it changes over flight time.

Pic related, and stop talking about shit you know NOTHING about.
>waah G1 vs G7, it's a G7 bullet!
You don't even know what the G7 coefficient represents. It's an average across all possible velocities, whereas G1 is zoned 0-1200, 1201-2800, 2800-3500, and 3500+. For this calculation, a .343 G1 in the 1200-2800 range is the most applicable, but since it triggers your 'tisms I'll re-run it with G7

Now, to address the whole "waah you used BC numbers I don't like!" argument, pic related.

Sierra's own data. .343 is 1700fps and below, so a more appropriate usage would be, per their own data, a .362 BC (which will be the G7).

But again, Quickload doesn't even worry about BC, only the physical dimensions of the bullet. And Hornady's chart takes it to 175 yards on the dot for 2100fps using .362.
>>

>>30358731
That's a valid load. Did you even look at the fucking picture?
>>
>>30358760
>>30358731
Or if you really want, I can do it overpressure with a crimped primer like Black Hills does, and get the velocity up to ~2480-2500 depending on which powder I use.

Also, AR-Comp isn't the fastest of the ~10 appropriate powders for that load either. Just by changing powders I can get it up to 2450fps.
>>
>>30358760
real world testing has shown the FPS at the muzzle to be lower than your calculated bullshit

work with real world figures, or are you afraid that i'll be right?

at this point it's very obvious that you've already done it in private. that's why you haven't posted up the new chart showing exactly what i said to be true

The jacket is drawn all the way around the core? Or is the jacket incomplete at the base or what?

I use an aerosol degreaser (Brownell's TCE) because it's what I had on hand, but honestly methylated spirits/denatured alcohol in a dimestore squirt bottle works just as well.

Most of the good degreasers evaporate too fast to "wipe down" a whole gun, but dipping is overkill.

So I just bought an 80% lower as a spur of the moment kind of thing, I'll be milling it out this weekend but I have no idea what kind of rifle I'm setting up. This will be my first AR. Mostly for practice/fun and SHTF.

I've been doing my own research but I want to know what /arg/ thinks.

>16 inch barrel, CHF, not a lightweight or bull barrel.
>Maybe 14.5 with permanent muzzle device
>Mid length gas
>1in7 twist
>Magpul stock and PG, no idea what handguard
>Vertical FG/AFG

Are there any "Must have" options or features I should look at? I've been thinking of just getting a BCM upper assembly. I have no idea what to look for in triggers other than not costing more than 100 bucks.

I'm going to try to keep the build under $800 and get it done before the end of the year. Any ideas?

Currently piecing together an AR with a 16 inch middy BCM BFH, with the chrome lined and cold hammer forged goodness. Obviously haven't shot it yet, but it's a sexy looking upper.

Make sure you get a handguard with some regular old pic rails, or if you're not a fan of handguard attachments just get the regular A2 style handguards.

Don't get this M-LOK jackassery that Magpul does if you ever want to attach shit to your handguard. It'll save you the trouble of having to basically buy a bunch of proprietary shit to make your handguard more modular.

Ten of each model were reserved for Colt Canada’s internal uses, so 490 per model will be sold to the public. "

I have a gen 3 SS Mlok that the barrel nut slots where the barrel nut wrench hooks into literally crumpled like aluminum so unless I want to try and cut deeper notches that barrel nut is not coming off. Also the barrel nut wrench is all bent to shit as well....

Magpul MBUS
Reasonably close on a true receiver
No
The PA are fine, wait for Eotech to unfuck their products
>>
>>30360439
That's a Magpul MBUS (I think gen2).

Yes, all reputable flip-up sights will line up with an A2 FSP assuming you didn't do something retarded like buy an HK-height set for the 416/417 (yet another proprietary thing HK does because they hate you).

A front sight post will not interfere with magnified optics 3x or higher, you end up with a very tiny little blurry arc in the bottom of the reticle and that's it. They make lower-third cowitness mounts for non-magnified optics specifically to place the majority of the FOV above the front sight post as well.
>>
>>30360435
Yeah, the ones I've seen usually come with a barrel nut that is consistent with the rail they are trying to imitate.
>>
>>30360435
Damn. I might actually buy one...
>>
>>30360481
Just get one and try it out if you're curious. Worst case scenario you blow $50 on a rail that doesn't hold up.

It uses a barrel nut, a screw to hold it in place, and two screws to tighten it down
>>
>>30360462
>screw holding it to the barrel nut disintegrated
I'm assuming you don't have a torque wrench that does inch-lbs? Almost no screw ever needs to be tightened past 30 in-lbs, especially not a clamp-on rail like the MI's. I think I have mine at like 12 in-lbs.
>and then the barrel nut threading disintegrated
Pics? Did you use some form of grease/oil/other lubricant on it? You're supposed to, it prevents galling. Aluminum is prone to galling.
>where the barrel nut wrench hooks into literally crumpled like aluminum
It is aluminum. Again, did you use a lubricant on the threads? IIRC there's like, 6 slots and you only need 3. Use the 3 that have the most material between the wrench and the direction you're turning. Aero's rails use a similar nut.

And above all else:
>did you call MI and complain?
>are you absolutely 100% sure it's not a knockoff/you bought it through a reputable dealer and not Amazon/Ebay?
>>
>>30360510
What are the two (screw?) holes for at the very end of the top of the rail? I've got an ARMS SIR that has those but it's got the reversible picatinny/PEQ2 mount that flips up, that one doesn't.

For the first one the screw was just an allen/hex screw. It didnt just strip it literally was like sand.

Dont have picks as I chucked it after I cut it off. Yes I always oil the threads. No idea wtf happened. They gave me 50% of a new rail and free shipping.

For the second one it wasnt the threads it was the notches (see pic) when I went to remove it they crumpled into a the barrel nut. No pics as I would have to remove the rail again (which putting it back on was a bitch and I am not really ready to replace the entire upper.)

I can show you the dents in the wrench though.

I ordered the rails straight from their website so yea 100% certain they werent knock offs.

Colt Canada is new Diemaco.

What irons should I get for my build? It might be a while til I put any sort of optic on there, so I was thinking about going with fixed irons.

Or should I just go the default route and get Magpul MBUS?
>>
>>30360584
I have no idea why they're there haha, probably just some aesthetic.

In other news, where is the best place to put a magpul QD tab? I have it on the top rail, the side rail looks better but doesn't feel right
>>
>>30360559
The Diemaco "D" hasn't been present on the Cerro uppers Diemaco finished for some time now. Could still be legit. Even when it was, Cerro still made the forgings for them.

You would have to check barrel, BCG, and (not sure if it is the same for Colt Canada) the FCG for C markings. Of course the lower rollmark goes a long way in identification as well.
>>
>>30360559
It's an American Colt upper I believe, as only a keyhole mark was paresent. Colt Canada products have the Diemaco marking.

These pictures are from a 2007 M4C thread talking about the forge mark changes.

"They are not being made anymore with the Stylized Diemaco D. Colt Canada will frequently make parts for Colt USA and visa versa. Most Colt Canada parts today are stamped CC now or their upper is a raised Cage Code. "

Old upper > New upper > BCG rollmark
>>
>>30360713
??? What the fuck are you on? The wood is my desk in the background. Fix your eyes. The wrench is the metal barrel nut wrench that comes with the rails....
>>
>>30360716
Thanks. The upper only has a keyhole marking but no raised Cage Code. The barrel is also marked with "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7".
This guy is trying to ruse me right?
>>
>>30360713

>>
>>30360755

"C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7" is a Colt USA roll mark.

Here are more pictures from that 2014 SA20. Notice all the CC marks for Colt Canada as opposed to the single C of Colt USA

One of the big commercial rifle builders that made it though the AWB sunset. RRA made an arguably better name for themselves, but Stag grabbed a lot of LE contracts in the early-mid 00s.

They make fine rifles and for a while were a decent cheaper option to a Colt, but the modern AR market means you can buy or build for cheaper elsewhere.
>>
>>30360857

Thoughts on buying this: http://www.andersonrifles.com/product/80-jig-with-anodized-80-lower-receiver/

and this: http://www.andersonrifles.com/product/anderson-basic-gun-kit/

and then replacing certain parts I want (eg different stock and handguard) as a way to build a really cheap ar since I imagine seeking out the parts won't be cheaper than $550 (since I want to use an 80%)? Or do y'all think it would be cheaper to go ahead and buy everything individually?

Plenty of companies offer "rifle kits" less the lower with different furniture like say the Magpul offerings. Have you looked to see if anyone has one with that parts you are wanting to use already?

Haven't shopped around for it much because the thought hadn't occurred to me to buy a kit, since I was planning on searching for parts individually.

do you know how boring these threads would be without all the faggy shit

it would be like akg and hit bump limit once a month
>>
>>30360699
There was definitely something fucky going on there. Ether the threads were seizing or you were way overtorquing it if it chewed the wrench up that bad.

Not saying it's your fault, but the next time you put an upper together use a good grease on the barrel nut instead of oil. Aeroshell M33 is supposed to be the "best" but it's basically automotive lithium. Then again, it's also pretty cheap, so it comes down to whichever you'll use all of eventually.
