Post throwback optics. Anyone have any good recomendations for repro or original ar carry handle optics?
Colt or don't bother.

How do you like yours? Does the zero hold?

Shit is worse than Aug A1 optics
What a country is going to have A1 kits with that shitty giant gen1 night vision scope, complete with a mount for the carry handle, for $999. Should I get one to compliment my wasr and NSPU?
Also, what carry handle optic for an A2?

Depends on how retro you want to be. The Colt 3x is a given. You could find an old Redfield (issued ART scopes are rare, but civvie Accurange are out there) or Unertl 10x that sometimes made their way from M40s and M21s onto M16s. Armson OEG a'la the Son Tay CAR-15s.
Move up a generation and you get into the Leupold Ultra M3A 10x once again from the sniper platforms and some of the early Aimpoints. The 80s introduced the Triijicon TA01 as well.
Then you get into the 90s and the "modern era" of sights most people are familiar with and the move away from the A1 styled uppers to the A2 on the broad scale.

Gotcha.
I'm wanting to keep the look period correct for my A1 clone. So late 60's.

Love it, it's a tank, has good clarity, and the adjustment nobs are a dream to zero with. My only lament is that the leather lens covers are nowhere to be found, aside from bundled with the optic itself.

If the A1 optic is anything like the A3, you're hilariously wrong.

That vast majority were used with just open sights, but USMC still used some updated tritium Armson OEGs in Desert Storm, the TA01 ACOG, Aimpoint 3000, 5000, Comp XD, CompM or CompM2 fit the timeline of service and made their way onto more than a few rifles.

The Colt 3x or the pilfered sniper system scopes are about it then. In the 60's generally the only guys with optics on their M16s were LRRP or SOG.

Were they mounted on the carry handle or was the gooseneck mount more popular?
>regret not going flat top
>A2 carry handle not as sexy as I remember from BMT
>I must have thought it was hot because I hadn't seen another gun in what felt like forever
just like why 54 ugly girls that lived across the hall from us also mysteriously got really hot by around week 3.

Gooseneck is more of a early 00s thing. Pair it with a CompM or CompM2 which are honestly some of the easier/cheaper sights to find as well.
