Nay, it is genuine, I bought it in Vienna from a passing Magyar merchant. I tried it out, it isn't easy to handle but it's a strong weapon. I'm considering the purchase of another such bow as I developed a liking for these sturdy bows but so far I havent decided between a Bela the Red-brand 'Steppenlord' or an Ugyek the One-Legged Fletcher-brand 'Devilkiller'. A Black Turul would also be nice, but those things are quite expensive (a white battlehorse or three Bavarian virgin slave girls is a high price) and rumoured to be slightly cursed with pagan magick as well.

crossbows could get retardedly heavy raw weights like 200lbs at times. but it;s the general rull that stirrup bows were usually everything under 150 lbs.

for medieval crossbows, after a certain weight you'll get diminishing returns because of the inherent design of them.

This is because medeival crossbow's strings are fatter as the poundage goes up and only have a short travel distance. so a 150 lb medieval crossbow may only have the power of a 100lb warbow because your draw length is a lot shorter than a bow. but with a crossbow, you can keep that tension without tiring or needing the upperbody strength to pull it to full draw like a bow.

Modern crossbows on the otherhand, you'll notice it's strings iare thin and has quite a long travel. so a 150 lb modern crossbow will have more power over a 150 lb medeival crossbow.


As for armor, they're often depicted as armor piercing. but any of the full harnesses made during the Renascence and beyond are perfectly capable of surviving all but a close range shot. though mail over a gambason may be weak to it. but even if your gambason stops the bolt, you'll probably have some damaged ribs.
