Hey, /k/, I'm looking for revolvers for a first hand gun (own about 12 rifles already) and I'm not sure which models would be relatively cheap. I love the look of Ruger's GP100 series but they seem kind of expensive. I've already decided I want one chambered in .357 Magnum, with a barrel at least 4.2", preferably 5". Any suggestions? Also looking to spend around the $400 range.

No money wasted with a GP100. They are built like tanks and will stand a diet of extremely hot loads for the rest of its life.
Don't cheap out anon.
Get either a S&W or a Ruger.

This. Modern Colt sucks at nearly everything they do, and everything else is a ripoff of a Colt or S&W design anyways. The GP100 is a good, solid, reliable gun.

Ruger GP100, no question.
But if you can manage to find an MR73 at a decent price...

Kinda looks weird with wooden grips
Im looking at a rossi, they come in different barrel lengths and stainless or blued

Alrighty, GP100 it is. Where's the cheapest place to look for one of these? How adequate are they for home protection? Not the main reason I'm buying it but definitely would like to use it for that if a need arises.

Specs, also the one im looking at is used and going for 300US$

Shit forgot pic

I've heard if you buy Rossi you should buy new for the warranty because Taurus manufacturers some of the guns they send the states and their quality is unreliable. But that if you get one that is good they are great

>Where's the cheapest place to look for one of these?
I would call around to your local gun shops and compare prices.
You can buy online for cheaper but I would rather support a local guy than budsgunshop, com.
>How adequate are they for home protection?
A revolver will be just as good as anything else for home defense.
Chances of you needing more than 6 shots will be slim, but if you are afraid you will need that many, then get a glock or something.
Also a .357 in a hollow point will stop any bad guy that comes your way.
>>30333386
6 shots of .357 magnum is more than enough for home defense
>>30333529
More than enough for your ears, too.
I love .357mag, really. It's my favorite caliber, but I stick with 9mm for house work. Fuck that noise, literally.
>>30333233
if you think the gp100 is expensive you're in for a really shitty revolver
>>30333498
I'll check Bass Pro and Turner's, along with one other gun shop around me, because the rest are fucking rip offs. I live in Southern CA.
>>30333587
I'm broke what do you expect?
>>30333233
Throwing in a +1 for the GP-100. I found one used at my LGS with barely any wear. Got her for $425 OTD and I love her.
Pic related is the GP w/ my G34 9mm.
Why only a 357? Snag yourself a super blackhawk
>>30333233
Nigger, you're not going to be able to find a GP100 for $400.
>>30334180
That's why I said I like the look, but from what I've read on here + other reviews in the gun I might just shill out the extra $100 and buy the GP100
>>30334162
I will eventually but I'm looking for a .357 at the moment
