i never said that i didn't appreciate it, i just think it's a half assed implementation. other companies are also doing the drop only "ambi" bolt catch and i hate it because it's not really ambi if it doesn't lock the bolt back AND drop it.

like i said in the post you're replying to, dropping the bolt is easy as fuck. just slap the receiver with your support hand. i've NEVER had a problem dropping a bolt home, there's numerous ways to do it: slap paddle, yank charging handle etc.

it's the locking back that's a stupid fucking hand dance. and yes i do reach around the mag well on guns that aren't lever equipped. inb4 meme levers. they're not to me. i use them heavily and it works fucking GREAT.

i like magpul's implementation of ambi bolt catch in the ACR though... that shit is TITS as fuck. if you ever get to handle one fuck around with it. i wish more AR's had this system other than those ugly as sin 308 RRA's ones which use a similar ambi bolt latch system.

I don't want to push you out of the .243 or the AR-10 platform, but the .243 is going to do it's absolute best in a bolt gun setup. You'll really get the full potential of the bullet laser and also get to enjoy it's very low recoil. You'll also have a lot more leeway if you reload for it, which you should absolutely do.

Don't bother getting it reworked into .260 unless you *solely* intend to hunt with it. 6.5CM and 6.5x47 are things specifically due to .260rem not fitting in mags with >120gr match bullets, which is pretty much the main allure of a 6.5mm.

Another option that's gaining ground fast is 6mm Creedmoor. Basically a slightly shorter .243 that allows the 115gr DTAC or 107gr VLD's, runs at a slightly higher pressure so you're not giving up much if any velocity (I wish I had solid numbers, most of the data I've seen for it is in boltguns with people pushing well beyond book loads. Can't do that in a semi).

Though I do suggest you do your own research. I am mainly an accuracy whore and when I saw that Krieger offered a short-chambered .243 I pretty well stopped looking. That means I might have missed some options. But generally, the bargain bin and middle-of-the-road barrels will be in .308 because everybody and their dead sloth has reamers for it.
