Best vehicle for fleeing innawoods

I live in Georgia and have been considering my options for bugging out. It's about 100 miles to the end of civilization. There are places within 10 miles however that would work nicely as exclusion zones, assuming I could secure them.

My question is, what kind of vehicle do you think would be best for moving these kind of distances. I was thinking a dirtbike with extra fuel tanks. It's lightweight, simple, easy to hide, and able to go where cars cannot.

Maybe a Yamaha rhino, it's 4x4, can have a windshield, can go through small rivers and lakes, reasonably priced if bought used, and doesn't need a gas oil mixture to run. It's smaller than a truck to and you have a place for guns and ammo.

Get a Suzuki Samurai. Light af, offroad capable af and will give you more storage room than just a bike.

Only down side is fuel consumption, but the storage outweighs that imho. Living on a bike's load of supplies would not be fun in any way.

I would think a street legal dirt bike would be a good choice if driving to a predetermined location with stores, I guess it depends if your looking for a dedicated bug out vehicle to keep stocked up with supplies or just a vehicle to take your bug out bag and go on. I'd opt for a street legal bike though for a) more fun when not bugging out b) if society is approaching a breakdown but shit has not hit the fan, better to be able to fly under the radar then getting pulled over on your way to bugging out and slowing you down. On a side note, it would also let you run drills legally

I'm biased as fuck, so I'm gonna go ahead a recommend a bike, if for no other reason than if SHTF and the roads are at gridlock you can filter through the traffic.

A bike like OP listed is great for a cheap ghetto solution.
If yohre after something more significant you'd want an "Adventure Touring" bike like a GS1200. That would be ideal.

If the size+price of that worries you OP can always go with Hondas new 500cc series, specifically the CB500x.

For the purposes of Bugging Out I'd much rather the Jap stuff (I own like 3 shitty Hondas to loan to friends on rides) due to availability of parts, it's expendable and honestly more reliable in many ways.

I used to ride banshees and CR250Rs man and I gotta say I love the simplicity and the power band of 2 strokes but 4 strokes have power and torque everwhere and are just generally more fun to trail ride. I switched to a 4 stroke enduro and have not looked back.

Sounds like a good idea, but I think many people who plan on bugging out don't consider the fact that in an emergency situation, lots of other people will be bugging out to the same places and planning on surviving in the same ways. Drawing on the same resources.

Especially Georgia, where more of the population thinks this way.

So I'd be cautious about hanging your hat on isolated areas close to civilization staying that way. Might work as a way station before you orient yourself and head further out.

I looked into fourstrokes when I was picking out a bike for dirt and sumo riding, but all the fourstrokes were either too pig fat, too expensive to maintain or too far out of my price range for my taste, so I ended up on a 200 xc-w which works great for everything I do.

wr450's, crf450's, etc. would've required frequent oil changes and expensive top end rebuilds, so I decided to go with a two smoker. The only options for new bikes are KTM's and yamaha's and a yz250 would've taken more money and effort to make it tolerable on the street and the dirt.

I've been wondering the same thing except not for SHTF, just for regular out in the woods activities. Although they'd be used the same way.

I would think a street legal dirtbike would be the deal. Although it's difficult finding one off craigslist. How much would it cost to make a dirtbike street legal?

Aww shit. I got a GS500 as a first bike and have a big ol boner for the SV650. Probably gonna get some 4 cylinder supersport next though, but possibly some cheapish sport twin like a monster or pic related.

Of course the dream is a dedicated dirt bike, a sport tourer or adventure bike, a supersport, an old cafe racer, and an obscure, totally stock Italian 125cc from when my parents were children, but real life happened instead.

They're unicorns here in the states and cost an absolute fortune. If you don't care about MPG then nothing will touch the availability and cost of a used pickup and a camper. That's true, no fantasy, survival. There are entire communities that live out of them already.

stick to a rokon trailbreaker or a honda trail 50, they're clutchless, lightweight, have low seats, and both brakes are on the handlebars. you can shove and paddle them through literally anything even if you're fat, exhausted, carrying too much luggage, and don't know the first thing about how to ride.

Just going through the woods isn't all that loud. Also, while you brought up valid points, it's still better than ditching your vehicle if you MUST cross a river that's slightly deep. Either you ditch your dirt bike or truck, or you risk crossing and possibly flooding the engine.
