Its a pump action AR-15 style rifle.
Theres a short action in 5.56 and .300blk
Now theres a long action in .308 sized calibers.

No they do not bypass magazine restrictions as they are still using regular AR-15 and AR-10 mags.

Right now theres no Canadian dealers but IRG is importing them. Starting at $1000USD.
>>
>>30264945
Interesting, so another AR like gun that you can take in the woods. Not sure I'd spend $1000 on that when I could get a Mini 14 or something though. Seems more like a novelty.
>>
>>30264971
Basically but would have much better accuracy than the mini-14. Plus they can take modified ar-15 barrels (just need to have the gas port welded.)
>>
>>30264971
Mini 14s cost a bit more, and they aren't chambered in .308.

Okay, I need some clarification.

I received my PAL - I'm assume it's my PAL/RPAL because it says "restricted" and "non-restricted" on back under "POSSESSION."

I don't have an ATT, so my question is: what is the process to purchase my first handgun?

Do I purchase it, call the CFO and/or RCMP, and wait for an ATT to arrive before I pick it up? In what form will my ATT arrive in?

Merci.
>>
>>30266410
Sorry i for the haha at the end thatd probably help
>>
>>30266634
That is indeed your Restricted. The process is slow, but simple.
>Pay for handgun
>Store will initiate a "transfer" to move it from their possession to yours
>Harass your local CFO office occasionally until the gun is transferred to you.
>At this point, you may receive email confirmation that you can go get it and take it home
>Shitpost about your new gun
>Wait for the registration paper to arrive via Canada Post so you can take it out to the range

I'm looking for a single shot .22lr; what is a good/cheap option? I'd prefer brand new since I don't want to wreck anything with historical value and I'll probably be attempting amateur gunsmithing like building my own stock, engraving, stuff like that. Thanks in advance.

I believe the us will extend ground operations in Syria or iraq further complicating things, there will be 1-2 high casualtie events in America and Canada, with a couple more happening in Europe, Hillary will win an push gun control hard, Trudeau will respond with a strong anti gun rhetoric and push for more security measures while working with the muslim community, Canada will join operations in Syria and iraq to and extent, and thats about it for now

>>
newfag here, how long did it take you guys to get your gun license and how much in total did it cost?
>>
>>30269098
About $100 for CFSC course, $80 for CRFSC, $80 for application. Took about 4 months total, because 2 months for the actual application 2 months to actually get around to doing the courses. After that you'll need supplies, but you'll be able to get a gun from there.
>>
>>30269098

The cost of the course varies from each instructor, but you're looking at probably around $100 for that. If I recall the form requests $65 for registration, plus the fees for getting a photo taken and postage.

I got mine when we only had to take a challenge test. Paid the instructor $50. It was $112 all said and done.
>>
>>30269098

250.00 for both the PAL/RPAL course + 80.00 for the application.

Took 50 days for my license to be mailed to me from the day I mailed the application.
>>
>>30269098
$120 for the course, $80 for the RPAL, 28 days from the time they received my application. Renewals have been running about a month.
>>
>>30269090
Have you considered using the side mount for the scope? It would probably hold a zero better than the dust cover mount.

I've heard a lot of stuff.
Tims coffee myths are plentiful.
>nicotine
>additional caffeine
>caramel
And usually the story goes, it's infused into the wax lining of the cups, and comes out when hot coffee is poured in. That's why when you buy Tims grounds and make it at home, it's not the same.
>>
>>30277186
None at all actually, except for disassembling, which is pretty common.

My sister used to work at Army & Navy, and one of her regular customers was this middle-aged conspiracy theorist lady who would come in to buy entire cans of coffee grounds from some obscure brand.

The reason she does this is because she refuses to drink Tim Hortons coffee. She refuses to drink Tim Hortons coffee is because, according to her crackpot theories, Tim Hortons coffee contains MSG.

That's clearly stupid, but most people can let that slide. You can't fix stupid, so you gotta let people have some of their delusions.

Oh, and this bitch is wildly inconsistent. Along with those coffee grounds, she will also buy several large bags of potato chips. You know, the biggest target of MSG criticism.

>>
>>30277952
Funny that Trudeau is contradicting himself.

Before he became PM, he said that legalizing would reduce underage purchases.

The reasoning went something like this:
>drug dealers are full-time criminals, therefore morally bankrupt from the beginning, therefore not picky about customers
>marijuana retailers are legal operations, therefore underage purchases would be largely mitigated
>>

MSG causes minor brain bleeding in like 20 to 30 percent of white people. If you're asian then go ahead and snort that shit.

I've noticed that people who worry too much about MSG have other strange food beliefs, like how pork will stay rotting in your digestive system for 7 years, gluten being poison, lactose intolerance being a problem for white people, etc.

>>30277879
commonlaw depends on province and in most provinces is pretty reasonable. I was worried it would be some horrible california-tier shit but it's nothing to be worried about. it doesn't have any effect on your PAL. conjugal partners affect your PAL. similar but not the same.

>>30277964
I don't think that there is any law saying that she can't have access to the keys or know the combinations. She can't reasonably be found guilty an offense if she unlocks the safe and uses a gun to fend off home invaders, because the right to security in one's home trumps lesser laws. That said, the guns are best in the safe if you're not around. She should only know the combination if you trust her, and if you don't trust her then you shouldn't really be moving in or leaving guns at her place.

no idea what you're referencing, so probably not

I just remember you complaining from the previous thread that you had T97 that was smooth and fine, but with a bent rail or something, and the replacement you got wouldn't chamber (which is kind of an even bigger deal), so wanted to find out how you resolved it

T97 seems like a really good deal on paper and is a well designed (in terms of function, not ergonomics) firearm, but the shoddy chink quality control seems to shit all over what could otherwise be a popular rifle. all the issues and the horror stories seem to turn a lot of people off, even at the accessible price point. if Norcs got their act together, they could sell a lot more of these

The most common issue I've heard of is the shitty feed ramp (need to get a smith to polish/notch it like an AR ramp), and the issue with them not liking certain mags. I found that the green follower USGI mag was so tight that it nearly fused with the receiver. So Gen 2 PMags it is.

ah ok, gotcha
personally, I think it's not worth the headache, as I think piston-driven stuff is overall better than DI, no interest in ARs
hehe, but since we're on that topic, you could also use the classic of classics:
>well, you see, I went out on the lake to do a bit of fishing
>but when I found a good spot, the wind kept pushing the boat off of it
>when I was trying to come up with a solution, I realized I forgot that I had these 16 paperweights in my bag from that time I bought them and forgot about them
>being of inventive mind and decisive character, I realized I could fashion a great anchor out of them using my trusty paracord keychain
>next thing I know, the boat tips over, the knot on the paracord slips and I go tumbling into the water
>thankfully my porcelain miniature kitten collection was in a waterproof bag that floats, and was largely unharmed
>but.. no mater how much diving I did and how hard I looked, I could never find those paperweights ever again, oh well

There are blueprints for the PPS-43 or PPSh floating around. I always figured an enterprising lawbreaker could just hire a half dozen machine shops to mill up the different components if they were really that intent. It isn't like guns are really that hard to make or buy even in total ban scenarios.

It would be fun if we could get decent repros of old submachine guns.

One of my goals is to learn how to rapidly churn out decent Sten clones and stockpile a ton of ammo. Shit goes sideways, I'll churn 'em out, fill a few mags per and slap em on with duct tape, rent a van and spend a night leaving them everywhere, all over the city and surrounding towns. Especially at the local crown land where I know local /k/ommandos go. I'd also like to buy me a crate of SKSes and a crate of nuggets.

I hope they'd include some cool shit in the order..

Nothing we can't already buy. Remember that if you have a 12.4 you can't buy 12.5 stuff and vice versa. Anything that got prohibited with the AR-15 would currently be non restricted or restricted. There is no possible way it's a win.

So. Serious question here, chaps
My refs just got called today for my RPAL,
1) how long will it take for it to get sent to the CFO and stamped?
2) since I assume AR15s are gonna be facing a ban soon enough, but my budget is SUPER tight (wedding, career change) would just picking up an AR lower mean I own an AR15? And therefore get grandfathered in if a ban happens?
3) assuming 2 is yes, would that allow me to purchase more AR15s in future?
4) assuming 2 and 3 are yes, what is the cheapest friggin lower available? What are some decent ones?

1) Depending on how far you are from Ottawa 1 week+
2) Yes the lower is the firearm, stripped lowers can be had for $70-100
3) Probably not but doesn't hurt.
4) Areo precision stripped lowers but i would spring the extra dough for aluminum over poly
>>
>>30286505
So, even if buying a crapola 70 buck lower gets me a PPAL, it would only allow me to have THAT lower? Not purchase more lowers?

In that case, I'll ask here before heading over to /arg/ to ask the same...
What is the BEST stripped lower available. So one could nab the best possible platform to build an AR over time, with only a minimal initial investment?

Lol why does Elizabeth May think that an AR 15s tiny wimpy little 223 REM would blow up a deer? Does she honestly think that a fudd's bolt action 30 06, with nearly 4x the energy, would somehow do less damage to a deer?

Is she completely ignoring the fact that the SKS, one of the most popular non restricted rifles in Canada, fires a round that's almost twice as strong as the 223 in a semi automatic sequence like the AR? What makes her think that a ar15 would allow Canadians to murderously slaughter furry creatures in the woods? Why does CBC keep mistakingly calling the AR an assault rifle? Do they not know that assault rifles have select fire which is strictly prohibited in Canada? Do reporters even fuckin Google their terminologies before publishing something?

It's surprising that hunting is even allowed in Canada in the current year with all these grocery shopping urbanite warriors making up the majority of the populace. >I mean, they make for some creative jokes, but in reality, you know the cops will see through that shit, investigate and shit on your with a pile of charges, even if they don't find whatever and wherever you stashed away -- again, not worth it

I know people that never even bothered to get a PAL when the FAC was phased out.

Nobody is going to use the boating line, but if you think people won't turn in their restricted firearms but keep a couple in the attic you're simply delusional. Confiscations never work out as intended. They simply can't chase down every "Mike from Canmore" story, and search every house from top to bottom across the country. There are just too many gun owners.

Based upon import figures, Australia got rid what.. 20% of the targeted firearms when they instituted their ban?

A ban isn't intended to remove guns from the public, it's intended to shut down shooting as a hobby and marginalize it politically. Doesn't matter that people still have an M305 buried in the back 40, they can't shoot it, can't share it with their kids, and can't openly identify as a recreational shooter or collector. Getting every single gun isn't important because they're playing a long game where the remainder just rust away into nothingness.

I have a surprise for you: you can't enjoy the shooting sports when you're dead! are you going to protest in some other stupid way that will become a sensational news media story that will justify every infringement upon the law abiding firearms community in one felt swoop?
any sort of "fighting" you are alluding to is going to lead to a loss for you and to an aggregate loss for the community because it will make everyone look bad. changing the system from within, by legal means, with information, education, donating to lobby groups (putting your your money where your mouth is), and getting public opinion on your side, is the only way to get positive changes that will be long lasting and don't put anyone in danger
>>

>>
>>30288836
>changing the system from within, by legal means, with information, education, donating to lobby groups (putting your your money where your mouth is), and getting public opinion on your side
>fight

These are all positions on a continuum. They aren't mutually exclusive. As with everything, at some point working within the system may end up impossible, and at such a point protesting in open defiance of the law is the only way to get the point across.

By the time they ban semi-autos, it's already too late to work through the system. At that point the only way to get your point across is protesting and non-compliance, exactly the same way people have been protesting marijuana laws since forever.

Bolt action is better if you intend to hunt. It is far more accurate and you'll be able to fire much more powerful rounds. A savage axis with a decent scope can cost up to 700 dollars in total so keep that in mind.

I wouldn't risk anything larger than a mule deer using 7.62 39
>>
>>30289153

It depends upon which bolt action you're talking about, really.

>SKS

pros:

semi-auto
inexpensive
durable
reliable

cons:

poor accuracy
can't mount optics easily

>"bolt action"

pros:

more accurate
.30 cal options will be better for hunting large game like Elk/Moose/Grizzly

cons:

ammunition will be more expensive unless you buy something chambered in .223

>>
>>30289312
Not saying you AREN'T RCMP, but I kind of hope this is the case with many RCMP officers.
Most of the cops I know are very pro-gun, and would likely "get sloppy" if they spot a gun related infraction. And when the RCMP was breaking into houses at the floods, apparently the Armed Forces guys doing rescue work and ordered to help them drew down on them when they realized the RCMP were up to no good.

A total ban would be an entirely for show political move, as I suspect it would be VERY difficult to get more than 50% of law enforcement on board with doing anything to enforce it.

False. You absolutely can shoot an intruder. Canada has castle doctrine.
The only argument they have against that is "was it legally stored".
Legal storage of an unrestricted firearm means any locked container. You could have a thumbprint lock on your bedside table drawer, and as soon as the front door crashes, you grab it and load it.

Section 35 of the criminal code notes that defending your property does not constitute an assault if those on the defensive believe on reasonable grounds that someone “is about to enter, is entering or has entered the property without being entitled by law to do so,” and intends to steal or damage that property.

Know your rights. We have castle doctrine.

>>
>>30290051
"By court ruling in 2011, a resident is permitted to use "reasonable and necessary" force in subduing an intruder in his or her private domicile or business. By definition, killing the intruder is only an option if non-lethal means cannot be carried out, and excessive force with obvious intent to kill is not necessarily defensible in court."

Not at all.
>>
>>30290051
Btw, we have Harper to thank for that.
Slipped in as a tiny subcategory of the Common Sense Gun bill was a bit that boiled fucking pages of ambiguous bullshit about self defense down into basically "You can fuck them up if you think they're gonna fuck you up"

That was a great bill. Lets hope the Libs don't cuck it all up.
>>
>>30290111
You're using outdated stuff.
It's been simplified.

"34 (1) A person is not guilty of an offence if

(a) they believe on reasonable grounds that force is being used against them or another person or that a threat of force is being made against them or another person;
(b) the act that constitutes the offence is committed for the purpose of defending or protecting themselves or the other person from that use or threat of force; and
(c) the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances"
And so on.

The definition of "reasonable force" excluding lethality unless all other options are exhausted is no longer there.

I urge you to look it up.

>>30290215
Yup.
Too bad we still have laws against unusual shotgun loads.

What I wouldn't do to be allowed some of the crazy loads I keep seeing on US-based threads. Like that weird defense 12g with the discs. Or flechettes. Or rock salt.

I live in Toronto, and perpetually worry my door's gonna get kicked in by thugs. Shit, I almost wish I lived in biker territory. At least you don't get break-ins when HA or SC are patrolling the area.
>>
Where the fuck can I find a Vz 58? I've looked around, but only found some grim polymer stocks on a couple sites going for over a grand. I'm looking for one that's preferably cheaper and with wooden furniture.

>Legal storage of an unrestricted firearm means any locked container. You could have a thumbprint lock on your bedside table drawer, and as soon as the front door crashes, you grab it and load it.

Legally you only need a trigger lock on on a non-restricted firearm. Get one with a combination lock and leave the combo one digit from unlocking when you go to sleep.

What they will burn you on is whether it was stored with ammunition or not. If it's stored in a locked container, you may keep ammunition with it. However if it only has a trigger lock, ammunition must be stored in a locking container or elsewhere.

You can get Winchester PDX1 up here. One big slug followed up by three buckshot. Basically buck and ball for the modern day.

The only shotgun load that's banned is flechettes. Anything else is legal.

Thought dragons breath was too under incendiary.
>>
>>30290436
So put the ammo with it in a locked bedside (ikea has these) or gun beside bed with triggerlock, and ammo in locked bedside drawer with key left in. As an added bonus, get a shotgun with detachable mag. Then it's good to go in about 3 seconds.

>>30290462
I did not know this existed.
Thank you, anon.

>>30290519
Well fuck me. I just looked it up. "Explosive and flechette" are the only prohibited ammo. And tracers are banned from import but not in general.
I wonder if Dragonsbreath counts as explosive? Probably.
>>
>>30290555
Incendiary is only banned if smaller than 15mm. 12 ga is 17mm.

If that was true and not yellow journalism then that means I know someone who owns 10% of all AR-15s in Canada.

>>30290111
That's older, there have been changes to the relevant laws since then. If you shout out (or claim to) that you want them to surrender, that you have a gun and/or you called the police, then you've attempted reasonable non-lethal means of ending the situation. If you can say in court you felt your life was in danger (IE I "thought he would kill me, your honour" every time they ask) then you can use lethal force to defend yourself.
>>
Is the Mini 14 a 5 round gun only or are there magazines that can hold 10 which are legal in Canada?
>>
>>30291480
If there is a pistol version of the rifle, such as the LAR-15, then magazines marked for the pistol version can hold 10 rounds in a rifle. I don't think that it's an option for Mini-14s unless you alter the magwell to take STANAG pattern magazines.

I'm still hoping for the next best thing.

A Conservative majority is inevitable. Every developed country has a two-party system, the smaller parties never matter.

At the CPC convention, they've discussed firearms reform.
>1: A Conservative government will not deprive Canadian citizens of their legally acquired firearms.
>2: A Conservative government recognizes that civilian firearm ownership is a Canadian Heritage.
I'm looking forward to these two things.

These will actually make firearms ownership a RIGHT, not a privilege (which is what we currently have).
>>
>>30291812
True-say, but that's still potentially 4 years off unless the Libcucks fuck up THAT hard before then. I wouldn't mind getting something in the meantime and then in the event they do get NR I can always grab one then. Although now that I think about it we might be seeing Veprs n shit if the conservatives stick with that policy. There's 6 people in my house right now and my youngest sisters will be of age where I can take them shooting by that point. Hopefully by then I'll have convinced the rest of my family that we should go to the range every sunday or some shit and just plink all day.

the fallout from that was putting the CZ 858 in the NR classification because the RCMP dun goofd. nobody got issued PPALs because it was never necessary

if the law changed to reclassify a gun then the government must grandfather the original owners. the courts decided this when they originally decided to ban shit decades ago

There is no legal requirement to grandfather or even compensate gun owners after a status change.

My grandma who lives in the US is technically a Democrat, but she says that if Trump wins, she's going to look forward to the housing market.

While it's not uncommon for Americans to say that they're going to move to Canada if their least favourite candidate wins the election, apparently Trump haters are far more serious than people who whined in previous elections.

If it happens, they'll be in such a rush to get the fuck outta there that they'll have to sell their homes for much cheaper than usual to get ready for the move.

old fucks have full auto guns, legally. why would the government let them keep their guns if they could just take them for free?

the requirement was to compensate gun owners if they confiscated. the obsessive rules about prohib guns is intended to make people "voluntarily" give up their guns. I'm not willing to defend my position with links because I am drunk and lazy. You might be right but I don't think so.

there will be another court battle if they try it again. that's the thing about illegal laws, if they get struck down you can just rewrite the same illegal shit

>>30292175
they'll find out that they can't just move to Canada as if it's another US state and will end up doing nothing. I'm pretty sure the majority of people saying they're going to move don't even own houses.

Well here let me site two times where they didn't compensate or grandfather.
Walther G22, AP80, Type97a, High-standard model 10B, all classed NR all seized.
In the case of the G22 and AP80 the LGR was used for confiscation.
>>
>>30292232
The main issue at the time was taking so many guns all at once. If they do bans model by model they can keep outrage minimal and spread out over time
>>
>>30292232
>>30292248
There is absiolutely zero requirement for compensation or grandfathering.
Ask anyone who owned a Hi-Standard model 10 or anything from OIC 11. All seized with no money payed. There was no grandfathering or compensation offered for the owners of the original T97s either. Grandfathering was done as appeasement to allow the gov. to say they were being reasonable. It is not something that a majority liberal gov. will neccesarily do now.
