I haven't watched an Dragon Ball anything since Toonami was still on in the afternoons so maybe there's something I'm missing from the show, but in the picture the shotgun has a sling.
IRL it should be attached to the magazine tube, not the forearm/pump. Looks the same in the picture.
There's no reason to try and rig some string to pump when automatic shotguns exist.

Also swords are just about equally useless, the only one that stands out as actually being useful even in current Dragon ball power levels would be the sword Super Janemba had, which actually did some damage to SSJ 3 Goku and seemed to be something better avoided than blocked.

The sword broke after a while. Besides, people aren't dimensions, which is what the sword was known for being able to cut through. The fact that it cut SSJ3 Goku was probably a testament to Janemba's own strength.

Just watched the episode yesterday. It's a sling mounted on a sling swivel at the magazine cap. It's used for carrying the gun not for pumping the action. This is normal use of a sling.
