to the anon concerned about fitment of the zenit stock on the slr107:

i believe all of the slr rifles have the 4.5mm pin.
just make sure you check that the stock has that one instead of the 5.5mm (found on the sgl series).

What are the best AK parts kits builders?

I'm looking to have a few kits done.

I was recommended kilo arms, but they never replied to like 3 of my emails.

JBI, piece of history and arizona response were also recommended.

Anyone have any clue how long the builds usually take with any of the listed companies?
>>
>>30212500
I'll build it. 100$ a kit if you aren't happy with the work you'll get a full refund

Avoid them. They did this to my Lancaster when I came in for a headspace adjustment when it closed on a no-go gauge.

Granted, it's a Lancaster I just wanted to get headspaced properly before I sold it in November, and they say it's fine, but this is absolutely piss poor work.

Ready to go get some amber shellac and iodine to stain my AK with.

There are plenty of threads with DDI guns with issues from canted sights, to soft metal peening.

Hey guys I know this is not the right thread to be asking but I like the /akg/ people part of /k/ the most cuz you guys are willing to talk straight.
For about ten years now I feel like I cannot stop paying attention to every door, corner, people inside vehicles (parked as well), lights that can cast silhouettes, pretty much as much as I can sink into my brain.
I'm constantly scanning when I step foot outside my door. It feels like a duty-like chore and I feel obligated to do so.
Sometimes I wish I could just turn my brain off, stroll along, and have a world that I could go outside with no weapons for means of defense, and walk without KNOWING there are people that wait for people to do this.
My instructors growing up were very strict on this and I've engrained it institutions myself. It's annoying but I do it all the time. Always having a plan when I enter a new place, looking at each and every person accessing threats, watching their clothing and the way they shift their weight to reveal weapon adjustment. It's hard to describe but I know I'd rather do this automatically then to have to remind myself.
Am I alone /k/? I have no friends so I can't really ask them. Pic related my 107. wish I could just open carry this but it's not the 1700's anymore :/
>>
>>30214125

>>
>>30214304
It's situational awareness man. I mentioned the 1700's because it was common for people to carry rifles. I know I sound retarded when I explain it but I'd rather talk to people on /k/ than sound like an idiot in person.

I'm like that, too. Welcome to situational awareness and being a man.

Years of internet videos of people getting fucked up because they weren't paying attention has caused you to become aware.

It's not a bad thing. Just don't stress out over it.

I basically do it subconsciously now. Of course it sucks seeing any random car near my street and assuming its someone plotting a robbery, but atleast I can plan ahead if something were to happen.

https://www.legionusa.com/vepr-slant-to-square-stock-adapter-sgm.html

As for the handguards, there's a few options.
The easiest option is probably a bolt on retainer.

I should rephrase. The mak 90 I also known as Chinese type 56 right? I'm not googling that so idk if it's accurate.

This gun...*might*...have some metallurgy issues. I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that make be in an explosion of the gun fails....

do I "need" a mak90 Spring? The one linked is more than I wanted to pay but if it's my only option then so be it

Looks like pretty much run of the mill bakelites, but you have more Tulas than Izzys so that's cool. The type you're posting is the most common I've seen which is the mid-production Bakelite. Good OTK stamps on two of those, which is a quality control stamp. If you disassemble the magazine and look inside, sometimes you can actually find stamps inside the mag.

No issues with he gun so far, mind you I've only put roughly 100rds. The scope is another thing, which I'm still nigger rigging it so I can get the reticle to line up to the center when zeroed. Other than that pretty happy with the setup.

The problem I'm having is that I'm running out of windage adjustment, the bullet impact and the " ^ " reticle in the center are not even close. So I'm trying something out to correct this which involves some trial and error to see if it will hold zero.

The scope offset is not the issue.

Yep, I go so far into the right that the reticle in the scope is retardly to the right of the scope picture and I still need more adjustment cause the center reticle won't line up with the bullet impact.

I wish I had taken a pic, but my current fuckery with it seemed to have work and managed to get more windage adjustment. It's a Very simple fix though. Just needs more adjustment for sake of my autism and scope sight picture.

Grind the rivets down, punch them out, re-rivet the parts onto the new receiver.

>>30220183

You can do it with screws if you want.
>>
>>30220183
Most people use rivet smashing jigs in tandem with a press. I would not use a rivet gun on the more essential parts of an AK but for something like the trigger guard, pop rivets would probably be fine, but they might loosen over time if you put pressure on an inserted magazine.
>>
>>30220296
So in otherwords, I should take it to a gunsmith since I don't have a press?
>>
>>30220332
You should really watch a few videos on ak building, are you building a galil or an ak with galil parts? Most gunsmiths are not equipped to build an ak, try on local forms to see if anyone close has a press if u want you can do it by hand with a vice and putting the the head of the rivit on something than use a large punch to flatten the rivit, u can easily do this if you make a tool out of a punch that matchs the head of the rivit.
>>

I mean, you could try flushing them yourself with a steel bar to hold the rivets steady, a punch, and a hammer but expect to have ugly rivets and many broken punches.

Tell me why it wouldn't work. Metal trunion.
>>
>>30220970
You could make it work but without significant weight savings over a stamped steel receiver. The rails would have to be steel front to back. Moreover the section of the receiver that the rails attach to would have to be steel reinforced because of the stress the left side receiver rail undergoes during ejection. You can't rivet a steel trunnion inside a plastic receiver, that area would have to be steel reinforced, just steel reinforcements fucking everywhere. The trigger guard assembly couldn't be attached to just plastic or it would tear the receiver out if you dropped the rifle on the magazine. The area of the receiver where the pistol grip attaches would have to be steel reinforced. Hell, on folding stock AKs the Russians decided the regular steel receiver wasn't strong enough and doubled up with 2x steel using a pistol grip reinforcement plate. All for a weaker clusterfuck of plastic and steel that would not be significantly less in weight than a regular stamped receiver.

Ah thanks for replying to it. Yeah you'll need a slant cut adapter, and then for the forearm you may need a retaining clamp depending on the model of the handguard. Once you have both that really opens up your options for adding different stocks and handguards.

Mine is a Krebs Custom handguard from Atlantic that was cerakoted Sniper Green. It's pricey, but I love the look of it and it comes with all the hardware needed to have it installed.

5.45 is a mild enough, flat shooting enough, and cheap enough round that I don't think it's an issue.

Unless you want to mess with NFA paperwork you're going to be restricted to using an arm brace or cheek rest instead of a real stock with a short barreled rifle. (pistol)

Here is my cheapo AR pistol with a Shockwave Tech. KAK Blade cheek rest.

It's probably doable.
>>
>>30225165
Or... he can just get an SLR-104UR, chop the barrel, crown it, and get a muzzle extension that brings the barrel length to 16" and pin/weld it.

It's permanent in name only. It's not like you can't break/grind the weld and/or remove the pin once you want to SBR it.

No, Make 90's are generally interchangeable with other x39 AK parts. Stocks from models that were made in other countries will need some modifications to fit, due to the longer stock tang on the Mak. A standard AK spring and guide should work fine.

Real talk, why the fuck don't WASRs have mag dimples? I mean I understand the "why", as in they're brought in as sporters with single stack mags but there are half a dozen other AK rifles which have and currently are being imported with mag dimples. So... what the fuck? I mean the WASRs would literally be flawless otherwise.

You answered your own question.
Unrelated, who makes good underfolders? I don't want that shitty milled abomination made by Arsenal.
>>
>>30225872
I don't think they do it purely because they want to make a less appealing rifle.
>Unrelated, who makes good underfolders? I don't want that shitty milled abomination made by Arsenal.
The SAM7 under folders aren't bad but they're not the best. The N-PAP DF's are alright, otherwise you're looking at kit builds or older rifles like old Chinks and stuff
>>
>>30225896
I don't doubt that the SAM7s are probably decent rifles but to autistic pseudo purists like myself they're pretty awful.

All of the ones I use are the cheap MOE line or whatever they call them for around 12 bucks a pop. I've not used the M3 ones as I've heard they still have issues with cracking feed lips, as apparently. At almost 30 bucks, you've could have bought 3 steel surplus mags, or you're almost in bakelite territory. But my regular magpul ones aren't that old and are already having issues with the followers hanging up and not feeding correctly. Granted, they get dropped in the desert sand and whatnot, but that's all it takes for them not to function. Only good as range mags, IMO.

How much do you actually use your folder?
At least for me, I barely find a real reason to use the folders, except on my vz since it's stock actually makes for a quick deploy vehicle gun. My aks fold out too slowly to bother with because they need babying from start to finish instead of conveniently dropping into place at the push of a button.

>People still think dimples are there to stop mag wobble.
Here's a tip, they have fuck all to do with mag wobble.
They're for strengthening the receiver, and guiding the mag into its proper place, resting against the lower rails.

There are 2 main things that cause mag wobble.
1. Size of the magwell, and due to tolerance stacking, some mags will wobble in some guns and be fine in others.
2. Length of the mag catch. If it's too short the feed lips aren't pressed up onto the lower rails and the mag will rock.

The plates and dimples are both perfectly fine ways to achieve their goal.

Notice there's no dimples on most RPKs and they function fine.
There are also Izhmash AKs that didn't have dimples.
