Just hold on the top edge of the cardboard or at the bottom of the paper target using the square tip of your front sight post as reference and center it. Keep aiming there and don't think about it. That should land your shots closer together.

Sorta like why you see better groups with pistols with square targets vs round targets with new-guns shooters.

You also have to remember that people like to lie on the internet.

Also, some ranges are marked in feet, not yards or meters, and so some people might be getting their measurement terms mixed up.

Not that small 100 yard groups are impossible to get, especially with proper trigger control and a good solid rest position. But I also know that people like to embellish their abilities.

Personally, i prefer shooting from a standing position or while moving/being active, so I don't bother doing a lot of long range stuff anyway, nor do I worry much about grouping at anything past 50 yards.

I have a conversion barrel for my glock 23 too and haven't had any issues shooting 9mm. I haven't even changed anything else out like they recommend, just swap the barrels out. Make sure you get 9mm mags though.

But hundreds of 9mm through it without issue. It's an easy switch to. I swap between them at the range every time I go.

I literally just swapped barrels and got 9mm mags. It works like a charm and have shot 500 rounds through it at least with no problems. Only regret is buying the ported one from lone wolf so without a TLR-1 on it it looks gay.

I agree with this. i'm relatively accurate at the range.

Basically if I hit the paper within some space that I would consider center of mass on a silhouette then I consider it success...kind of like when Hickok is shooting steel plate from far away and is satisfied with a *ding sound.

I consistently hit slightly up and to the left of center. What am I doing wrong? My grouping will be one ragged hole after shooting so I'm not doing horrible but I'm constantly hitting to the left and slightly up.

To be fair familam, AK sights are kinda wonky. I have an astigmatism in my right eye and can't slap steel at 100 yd's benchrested missing 3/10 shots. Front sight is blurry as fuck.

With my based primary arms red dot it's 10/10 errytime.

If you don't know proper sight alignment (which OP clearly doesn't), and you're using magic slav open-leaf sights, that's the result.

Practice more. Trigger control, breath control, all the basics. I got my 5.45x39 saiga down to ~1.5 MOA with a tapco g2 memetrigger using 7n6

That is a good feel.

I first reached that point with a USP 9mm years and years ago. I can shoot the fuck out of one of those guns at 20 yards.

Even mag dumping at 10 yards i can shoot a 5 inch center-mass ball of death into a silhouette target. It's literally impossible not to smile when doing that.

Some guns take me a few hundred rounds to get really comfortable, but the trigger control lessons i learned with that old USP have always stuck with me and made me a better shooter for life.

Sup /k/, just shot a revolver for the first time last weekend.
Shot 30 rounds through it (ammo expensive as fuck here), it is a rental rossi 6 shot revolver in 38 special caliber.
Most of my shots were in double action, only a few in single action.
Distance = 10 meters (~11 yards)
The shots on the head I took a little longer to shoot (still double action), the ones on the chest were faster.
How did I do, /k/?

Try shooting really quickly sometimes. Mag dump, but return your sights to the target as quickly as possible after each shot.

That helped me get over a a flinch. I stopped thinking about each individual shot, which psyched me out sometimes, and I started squeezing the trigger properly.

Afterwards, my slow shooting got a lot better. The less I'm aware that the trigger is about to break, the better I shoot.

When I switched my shooting position from an isosceles to something more resembling a Weaver stance my groups improved considerably. At 7 yards I'm not putting up a single ragged hole because I still have a habit of pushing my gun to the left with my trigger pull sometimes, but I rarely have a 7-shot group larger than 3".

I can shoot paper plates at 300 meters with irons on an AR in the daylight with little effort, but when it's darker out I have a hell of a time seeing stuff past 50 meters. Everybody's different.

ARX 100 at 50 yards. I was shooting Fiocchi 55 gr since it's cheap. 50 shots, I reloaded like 6 or 7 times if that matters.
I was shooting sitting down with a sandbag under the front of the rifle.
I was using a red dot with a 3x magnifier.
I wear glasses and my eye sight is generally fucked up, so I am pretty happy with it.

I'm like that too: I don't get to shoot often enough with my rifles to be great, so when I look at my targets later and all I have is meh/10 group sizes I just think to myself "at least that'd still definitely kill a bad guy."

I recently overcame my flinch while going through police Academy. I only had it with pistols thanks to a 6"bbl .44. but in Academy we shot a .40 and I was focusing on aight picture with one eye, and the target with the other. All while slowly instructing myself through the shot. I shoot okay now, with no flinch.

Now just need to find out how to tighten my groups up as we get past 15 yards.
