newfag here, looking to build an ar-15 i found this kit that i liked and was wondering what else I need besides a lower. if this kit is shit I'd appreciate better options

Just because you can arc 5.56 accurately to 600+ yards doesn't mean you should.

You need tools if you want to do what your kit is requiring.
If you want to build your AR-15, go buy an upper + lower receiver + lower parts kit.
Not saying that you couldn't go buy the required vice, wrenches, mallets, and other stuff, but it's a lot for a kit that costs <500 dollars.
It also depends on your budget and your future plans.
Depending on how you plan to use it, either get an upper from BCM or a Freedom PSA and get a standard lower with a parts kit. Nothing too fancy.

My first AR was a Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22. I later upgraded to the 5.56 version. Now I own both that one and my newest AR is a Ruger 5.56. Fantastic and accurate rifle. Vortex Sparc II red dot sight is okay for the price. Just put fagpul tan furniture on it recently. I dig it. Gotta get into combat training though.
