Someone in Iraq must have read the last thread, I can't believe we had people shilling how good the Iraqi army was and then the Shia militia said they were fucking off from fallujah. It's like the Shia militia read it and said "ok if they're so good they got this, not like we've been doing most of the fighting or anything"

-As the SDF/YPG is getting nearer the city of Manbij at every hour, ISIS starts to prepare the city population to defend their ground.

-In Deir ez Zor, things are looking ugly for the SAA and friends as ISIS have captured the Al-Tayyim Hill, ilustrated by the video of the SAA soldiers apathetically fleeing under fire;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPN_XlfiAgI [Embed]

Also reports tha a Russian cargo plane parachuted four pallets of arms onto the SAA Deir ez Zor military airbase. And that one SAA General Sulayman As'ad Khudour was killed in action. ( I dont consider the source from this last one, Malkomite, very reliable)

- In the Ithriya-Taqba/Raqqa Highway front, things are going better for the SAA mix of forces racing to Raqqa. Pro SAA sources report that they have captured Bir Abu al `Allaj, 11km away from the Zakia crossroad, early this morning, and now there are reports of the capture of Bīr Ambaj, following east. According to SOHR, ISIS lost contact with 35 of their fighters defending the area.

Pro Kurdish sources are claiming that the SDF/YPG have reached the Dadat village and the Jarablus-Manbij Road, blocking the way between the two cities.

About the downed plane in South Aleppo, the Rebels are saying that they already captured the two pilots, near Al Eis, and they are now in the hands of Jaish Al-Fateh. But still no pictures of them.

This remembered me that the Manbij Military Council stated that now they will call the Manbij operation under the name 'Martyr and Commander Faysal AbuLeyla'. YPG have this costume of giving their operations/offensives the name of recent important killed fighters.

SDF also found a ISIS warehouse that produced fake weapons "in an attempt to mislead coalition aircraft", in Abu Qalqal.

Oooh, this. Nope, no news have appeared about it much on it after the Russian MOD denied that it was ISIS doing, and nobody commented about it again.

The latest news from near Palmyra is that the SAA is trying to advance east of the city, again, and captured some grain silos.

My last reports for the day:

-Markito (believe it or not) reported that ISIS retook Bīr Nabāj from the SAA, who took the village early today, in the road that leads to Raqqa. It could be just Markito coming with shit again, but who knows. Ivan is saying this is bullshit.

-Bonsjo is reporting that Rebels made big gains today near Damascus, as they captured some 14 locations from ISIS, and are about to take Bir Qassab.

-Pro Rebels sources are saying that Rebels are making more gains in SOuth Aleppo, but nothing really clear until now.

-Al masdar (Arab Source) write an article saying that Hezbollah (the Original) have almost all his contingent in Syria stationed near the capital Damascus, and that they are not present in Aleppo anymore.

-Hassan has reported that 11 rebel groups in Syria, to revive the original idea of the now almost defunct FSA, have formed the "Popular Deterrence Forces" in Turkey, lead by SAA defectors officers. They will be led by Maj. Gen. Mohamad Fares, Maj. Gen. Mohamad Haj Ali and Brig. Gen. Zaher Saket. Good luck with that.

To end, if you remember wel, ISIS took a Iranian Safir 4x4 with 106mm in Khanasser, some months ago. The same vehicle was now seen fighting the Rebels near Azaz. This goes to show that what ISIS took they really redistributes, and don't necessarily stay with the local ISIS forces that acquired it.

12 days later, Google maps now features the base in map mode instead of the previous blank space and updated the images in satellite mode. You can see how they now bother dispersing their helicopters, and how they haven't bothered with dispersing their planes, because apparently planes are immune or something.

There were no street battles. Just one-sided slaughter, as daesh was completely overwhelmed by the heroic iraqi army or fled in sheer terror.
Our most valiant soldiers have now stopped the offensive to allow the last poor kids to get evacuated and give the enemy rats time to surrender, which they surely are doing right now after having whitnessed just how outclassed they are. Everything is fine and well, insh'allah.

Hahahaha I just have to admit, terrorist groups are some ingenious bastards.

Supposedly in 2000, NYT and some military analysts went to Serbia and uncovered the fact that nearly 90% of US airstrikes hit faked/broken vehicles or equipment during the 1999 campaign.

This is in stark contrast to American claims in 1999 of a 90% kill rate on operational targets.

The reason the picture is suspicious is because the helicopters and exploded trucks were so far apart.
The rockets that would have hit them, would have had to have hit both areas to cause such a chain reaction.

There's no confirmation from America other than a fire on the T-4 base.

Nothing much interesting to report from Syria, until now.
The SAA forces racing for Raqqa didn't move today., and according to Ivan the last place they took yesterday was Abo El Alaj village, and didnt advanced any further.

I read what some of the anons commented about the use of armor in this desert area, comparing to the Homs region, against ATGM equipped ISIS, but I think both are diferent cases; both are deserts, but Homs was full of hills and moutains that could serve as good spot to duck hunt SAA armor and vehicles. Raqqa is almost totally flat desert area, for what I can see in the maps and photos posted, making the ATGM more dificult, I think.

The real problem with SAA advance into Raqqa, it's that seems they are only securing the highway and the immediate surroundings of the advancing force. Of course that the majority of the areas around the road are just empty deserts, but if they dont take care, ISIS forces could not only attack their flanks, but also get their rear and cut off the supply line of the "SAA Raqqa tour" convoy.

Anyway, here's a image of how things should be turning around with the Sirte offensive, in Libya; The logo of the little man holding a flag, left side of the map, are the Misrata Forces, but I really not certain about the two shields in the right lower corner.

The Ghardabiya Airbase was listed as disputed between ISIS and the Misrata Brigades, two days ago.

There are clashes in the Saadi camp, south of Sirte, between ISIS and the Misrata. And clashes are still being reported in Benghazi, between the LNA and ISIS.

The Russian , Iranian , SAA commands seem disjointed to me. They are going in separate directions. Do they break the Deir siege? Race to Raqqa? Battle for Aleppo? Finish Ghoutas? They can't make up their minds.

Also what are the SAA tiger forces doing in Aleppo anyway. I haven't seen Col Tiger's face since Shaer.

It doesn't look like their franchising is very successful.

First IS in Libya lost a lot of ground around Sirte and Bani Walid to Government of National Accord forces since last month; they even lost Derna months back. Then IS in Yemen barely holds any territory outside Lawdar and the Shabwah countryside. Their only successes are at the Sinai, and that's on a preexisting allied rebel group that has been fighting long before IS' adventures outside Syria/Iraq.

I can't say I know exactly what the SAA is doing but I think that when it comes to Raqqa they'll stop at Tabqa and consolidate/fortify their gains and simply blockade Raqqa from northern Aleppo/Turkey, until 1-2 years from now when Raqqa siege begins.
They did it now to synchronize their attack with that of the YPG/SDF and maximize the effectiveness of both of them as its harder for IS to defend themselves from a two sided attack than it is to defend themselves from a one sided attack.

Some good news for the SAA, from pro SAA sources, to report:

- In the Raqqa deserts, Ivan reported that the SAA mix have captured the little village of Khirbat Zaydān, putting them now only 5km away from the Taqbah crossroads and Safaiyeh oil field.

-Arab source is reporting that the SAA was able to take back the Tal Tayyim hilltop, in Deir ez Zor.

- In the east of Palmyra, Hassan ridha reported that the SAA have taken control of 3 points east of al Kaziyah, and are now less than 10km from the Arak gas field.

Here's a photo of the Abu Leyla, SDF commander killed by sniper fire near Manbij, funeral in Kobani, where you can see some SDF commanders. The little gramp with the fab beard in the middle, is the deputy commander of the Jaysh Thuwar al Raqqah.

US intelligence community believes that it wasn't an attack by ISIL per say, but an accident. However, there were reports that ISIL launched a GRAD arty strike near where the air base is located, so (my opinion) it might be that the ISIL rocket attack might have lead to the accident that took out the heli's. Either due to the fact that they were rushing to refuel the helis before the base got hit or because a piece of shrapnel hit the refueling trucks.

>>30190482
even the Russians reported the incident. Its not a matter of if it happened, but how.

https://www.rt.com/news/344254-russian-helicopters-isis-syria/

"Meanwhile Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing a source at the T4 base, that that the helicopters were damaged as a result of a fire at the airfield."

Who knows, we'll probably find out once the war is done or if some Russian leaks the incident report.

In other news, YPG have taken the town of Jubb Al-Kalb Kabeer to the south west of Manjib while YPG in the north are at the outskirts (can see the city from their positions) and the units to the east are still advancing down the M4 highway.

Fighting is still ongoing in the southern Fallujah district of Al Shuhdda and reports that a mass grave was found in Fallujah.

did you bother to read the first line of the article that you linked?

>The Russian Defense Ministry has denied reports that Islamic State militants destroyed four Russian helicopters at an air base in Syria’s Homs province.

At any rate, the stratfor photos were fakes, at least in part so we dont have any reliable source confirming anything
>>
>>30190561
russians say they were SAA helicopters destroyed when they retook the base

the only indication that russian helis were damaged was the faked stratfor photo
>>
>>30190561
Yeah, like one anon said when it happened, Ivan slipped on a banana peel, dropped a steel drum of gasoline right on top of a flint rock causing a spark which exploded the helicopters, one after the other. One of the rotors flew over to the supply depot, straight through the bunker and into a stash of mortars, causing them all to explode straight up into the air, drop down, pock-marking the entire base, putting holes into the Mig and leaving only ashes behind where the depot sat and the [photoshopped?] helicopters were stationed
>>
>>30180302
Did those Jets get disabled as well? Or was it just the helicopters that got destroyed?
>>
>>30190595
>when they retook the base
The syrian government never lost Tiyas.
>>
>>30190582
they reported it happened, but denied that ISIL was involved in the destruction of the aircraft.

You're confusing my opinion of what happened with what the Russians have stated. I never claimed that the Russians acknowledged ISIL's involvement, they simply stated that something happened and that the heli's were taken out.

Hell, it might be that those are old heli's that were taken out a while ago. Again, we won't know for sure until either the war is over, third party observers look at the base for whatever reason or someone leaks a report (the latter two are unlikely).
>>
>>30190582

Thanks for the info, anon, but i didn't find any of it in my pro SAA sources, only this map on Al Masdar.

Only thing to report now is that early in the day Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, vowed to "actively support" the SAA with the Ruaf, around Aleppo. The statement left any reader with some suppositions; will Russia increase their airforces presence in the Aleppo region? Its this mainly because of the recent gains of the Rebels on South Aleppo or its a indirect for more air support for a new coming SAA operation on the Aleppo region?

Also, this good article about the infighting inside the Rojava and SDF, distrust between the kurds and arabs, and the PYD and KNC clash of positions;

That maps seems a bit off, because it was reported than the SAA was 24km from Assad lake, which means the tip of the advance opened up a bit, with some army units going straight north.

I guess they'll start meeting serious resistance after taking the Taqba crossroads and approaching either the highway or the airbase.

But now, the chances of this happening seems to be shrinking, even more with the US SF accompanying the SDF/YPG near Manbij, doubt that Turkey will dare try their luck. Of course that the SDF didn't get to the border with Turkey and the city of Jarbulus, maybe if they get there things could change and Turkey would get more agressive. Until there, Turkey will still content themselves bombing the SDF/YPG in Afrin.
>>
Anyway, latest Reports from the Manbij front:
-Both pro SAA and pro SDF sources are reporting the capture of 9 villages in area, today (anda a Potato factory); latest clashes reported are from near Kirsan, south of al Dadat and around Jabal Aqra/Kaber Kabir, south of Manbij.

The SDF is also dealing with a ISIS pocket between the Tishreen dam and Qareqowzaq bridge.

One of the pro Kurdish twitter sources commented that; "It seems SDF is advancing towards the Hills near Arima village, to cut Al Bab-Manbij road."

He was already correct once, during the first days of the Manbij operation, and if memory doesn't fail me, the YPG/SDF already did something similar when they took Shadadi; cutting the main objetive from all neraby allied positions that could reinforce him, so it could be.

Here's a map of the current situation;

No. I hate them too, and I wish to see thousands of Turks and Russians slaughter each other. But the cold geopolitical math of it is that Turkey hates and fears Russia, and Turkey happens to own the 1 water connection from the Black Sea to the Med.

Per Al Masdar (Arab Source) the majority if not all their forces in Syria is now located around Damascus, as they are still fighting to clean the Qalamoun Mountains.

It could be only Al Masdar bullshit too, as recently I read that one Hezbollah commander was killed in the Raqqa front. But it's really already some time that I don't see much footage of Hezbollah operating in Syria.

Just a friendly reminder that /k/ is a shitting ground for egdy faggots and vatnikbot testing ground where american 'gun owners' with homosexual tendencies like to jack each other off and seriously think they can fight in a war or kill people because they have guns to shoot at bottles.
The saddest part of this shithole you call a 'weapons board' are these 'middle east threads' where most of you root for isis or 'fsa' or al nusra because your tax money went to them so they could kill Assad, but failed.
Dont bother, any of you, you dont know what the fuck goes on there, you dont know what the fuck are you shitposting about, russian troll bots are being tested on your weak minds and you are giving money to people that are paid to post and piss you off.

I am reading something I found on reddit here on the battle of Fallujah
http://www.niqash.org/en/articles/security/5286/Extremists%E2%80%99-Tactics-On-Fallujah%E2%80%99s-Frontlines.htm
Some key points
>there are estimated to be between 700 and 1,000 IS fighters still in Fallujah
My same estimate in my Fallujah warmup
>During the first week or so, the IS group’s fighters did not initiate any clashes and withdrew from the suburbs into the city centre
That is why I thought the Iraqis/Shia would make it close to the city center initially even if I thought they would be stalled.
>A combat battalion, named the Uzbek Battalion, is now fighting the Iraqi army; it has about 300 members from places like Chechnya and Uzbekistan
I noticed in several Fallujah videos these IS guys looked like pros. Maybe they are Chechens mentioned. They are running the defense too. Echoes of Grozny.
>Another surprising discovery were a series of secret tunnels that the IS group apparently planned to use to encircle attackers
dem tunnels
>The IS group also seems to have better snipers than the Iraqi army
As seen in the Shia gunner shot in the lungs video
>Now it seems that the battle for Fallujah will be long and hard –it is also clear that all parties will need to cooperate
Playing out how I thought it would.

Granted, they're getting American air support, but I didn't expect the SDF to pull off what amounts to a near-encirclement of Manbij in just over a week. it's the kind of lightning advance IS was able to do in 2013-2014. I'm just wondering why IS is so half-assed about maintaining a buffer to a strategic city.

Once the IS pockets are mopped up, what will be left to watch is whether the IS defense of Manbij holds or fails.

Manbji could be defended from the inside. Like you said we'll have to wait and see if IS wants make this thing house to house or run. I don't think US advisers would opt for a large city assault yet. SDF/YPG simply doesn't have the manpower for that kind of thing.

Two good news for the Kurds in Syria, in a more politically matter;

- First, the PYD confirmed that Kurds have gotten an invite to the next round of the Syrian peace talks, from UN envoy, Staffan de Mistura.

Finally this important major player will take part in that mess called peace talks, if it will help to improve the pace of the peace talks, or will only help to bogged down even further the dialogues, with yet another demanding faction, is yet to be seen.

- Second, Simalka border crossing between KRG (Iraqi kurdistan) and Rojava (Syrian kurdistan) has been re-opened.

I have read in other thread some YPG volunteers saying that this border being closed was probably the main reason for the YPG for not accepting much new volunteers.

They lost about 800 in a month in 2006 vs. 2,000 in 5 years in Syria.

Their current situation is pretty bad, they're overstretched and having their own mini-vietnam. They have to stay, because the Iranians say so as without Iran there is no hezbollah.

Even after the conventional phase of the syria war ends there's still years of sectarian violence in the style of iraq ahead. Hezbollah is not going to be free to go messing with Israel again anytime soon.

And all the while, Israel takes potshots at them as Russia (who ostensibly is allied with Hezbollah is Syria) actively cooperates with them doing so.
>>
>>30203154
This came as Netanyahu was meeting with Putin in Moscow. Obviously he told Putin at the very least or got his approval in doing the strike.

This is not the first time that Russia has okay-ed a strike on Hezbollah. They actively gave Israel intelligence on where their commander Samir Kuntar was before he was blown up.
