So, what kind of caliber gets stopped by an Apple product?

Impressive. These things are really well built. I've seen a video on jewtube of that FullMag guy shooting iPhone with a .50 cal and the thing doesn't disintegrate... there's only a large hole in it. He shot a bunch of other phones as well with it but they shattered to pieces.

So sad, could be one less roach.

lucky the lithium battery didn't ignite from thermal runaway.

We actually shot up a Samsung phone at a /k/ meet once (with battery removed) and it completely stood up to buckshot, 9mm, .45, etc. All of which was stopped by the gorilla glass, not the body of the phone itself, which was useless. Only 2 penetrations were 5.56mm and 8mm Mauser. Range was ~25m.
Insofar as I know an Apple phone would be built roughly the same way. Gorilla glass is no joke. Shit's strong.

Judging by the pic we have a frontal impact on the glass with the bullet passing through and blowing out the back, which is peeled open. That looks like one of our two rifle impacts. Therefore, I believe that the guy was shot with a rifle but perhaps at much longer range. Bullet still passed through bending up the back of the case but must have lost a good chunk of it's velocity and began fragmenting in the process, thereby potentially saving the victim's life.

Would making armor out of gorilla glass be a possibility?
>>
.50 cal or lower that has ricocheted or lost enough velocity to not penetrate a thin aluminum and glass device that is 1/2 an inch thick.
>>
>>30173442

It would be pretty phoned-in.

There was a guy who, no joke, dropped his phone from almost ten thousand feet up out of his private plane, and the damn thing worked. They're pretty rugged.

Is Dick Cheney hunting again?
>>
>>30175700
Well, a smarphone is pretty light, so it won't accelerate past a certain speed. Dropping it from 100m would have had the same effect.

That is common for most modern electronics. If you submerge something, just turn it off and put it in uncooked rice.
