people living in london look at the skies v22 osprey are flying over your heads
>>
Whereabouts over London? I'm in the Fulham area and I ain't seein shit
>>
>>30071137
Burger here. Why is this a big deal.
>>
because they're beautiful and uk gov is buying them even if they're not suitable for combat, whih means they will be used to move soldiers, which means uk gov is planning to send more troops somewhere
>>
>>30071153
>Talking out of my ass, the post
>>
I saw one going east from sw, I was in pimplico and it was flying over vauxhall, saw another one going north from se, I was in elephant and castle
>>
>>30071163
Such goofy names.
>>
>>30071148
It's not.
>>
There were 2 going to London city airport earlier. Plus a chinook later on. Cool as fuck.
>>
Check out the adsb exchange sometime. Its not a global network yet but you can filter military aircraft to view. Its based on a private radio receiver network. I see these Ospreys over the UK pretty often.
>>
>>30071137
>>30071147
Is this a big deal in bongistan? I see Ospreys, f16s, f22s etc about twice a month here
>>
>>30072224
I used to get in trouble in high school for staring up at the A-10s overhead during football practice.
>totally worth it
>>
>>30072233
Why not, A10s are much more interesting than throwing a ball around.
>>
>>30072224
I live near an AFB and i see fighter jets all the time.
>>
They've been bought as fast transports for the SAS incase of any terror attack in the UK.
>>
>>30072224
Well we don't own any Ospreys so it's fairly unusual.

I live near a BAE airfield so I regularly see Tornadoes, Typhoons and Hawks

Now the biggest terror in the UK is actually having to ride in an Osprey.

Those could legit be English place names
>>
>>30072315
I see now.
>>
>>30072335
They're all areas in London, although it should read Pimlico not Pimplico, unless there's somewhere with that even more unfortunate name I don't know. (Which is fairly possible as not native Londoner)
>>
>>30072282
Why not just buy some STOL planes that can land on roads or something, instead of piece of shit osprey

These things crash a lot
>>
>>30072415
>Why not just buy some STOL planes that can land on roads or something
Do you know of any planes like that which can carry 8-12 fully equipped men?
>>
>>30072415
If it's not VTOL it would be useless for any such role. Pieces of road long/straight/unobstructed enough for even a couple 100 feet takeoff/landing roll are essentially nonexistent in urban areas, whereas parks, large junctions or car parks large enough for at least a helicopter are relatively common. Osprey is going to be somewhat more restricted in options, but still far better than STOL that would have to land outside of pretty much any town/city and transfer to cars/buses/whatever to get further.
>>
>>30072440
An A-10 with SAS instead of munitions.
>>
>>30071168
thats londonistan for you
>>
>>30072415
Incase there is a terror threat to shipping or our oil rigs, STOL isnt much use in that scenario
>>
>>30072475
You mean mount those insane rescue pod things on all the wing hardpoints and deploy guys from them? That's crazy enough to need to happen, bonus points having them either parachute out of them, of have the whole pod dropped and use a parachute at the last possible moment.

Oh shit! They're probably coming to take your gu-

Wait a minute.
>>
>>30072414
Oh you mean like Piccadilly?
>>
>>30072549
Yes. We've had many hundreds of years thinking up place names, and long since ran out of the sensible ones after which we went through pretty much all of the slightly silly ones too, then onto quite a number of frankly ridiculous ones. We probably don't want to know how the settlement near me called Catbrain got its name.
>>
>>30072315
>Well we don't own any Ospreys so it's fairly unusual.

Not if you live sort of Suffolk/Norfolk way.

The USAF have a squadron of Ospreys permanently based at RAF Mildenhall with 352nd Special Operation Group, so you see them quite regularly around that part of the country
>>
saw one here in Cali a few days ago. may have been from an air show, though.
>>
Duxford's got an airshow this weekend so they will probs be showing up there as well.

Where do you live? I'm in bay area and I've only seen a f22 and f35 once or twice. I see lots of c130s, chinooks once, galaxies sometimes, seen a few f15/16/18s too but not very frequently. Used to get strange looks in school when I'd just stare up at planes
>>
>>30072321
The CH-53 has a higher mishap rate, and you don't see people bitching about them.
>>
>>30071137
Careful bongs.

We might just 'accidently' crash one into Buckingham Palace or Big Ben for some payback for 1812.

Just in case y'all get uppity again.
