That's exactly my conundrum. I don't have a 9mm Glock so honestly it's not a con for me, but the Glock lowers are more available and cheaper, at least on PSA. I'm going to get a stripped one, Glock or Colt, SBR it, then build it piece by piece over the 4-5 months that the stamp will take.

This build will run about $1300, depending on where I cheap out and where I splurge

Is there a reason why you arent just buying an MP5?

How heavy are these things generally? Its for my wife. Shes petite and has trouble shouldering a full size rifle or even my M85 SBR. This is a prime reason why SBR laws are fucking asinine. A pistol caliber carbine with a short barrel under 6 pounds would be perfect for her, or even a short pencil barrel AR with light handguards...full size rifles are just too front heavy for her and bullpups are too fucking expensive to even consider.

I've considered it. The MP5K is essentially going to be the twin to this. I guess price comes into play. The Zenith MP5K starts at about $1600 from where I've seen, then I'd need the stamp and then a stock which would bring it closer to $2000. My AR will be right around the $1200 mark, give or take a hundred. I can justify that over a 5 month span. Hard to justify throwing down $1800 on an MP5 pistol and stamp, especially considering I just bought a suppressor and a VZ-61+stamp and a bunch of other gun shit.

I built one with a PSA lower and 9mm parts kit. Personally, I dont see the reason to SBR a 9mm only lower. shit, maybe ill want to change to another caliber down the line. Right now I have to use an adapter with my 45 osprey but I have a 9mm octane on the way so I'm planning one of those long rail short barrel type things as well.

HIHGLY recommend not adding more shit to gum up when you're suppressing a 9mm AR. Don't get the side charging upper.

Also no one makes a 4.5" barrel.

Also, when you get a 5" barrel, beware handguard diameter. You will need to be able to fit not just your 3 lug adapter under it, but also a quarter inch of your suppressor every time you compress the 3 lug adapter spring to attach or remove it.

Also there's only one 5" keymod rail, and it's not big enough to fit a 3 lug adapter, let alone part of the suppressor.

Yeah they do make 4.5" 9mm barrels. Googling 9mm AR barrels will yield you them on the first page. Trying to keep it subsonic with 147g loads. Was not able to find a lot of info on where exactly a 147g goes supersonic.

I'd like the threads to be flush with or just slightly past the end of the handguards. I think I will need a 4" rail for this. They're uncommon but I've spent a lot of time digging and they are out there.

I'm also considering other ways to mount the can, because id like a brake when I'm not shooting suppressed. I found a muzzle brake with built in tri lug by Nemo (pic related) but its in .308 and costs $150. This would be the best option if I could get it reamed to 9mm. Super gucci

no idea what you mean by this. I'm saying that while I'm waiting for my paperwork to clear, I'll buy the pieces bit by bit and assemble it. I could do it in a week if I wanted. This will be my 3rd SBR and my 3rd AR (other two are full size 5.56).

I believe it. I submitted mine in february of last year on a trust using efile and got mine 4 months later to the day, and that was before the rule change announcement. Imagine how many they have to process now.

Use the nfa tracker website. Wait times are going up, but the form 1 trust efile was about 90 days earlier this year. I would guess as well that it has been creeping into the 4-5 month range, probably will get to 6-7 before 41F. Hope to have more than a few stamps in by the deadline.

On cool days where condensation kicks in, I get black sludge dripping out the gap between upper and lower receivers, dripping out the bolt catch slot, the top of my finger turns black from the trigger hole and my right cheek has a black crescent shape under my eye.

I see the 4.5" but not with a tri-lug pattern. 5" is more common. Refer again to the handguard clearance issue, that 1/2" may also make a difference there.

This was the first image search result, but it does not match my experience. My 5" does not allow 147+ grain to travel supersonic. I'm at 400 ft altitude, the speed of sound here is a little under 1150 FPS. So here, a 147 grain 9mm goes supersonic at the same speed anything else does; 1150 FPS.

How are you going to get a differently-branded, different-caliber, differently-threaded muzzle brake to interface in any way with your suppressor, which I would assume is an aluminum pistol model of some sort? And why would you want one on a 9mm anyway? The heavy 9mm bolt is what makes recoil strong, not the cartridge. A brake isn't going to affect the force of the bolt moving.

Also, OP, I have a Colt mag block AR9, it is ok, but picky about mags (it doesn't like my psa one) and it took a lot of tinkering to get it functional. I used pretty much PSA everything on it fwiw.

It's also somewhat picky with ammo, I'm hoping this Glock lower AR9 will be more reliable.

The 4.5 is in 1/2x36; there are tons of tri lug adapters you can find in that pattern.

The image you posted is for 115 grain. Glad to hear that a 5" is still subsonic, I might go that way for handguard clearance.

Well, there are shoulderless thread adapters from 1/2x36 to the threading of that brake, all that would need to be done is to ream it out from 308 to 9mm. I do not know if that tri lug is the same size and pattern as a standard HK tri lug; assuming it is since I believe it is meant for 300blk which you can suppress with a pistol can since most are rated for subsonic 300blk
