Is a gun with a spiral barrel possible?
Yes
It's called "Rifling"
I WANT SQUARE BULLETS
SQUARE BARRELS WHEN

Myth busters made a 90 degree corner barrel and a nearly 180 degree barrel. Surely it wears the shit out of it, but the velocity was like 90-100% of a straight barrel.
Germany already don did it.

Beat me to It! Against hitters orders too... then he ended up loving it

>doesnt even fire it
waste of 7 mins

>nearly a 180 degree barrel
so, like, a normal straight barrel?
>>29948368
Already done. In 1718.
The Puckle Gun was used with square bullets when fighting against non-Christian enemies.

he says "frankly" in this one at 5:46
Why aren't bullets sharp? Wouldn't a sharp, triangular point at the end of the round penetrate further than a smooth, rounder one?

>>29948368
Cubular shot exists. It's ok.
>>29950415
Modern bullets are pretty sharp for aerodynamics. They're a bit flat so they flatten more on impact to impart more energy (to break more bones and tear more flesh), but AP rounds tend to have a good tip to them. The penetrators inside are even sharper.

In theory, it'd work with enough lubrication, but the turbulence from the gases would slow everything down. A straight line is most efficient.

>180
>straight forward to straight forward
kill all americans
>>29950415
there was a weird thread a long time ago where someone asked that question and some idiot said "lol we can just pay retards to sharpen the bullets its not expensive guise" then it developed into a clusterfuck of people arguing over the logistics of such an idea
Basically sharp pointed bullets have a higher drag coefficient so any advantage in penetration from shape is lost in the lower velocity ballistics.
>>29950415
"As little as possible, as much as necessary" is a good term when talking about bullet penetration. If you have too much, such as a bullet with a steel penetrator, you just poke neat little 5.56/7.62mm holes in people.
>Not loop-de-loop barrels for style points

Has emailing KEL-TEK ever worked?
Do they even read your ideas?
>>29950652
>Kel-Tec was not, in fact, the first people who attempted a double barreled pump action shotgun
>There's no commercially available pump action 4+1 40mm shotgun available on the market a la that Russian riot shotgun
>You will never be burgled while you grab your giant-ass boomstick
>You will never spend 8 bucks on a single proprietary shell of Hexa-aught buckshot to literally blow someone in half

First post best post, underrated, and not even checked. For shame.
>>29950502
>a 180 degree angle is something other than a straight line
How's middle school coming along?
>>29950036
I meant just like the pictured OP image.

That would be a backwards facing barrel if it were facing straight forward it would be a 0 degree barrel.
These are silly when you have modern tech to take care of this. It even has a camera so you can actually aim it properly instead of relying on exploding the bullet to try to get everything around the corner.
