I think I have the Fanciest, most Expensive hand Nugget on the board. 1913 Tula, Original DA Officers Model, not a conversion. No Import marks, never been refurbished, all matching including grips, still has 85% of the Factory bluing including a fire-blued Hammer, trigger and Flatspring, along with the original Imperial Russian Stampings.

Paid $240 OTD, came with a holster for a Model 1883 Reichrevolver, sold the Holster for $300. Gun itself is worth around $1200

I doubt it, because if it is someone spent a lot of time, money and effort to find the correct one, the bluing matches the trigger and spring, and it has the correct Circle hammer proof on it

Most of the details of what i'm going to say was what was told to me by my grandmother. Don't dismiss it as a lie too quckly

My grandfather was a fanatical gun collector. One of his more shady business transactions was the trade of an industrial crane (worth about 1/2 million) for one of the only 2 .45 cal luger pistols in existance, his was serial no. 1.

This gun was beautiful, i only recall seeing it once when i was about 6 and i can verify all the descriptions of "the million dollar luger". My grandfather took his luger everywhere, never letting anyone touch it and he only took it out when he was in trouble for scamming someone (which often happened) or when he was shitfaced drunk.
My grandfather died in 1998, when he was met with blunt trauma to the head at the top of the stairs to his apartment. His ciggarette dropped to the floor at the top, making a fall or accident impossible. On his corpse, his holster was found but his prized .45 luger was not.
The family immediatly suspected foul play, as the man never left the house without the luger and never parted with it. We tore his apartment apart completely, looking through cushions, celing tiles, taking a metal detector to the walls, anything to find the gun, but found nothing.

It's common knowledge serial no. 1 for the .45 luger has dropped out of existance, but i'm convinced it was owned by my shady grandfather between the mid 80's and 1998. Not much suprises me about someone being motivated to kill him.

Belive me or don't but i know what i saw.

There were about two dozen made. At least three were used in the trials with one surviving and two others tested to destruction.

No, There were several of them made, the "Million Dollar Luger" is fuddlore

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EHXRTJETqM
>>
>>29949816
Three known to have been used in testing, more likely six. Magazines were numbered to the specific gun and serial numbers up to 26 have been found.
People like to believe the myth of only 2 existing because it's sexier than a factory cranking out a few dozen to test tooling for a potential contract.

Anyone have a good guide on how to refinish antique guns without ruining them forever? I purchased 3 Ruby pistols for $150 a pop (all have rust and shit bluing) and would like to restore them to their former WW1 glory.

There's pretty much always someone in this house, and we have guns all over the place, so dont think anyone would ever get a chance to steal them. They were my grandfathers. Grew up with them, and they were always stored this way. relics from a time when people werent thieves and children were taught about firearms properly I guess.

Even as a kid I got an ass whooping if I went in there unsupervised. Lucky for me, he was always in the gun room anyways. 2 of the other walls are full of guns as well.
