Finished assembling the budget ar-10 project last night ($800), took it to the range today. Friggin' tack driver w/ Remmy UMC and Federal Lake City. Problem is there's something that needs to get broken in; the bolt is sticking closed, and it's a bitch and a half to charge when it previously closed normally. It cycles fine with .308, but 7.62x51 doesn't have the oomph to overcome the stick and drive the bolt ALL the way back. It'll eject, not chamber the next round, then stick closed, and be a bitch to charge. .308 cycles great, though. 30 rounds through it so far. I'm gonna inspect for any abnormal wear or burrs when I clean it, and grease everything involved with locking the action. I wonder if I missed a spot of factory preservative.
