http://www.defensenews.com/story/defense/international/asia-pacific/2016/05/12/grse-export-light-frigates-philippines/84280572/

>Philippines has chosen India's state-run Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Ltd to build 2 brand new, state-of-the-art, advanced light frigates fo around USD 321 million
>GRSE's light frigate will be a design based on the Indian Navy's Kamorta-class anti-submarine corvette and will be capable of withstanding Sea State 7, which means it can withstand a wave height of up to 9 meters.
>The 2,000-tonne frigate will be 95 meters long, have a combined diesel and diesel (CODAD) configuration propulsion system and be able to work in an area contaminated with nuclear, biological, and chemical agents.
>It will have a tactical data link and radio capable of tactical communication. The frigates will have 76mm naval guns and fire control radar with a built-in electro-optical tracking system integrated into the Combat Management System (CMS).

Bring it on, China! Philippines Navy is the most advanced navy in east asia, arguably second only to JNSDF

No SAM?
Well, not that it matters.

Looks like the Chinese now have to develop a designated smell-seeking anti-ship missile to counter that new shit(p).

Coming in 2017 with the VL-Mica missiles.

But this is a dedicated ASW hunter ship for submarines in the littorals.

Wat
>>
Seriously, tho.

Why would Dudu need to confront China?

Fellow authoritarians understand each other and China would actually be ready to give concessions for someone who openly wants to sever ties with America and Australia.
>>
>>29934796
China is fucking everything up with their land grabbing.

In 20 years the Asia pacific region is going to become the world's most dangerous nuclear hotbed. Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, etc. are all going to develop nuclear weapons.

Philippines and Indonesia already canned their nuclear programs some time ago and are now staring to regret it after Chinese aggression in SCS. US hasn't really done anything with Obama as president. Meanwhile, America bends over backwards to appease countries like Pakistan that developed nukes.
>>
>>29933103
>yfw every deck is a poop deck
>>
>>29934831
>Landgrab

It is not a landgrab if it is just China taking back what the colonialists have stolen in the first place and the newly created post colonial countries like Philippines and Vietnam "inherited" from the colonial land-grabs of France and the USA.

Even before the Commies even were a thing, China protested against the French/US landgrabs of those islands during the 1920. A time when Philippines werent even existing.

But that's not a problem for China to give concessions to a Philippines that will sever ties with the US.
>>
>>29934864
Sorry, but the 9 yard dash is complete bullshit.

China thinks that they can overextend their claim to 'compromise' with countries like Philippines.

What is actually going to happen in nuclear proliferation in the next two decades. Enjoy your nuclear backyard I guess.
>>
>>29934883
No problem.

All of Asia aside of China are one-bomb countries with one-bomb people. In a nuclear race, noone aside of China could win, who will have Fallout-styled Vaults in their mountainous regions where at least a few hundred thousands will survive, while all of the island monkeys of Asia pacific will be wiped out by China's arsenal with no survivors. And Dudu/Abe etc. know this. Which is why they arent going to pursue nuclear arms.
>>
>>29934853
Came here to post this.
Designated poop decks.
>>
>>29934926
That sounds perfect!

No more Chinese but a few hundred thousand infertile people slowly dying off in hermetically sealed vaults. And all the AESAN countries all dead.

Plus it will be good cover for Russia and US to sign off on an agreement to Nuke the reminder of China 'to ensure global stability and neutralize China's remaining arsenal' and then split up the land.

And Tibet and Xijang can be independent from a non-existent China.
>>
I find it interesting that a country with the capacity to take commission for warships is unable to get it's population to poo in the loo.

I really want to know the actual social reasoning behind this.
>>
>>29935121
>?
It's actually pretty simple. The British took control of the country from the sea, the north (especially what is now pakistan) is far closer to the natural state the country would be in without British rule, which is basically shitting in the streets tier.

Well what were the other offers?

$320M for 2 ships makes it a solid mid-range price, so there must have been some good competition.
>>
>>29937199
Hyundai, Daewoo and Navantia.

GRSE only won because it would have been cheap as fuck. The South Koreans already make fine warships for a tight budget.
>>
>>29937385
No, but what were the ships themselves?

The Kamorta class must have been of a substantial better value for the PN to go for a shipbuilder that has never exported a ship before.
>>
I'm a Pinoy and I haven't heard about this

Our new President is friendly to China and critical/cold/indifferent to America so that article sounds like a load of bull

That ship will be a floating coffin since no ASW capabilities, Phalanx/Goalkeepers/equivalent and VLS cells. Basically a lightweight ship with your typical 76mm gun

If true, puzzled why Korea didn't win. Korea has far better shipbuilding capabilities than India

>>29934883
>nuclear proliferation

Lmao no

Also, China's claim could be perfectly legitimate if it has sovereignty.
Just because the Falklands are from Britain, does not mean Britain's claim is illegitimate.

It's honestly down to what your nation can claim and defend militarily.
>>
>>29940520
>It's honestly down to what your nation can claim and defend militarily.

And Nukes definitely help with that, UK would have never gotten involved in the Falkands if Argentina had Nukes.

Every country in AESAN is building Nuclear Reactors, which is the first step to any weapons program as you need the technology for procuring plutonium. The Nuclearization of Asia Pacific is inevitable, especially since there is no strong security apparatus in the region like NATO in Europe. And even then you had France and UK with nukes despite American guarantees. Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Japan will all develop and test Nukes when the time comes. Within the next 20 years is a fairly safe bet.

It is great for us as well, because it means China would be utterly boxed in even more than it is now.
>>
>>29940412
>buy A+ ASW helicopter

Umm yes it would have. It would have nuked Argentina to pieces.
>>
There were also rumors that Vietnam was considering a purchase of 6 of a similar type.

That would bring the total to 2+6+12 for IN. Not bad. Might be able to get a few more orders off on top of the 20.
>>
>>29940675
Nuclear proliferation in ASEAN wouldn't just be aimed at China mr. Armchair General.

ASEAN with nukes is probably weaker than without.
>>
>>29936616
If a photographer for the army or MUHRINES or any us company took a pic of their product in bad condition with literal shit in the pic their career would end faster than if they photocopied their dick and gave it to their bosses 15 year old daughter and wife.

How they thought this was acceptable is insane.

That was a rumor, and this "announced" deal is for 2. That's if Dut doesn't kill it.

If they had Nukes and ICBMs to deliver them to UK? A few nukes into London and the suburbs alone is half the population, and the only part of UK that matters.

Nope.

Nope. They won the Tender, the results are out and being reported in Philippines media. PN is getting at least 2 ASW Frigates from India.

This is a much more detailed analysis that covers why it was chosen, including the addition of VL-Mica missiles for SAM capabilities.

Vietnam is strongly rumored to be interested in buying 6 of the type as well. A $100 Million of line of credit was already given to them to help finance it.

Because the closer to the equator, the easier it is to put a thing into orbit.

There's a reason Kennedy space center is in Florida. Doing orbital launches from Great Britain is hard, while India is friendly, very close to the equator, and has well developed space infrastructure.
