T55
MiG21
are there any modern american military vehicles that live up to the reputation like the hilux or land rover?
>>29893641
I love M35s. You can run them on used motor oil if you want
>>29894504
No. Military tech tanked real hard once contracts and overseas manufacturing took over. Abrams are the same initial run that just get rebuilt. Hmmwv s find reasons to break now that they are overloaded with armor, all the old workhorses are worn out and shreaded instead of surplused. Lmtvs are hot shit, top heavy, slow, constantly in the repair bay. 5tons are mostly phased out, but they were an m35 replacement nobody asked for but automatic instead of manual. Mraps are shit. Bradlys are feature bloated shit.
The Oshkosh trucks are still pretty diesel, but are rarely surplused unless you're a police or fire department and really only come in fueler or tow truck flavor, the cargo and skid ones are few and far between
>>29893711
Depends what year it was manufactured

NOPE

There are ~4000 abrams maintained and serviced ready in huge depot.

Nigga Wat.
All soviet tanks are renown for how easily the turret can be detached from the hull. Not sure how hard it is to put it back on, though
>>29893600
UAZ is pretty horrible.

M35 trucks

Absolutely terrible vehicles.
Willy's Jeeps, definitely.

>>29900364
I know reliability is supposed to be shit, but what exactly is prone to failing? Also, how is the build quality on the exterior?
tbqh if I got a Niva it would be a novelty that I'd take out for a ride a few times each summer
Can somebody identify this thing for me?

Quick lads to the shitpost mobile

Newer engines are fine (Niva 1.7), older ones were complete shit, which is why I put a merc 2.0 liter diesel in it. The reliability is not an issue anymore. The worst thing about a Niva is lack of defined frame, and the fact that it's prone to rust (mine is 87' and although I beat the shit out of it since I used it to scout off-road locations for work, I had to change pretty much every piece of body panels except the roof).
On the other hand, Niva is pretty much unstoppable off-road. Short wheel base make it amazing for fucked up terrain of Europe, and the 4x4 system is bullet proof. It comes with locking diffs and low gear box. All in all make it out of proper metal/10.
>>29906377
neat, thanks for the info.
>prone to rust
looks like I won't be taking it out during the winter, between the moisture and the excessive salt they put on the roads where I live the Niva won't stand a chance. Most cars get corroded to shit within a few years of driving around here.
do you live in the US? If so, how did you get yours over here? There's a business that specializes in Eastern European cars that might be able to hook me up, their pricing is pretty good too ($5,000 ~ $15,000 for pristine examples).

M2 Browning started production in 1933 and it's still in use worldwide.

Twin Huey makes me sad. Have you heard them? The engines scream. It completely drowns out that distinctive rotor sound.

Giving you the benefit of doubt that you're not trolling:

I heard it's a real pain in the ass to get yourself a Niva or UAZ in the US. Why is that? Can't you like freight it through Canada?

It's already a Toyota, I think it would be more appropriate to call it the Mosin Nagant of the Truck world.
No matter how hard you beat it, no matter how rusted it gets, that fucker will keep on going, until there is nothing left.
>>29910594
I am Russian and one must be either completely uninformed or a complete idiot to think these have anything in common with regular production Kamaz trucks.
>>29910535
Soviet-era shit is relatively easy to import since it's exempt from emissions bullshit due to age. The hardest part is organizing transport, drop-off/pick-up, etc.

TL:DR The crashed it, drowned it, burned it, tapped it with a wrecking ball, dropped a caravan on it, drove it through a shack, and then blew up a building under it.
Still started. Still moved.
