The Indian deal was pretty much make or break for Dassault. The Rafale had at that point made no Rafale sales whatsoever except the French ones and they where understandably a bit desperate. When working on a crash test evaluation, every time they encountered a problem and the code crashed they simply excluded the parameters they had problems with from the test to make the program run without crashing. So in the end they had thrown away almost half of the data and still insisted they had made a functioning program because it didn't crash when they ran it. So they delivered something completely useless but refused to admit they had screwed up.
