I was thinking about getting these resoled, As you can see the sole is worm to hell and I was thinking of getting the sierra lug sole pattern for the resoling since there's no Panama soles you can buy and the sierra lug sole is very similar tot he first sole pattern these jungle boots had. My high school German teacher was the only person I've ever met who knew more than your average joe. If I remember correctly, had a small, but quality collection. Old, old guy in his late 70's who used to be in the West German bundeswehr, got most of his stuff while he served. He had pics up on his classroom wall, I might be able to call him and ask him for photos, it was really cool stuff.
Funny thing was that our school made all the male teachers wear khakis, but shirts were fair game. He would constantly wear cool stuff and occasionally wear a kick-ass (as I know now!) Austrian pea dot jacket or a sumpfmuster jacket he had, although I don't think he was in the BGS. He knows I was interested in the stuff, and we were good friends, so he told me once he passes I can have his military stuff, as his kids didn't care.
Kind of a shame, really. Knowing that your own children aren't interested in holding onto heirlooms from papa.
Also, it was the funniest thing to listen to him after he'd lived in the states for so long, as he had an amazing southern combined with german accent.

Shady dealers. There is a guy who lurks here he might be able to help you out better. I've ordered from him and it was smooth as could be.
Helmets and head gear.

I've been doing a ton of research into the science of camouflage lately since I got ahold of Tim O'Neill (inventor of Dual-Tex) last week and there's a lot more to testing effectiveness than standing in the woods and having someone take pictures of you. Let me know if you want some tips famiglia.
>>29902225
I've always wanted a WW1 helmet.
>>29902498
If you don't want anything fancy you can get on around $60-75.
>>29902406
He doesn't happen to have a closet full of dual-tex clothing he wants to get rid of, does he?
>>29902616
Nah I dont think so. Most of his work was on vehicle patterns but he worked on MARPAT with Natick Labs and advises for some companies now.
why does hunting/fudd camo look like this? what's wrong with the camo developed for military use?
>>29902901
pic
>>29902901
Some guys in SAA wear real tree. No idea why, they are in the fucking desert.
>>29902901
>>29902920
Can't tell if bait, because we get this a lot.
Hunting camo is designed to be used in a stationary position. It also is very dependent on a specific environment for it to be effective.
Military patterns are designed to be effective both moving and stationary, and to be effective in a range of environments.
>>29903016
>>29902901
I typed this almost exactly before I realized you posted it. Also, military camouflage is designed to confuse the detection and recognition processes of human vision, which can differ from those of mammals. Oh and they often integrate camouflage techniques beyond the visual spectrum to combat modern detection methods.
>>29902406
I figure I'll need to crouch in the bushes bast the first row for starters.
>>29903119
Do video movement tests. I intend to do some to. Also try movement at different ranges and speeds

Just trousers as of now, besides a cap and winter jacket. Still need winter trousers and a summer shirt.

For that I could redo the "tests" I did in the woods by my parents place. Pic related
>>29903372
I think you overestimate the photography equipment that I have or can afford. Though I could always borrow one of my parents' many Nikon cameras that simply collect dust.
To be honest, I mostly took these to see how the patterns looked in comparison to the wooded areas in SE PA during the spring.
I think I could easily skip on the desert and winter patterns this time around.

I would mention that I've never seen an issue one and all the Gulf vets I've talked to haven't either, but knowing you you probably have the one experimental one that was ever made or know who has it.

Is it issue? The coloration looks off to be a Marine shirt unless I'm just colorblind.
I wasn't the only one who noticed this, right?

Out of the main Gorka brands, which one is the lightest/thinnest. I would like to be able to wear the trousers during summertime as well.

I'm honestly supprised it hasn't been taken down yet. I don't think it's a honeypot or anything, as he sells normal stuff, probably just ignorant about US firearm laws.
>$100 m48 receiver > Having a dog and 10 more years living as a free American

I've seen at least 2 M1 garand receivers sold as "paperweights".

Is old duck hunter camo worth anything?
>>29907054
Depends.
While this thread's active, does anyone know of any good surplus stores in mid-TN, I know there's one in nashville, but I would like to know of a few places for variety's sake.
what camo would you wear in this environment?
Camo autists rejoice! FDF stops their M05 copyright 26th of September. This means that after that date it is possible to sell stuff with M05 here in funland.
News don't end here, Varusteleka got smart and had already bought the IR protected cloth and their suits will be made in same place as the real suits.
>>29909097
>M05 I can just wear around for whatever
The future is here
Estonianon, does that mean M05 trench caps?

>>29906175
What am I missing here? What is illegal about it?
>>29910377
Nix that, just realized it's a M48 reciever. Lmao that's sketchy as fuck.
I got me some of that fake M05 today.
>>29910469
Lux?
>>29910636
Yeah. I got an offer to buy the desert version too but the prices were unreasonable - $450 just for a shirt.
>>29910658
>$450 just for a shirt.
Holy fuck.
I got an opportunity to buy an 1953 Izhevsk Russian SKS (one of two years they were made, the other being '54). It's got a small Century import mark on the barrel and some very slight varnish wear on the gas tube cover. The rifle is blued with all matching numbers.
$550, yay or nay?
>>29910853
Yay, try and haggle a bit but that is a decent price
>>29910884
I already haggled him down from $700. He didn't think it had a single import mark on it, and said the wood was perfectly pristine. He's had it in a safe since around '92, according to him. He's a work buddy of mine and generally is pretty honest.
I'm getting a few of these laser printed anyone want some? I can get them in most american camos. Send me an email [email protected]
>>29911098
That's not the correct translation though. Oberst means colonel. Unless that was your intention?
>>29911143
I just took the original image and redid the colors and stuff. That's not the final one but that needs to be changed with the littering too.
Trench, spookgook, check your emails.
Took a collection photo yesterday, this is about 1/2 to 2/3rds of all my jackets, not including pants or other gear like helmets etc.
The cheese flavour CalorieMate doesn't taste good.

>>29911745
>>29911622

>>29911622
I'm pretty sure the MARPAT has or has had some sort of copyright.
