Today I noticed my retaining plate on the back of my AR15 was loose, so I sat down and went to tighten it.
While doing so a little fucking spring came flying out of the gun and landed somewhere in my bedroom (It has been two hours on my hands and knees with a flashlight and I can't find it)
After consulting my manual this is called a "Takedown Pin Detent Spring" or something- My question is: Is it important? Will the gun fail without it? Will I be okay just ordering a new one or should I find this one right now?

Just buy a new one for like $6 if you can't find it. Your gun is still usable, the rear take-down pin will just want to fall out.
>>
OP here
Update: I found it
How the fuck do I get it back in SAFELY? If I lose this thing again I'm probably going to kms
>>
>>29850604

You can order a new one and yes the spring is rather important. I'd buy several

You're in luck because that's probably the easiest spring to place in the whole AR. Look it up on YouTube. It'll be a lot easier than trying to explain it. Next time take this question to the qtddtott

Yeah, this is my first AR. I just turned 18 last year and picked it up used. I didn't know much about guns at the time because my only other guns is a Savage .22 B Series I got for Christmas when I was 12, and a Nugget I got a year or so later.
I'm trying to decide on starting a build for a better AR or wasting my money on a slavaboo AK

I bought a spare parts set off of Amazon. Gave me 3 spares of shit that goes missing all the time. I easily put mine back in but I had to take off the upper first. Its ez pz OP. You got this.

Look on youtube "build ar lower".

now learn how your fucking weapon works you moron.
>>
>>29850726
If I can't pull the rear takedown pin all the way out of the weapon, that means the detent is still in, correct? I'm hoping that didn't come flying out too
>>
>>29850604

Next time stake your shit.
>>
>>29850853
Yeah if the detent was gone the rear takedown pin would pretty much fall out
