If the ban on AP pistol ammo was lifted tomorrow, the fn5.7 would be inferior to any normal pistol cartridge with a tungsten penetrator at anti soft armor use. As it sits, the 5.7 can't go through armor and is dollar a shot .22wmr as a defensive round.

Stay mad the pdw concept never panned out in a world where SBRs exist.

AP 9mm rounds have been around for decades, and while they penetrate armor, The perform terribly when going into a body.
Which is the whole reason why NATO requested a replacement caliber and FN decided to create the 5.7

And I don't seem to recall NATO adopting 5.7. In fact, I specifically remember damn near every country that tried it out, dropping it for 5.56 SBRs because everybody is waiting for the US to finish it's LSAT project and giggle as the world eats up poly case ammo that absorbs heat better, at 2/3rds the size of regular 556, which ironically puts it at the same size of 5.7, which totally defeats the purpose of adopting a special snowflake round that sucks shit even when not using AP rounds.
