Good Afternoon /k/ommrades

When open carrying a handgun without a safety, does /k/ prefer carrying with a round in the chamber, or without?

Pic related.
>>
>>29836518

you should absolutely carry with one in the chamber

>open carry

If you're not in the Israeli military, you're a fucking faggot. I'm going to assume you're the latter since you chose an XD as your picture.

Faggot.
>>
Fuck no. Walking nd waiting to happen.

You have got to be kidding.

Make sure the gun is drop safe. Then carry with one in the chamber.

For single action: flick the safety on, yes

OP here, thanks for the input.

>Open carry

First mistake. You already gave up any advantage you had by advertising your gun.

>empty chamber

It's like you just want to be robbed or shot.

>gripzone 9mm

Ah okay you're retarded.
>>
>>29836623

oh no, its retarded.
>>
>>29836651
>gripzone fuddyfive*

My apologies I didn't actually open the picture. Honestly expected it to be 40.
>>
>>29836660
No worries, I'd do the same if it was a 9mm.
>>
Wait, people carry without a chambered round?
>>
>>29836716

yep.

>muh ND risk

>muh belief that I'll be able draw, rack and fire in a high stress situation

>muh disregard for the fact that self defense situations are measured in seconds

Some of it, in these threads at least, is trolling but I can not fucking beleive their are actually people who carry unloaded guns
>>
Always carry with a loaded chamber. My current carry gun is XDs and its stupid safe with all its multiple safeties. Carrying unloaded is asking for trouble
>>
>>29836780
Carrying without a chambered round I meant, not 'unloaded'

And it's always people that own guns with redundant safeties. Really a strong lack of self confidence in themselves and their equipment.

Never carry with a round in the chamber. Too scared and think I'll have enough time to slide n rack a bullet. Might be a pussy but I believe I'll most likely end up using my CC as a 3rd party like to store armed robbery or something. Rarely is it someone sneaking up behind you and like slitting your throat or something you wouldn't be able to manage getting your gun drawn.
Meh.

If I'm carrying a gun, I believe it should be ready to go. CC or OC doesn't matter, round in the chamber. If I ever decided to open carry, I would want a holster with some kind of active retention though.
>>
>>29836862
Oh, well he's a faggot then.
Ain't no need for that.
>>
Carry loaded always. Your trigger finger and good sense is always more safe than a safety.

Try to carry this chambered, I triple-dare you.

>Yes, we did have many cases of UD with it by people who CC'd them and didn't knew much about the gum, cause gun noobs / poorly trained security guards.
>>
Why would I carry a gun with no round it in? thats fucking stupid.
>>
>>29837167
I used to carry one with the hammer down.

Once you drop it you you'll want a more modern gun....
>>
>>29836651
>>29836660
Not even a mod 2. Can we at least keep insults consistent
>>
If I'm just tossing it in my bag or truck, or just going to work, I'll usually keep the pipes clean.

If I'm going out and about or into nigger country, round goes in.

>but that's bad! You won't know if it's loaded or not under stress!
I'm hyper conscious of it. Maybe it'll bite me in the ass some day, maybe not. If one second to slap my meatpaws over the slide is all it takes to get me killed I was probably fucked anyway.
>>
>>29836518
depends on gun, method of carry, and location where gun will be carried. the environment might dictate how you carry.
>>
Stop overthinking it, you'll never use your firearm and if you do, it takes half a second to chamber it and flick the safety off if youre extra cautious.

Dont listen to wannabe oper8tor wannabe faggots on here who oc with a round chambered safety off cause "IM READY TO GO BRO"
>>
>>29836518
I carry IWB Glock 43 or 19 and one in the chamber. I only unload the gun to finger fuck it or clean it otherwise it remains ready to play.
>>
>>29838139
isn't there a webm/gif where a guy is at the counter bout to check out of a gas station convenience store, 2 dindus come in armed and try to rob everyone, he pulls out his cc gun and you can visibly see him rack the slide and immediately take out the most immediate threat and the other dindu bolts?

he was cool as a cucumber, someone has to have this gif
>>
Condition 3 because i like being cautious
>>
Depends on the gun. If you're open carrying in the first place, I would expect that you'd want to be ready to party.

Also, I would pick a gun that was drop safe, and that I could reasonably expect to go through most car crashes without an ND if I were carrying it with no safety.
>>
>>29836518

Round in chamber, you may barely have opportunity to draw, even if not, when you experience an adrenaline drop, (such as when you're accosted by melanin enriched individuals) you tend to lose some fine motor skils.

pull, point, shoot.

>>
If there isn't one in the chamber then it might as well be fucking unloaded, it's about as useful.

who the fuck doesnt carry +1 chambered?
>>
>>29836518
my school doesnt allow one in the chamber idk how they will enforce that
>>
I use a carry clip for both my fullsize G22 and for my keltec P32 summer carry.

For my purposes, with the trigger guard exposed, I carry without one in the chamber, but when I practice my draw and fire, I always practice loading a round in the chamber.

There is advantages and disadvantages to either method.

Advantage is less thinking, more pointing and shooting when you need it which is great because when the adrenaline is flowing, your coordination goes out the window.

Disadvantage is increased risk of accidental discharge but the most important is is for some reason a bad person gets a hold of your weapon they can easily shoot you in the face with it because it is chambered and ready to go.

I think in many defensive situations for civilians, you should hopefully have good enough situational awareness ( at least you should if you carry ) to be able to identify a threat and have time to draw and chamber a round.

Google Israeli draw method.
>>
>>29836518
It depends on the gun.
Any gun that should be carried without a round in the chamber is a very shitty gun to choose for carry, though.
>>
>>29836647

is... is this a fucking cheese gun?
>>
>>29836518
If you open carry

Retention holster and/or manual safety are key

1911 would be optimal for retention-less, as niggers don't into knowing where the safety is
>>
Why the fuck would you carry without a round in the chamber
That's completely fucked
>>
>>29836518

Carry a round in a chamber. If you're worried about ND and shit like that, than you don't believe in yourself and your gear, that means you should not carry in the first place.
>>
>>29837167
This was gonna be first handgun for cc and truck gun, thank god I held back for a glock 30s
>>
Round in the chamber. Always.

Just one extra step can get you killed.
>>
>>29836622
>Make sure the gun is drop safe.

You're an idiot.
>>
>>29836651
Except for you know. The advantage of having a gun. Unless the criminal wants to get in a gun fight, seeing a gun will change his mind about what he was about to do.

Protip most criminals do not want to get into a shoot out and statistically speaking if you find yourself being shot at it would have happened with CC or OC.

I bet you own more compacts than full sizes.

It's okay. Check the drive way and doors again. Your safe and sheltered. No harm will ever come to you.
>>
>>29836518

Carrying a gun with a round in the chamber is just asking for an ND.
>>
>>29836727

If you're not disciplined enough to draw, rack, and fire in a high stress situation, then you need more training.
>>
>>29843954

Maybe you could get a holster, or a trigger guard cover. Lose the .40 while you're at it.
>>
>>29838139
it takes half a second for someone to ram a blade between your ribs, do you really want to give that half a second to them?
>>
>>29836716
>Wait, people carry without a chambered round?

Yes, there are fucking retards in this world that are fucking terrified that a weapon with multiple redundant mechanical safeties and in good repair will suddenly and automagically fucking discharge and shoot them.

People are this stupid. It's a thing.
