I made the IFAK a while ago and didn't want to move everything. Plus the only pouch big enough for all the stuff is the one in the back and thats not where you'd want your first aid stuff.

Where to get 8x10 plate carrier other than BCS?

No condor.
>>
>>29834686

Why do you want 8x10?
>>
>>29834944
I'm a small dude (5'10" around 150lbs). I wore ESAPI XS while in the army.

I need something bigger than 8x10, but 10x12 is too big and really messes with my movement. I can't afford any of the in-between options I've found. Really I need something like 9x11.

Would bullet proof me not have the right size for you?

As for the dude who said don't blame equipment, I'm not spending money on equipment I don't like

The glock 19 does not fit me. The sights are bad. If you line up the blade with the notches on rear, the front dot sits too low and is obscured and the gun shoots low. The grip is too short. The trigger is nothing to write home about.

And don't worry about being a poor college student. You are a based STEM major. Once you graduate and get a job you'll be able to afford all the funs and gear you want. That's what happened to me. Would never have this setup if I didn't have my current job.

In mine, I put batteries, NODs, gloves, MRE/food, spare socks/briefs, beanie or other appropriate weather gear, phone/wallet/keys/etc.

I'd also say to put your IFAK to your right rear side between your buttpack and your magazines and your smaller utility pouches up front where your IFAK currently is. Since you have a battle belt you can optimize laying in prone very well, so I would take as much advantage of that as you can by keeping lower profile pouches up front and bigger ones in the back.

Doing a quick zero check of the visible laser against my EOTech after setting the IR one.

>>29840508
This is Zenit's other laser the PERST-3, and it is amazing. It has a 20mW IR laser which is only 5mW shy of full power PEQ-15. It also has a 500mW illuminator that can be manually focused to a width of what seems like a couple of yards width at a mile away or so, which is stupid powerful, the widest adjustment is a little less wide than a PEQ-15's though. It's a little heavier than a PEQ-15 too.

The PERST-4 is more like their version of a dbal that has dual slaved lasers and has 4mw max IR with no illuminator. The PERST-4 is the perfect budget IR laser.

I bought a tru-spec softshell and is is surprisingly good for the price. Pockets are mesh backed so they double as vents. The small of the back "hunter's pocket" is nice to throw light gloves and a beanie in and keep them available but out of the way. The zippers are mostly covered with flaps and the front has an internal flap to keep a surprising amount of wind out. It is not windproof but gusts aren't bad. The front pockets and side zips are double zippers, so they can be opened either way, which makes accessing the front pockets while wearing a PC possible. The material beads water, isn't swishy, and holds up to brush well. I threw a zippered fleece hoodie with a fake lambs wool inside under it and it did me well in the last Midwestern winter. It would look like a motorcycle jacket to someone who isn't familiar with motorcycle jackets or tactical gear, if it weren't for the Velcro on the shoulders screaming tactical timmy. The Military Arms Channel guy has one and wears it often, if that counts as an endorsement.

Overall it is a nice cheap tactical softshell that I can safely recommend because it has done well for the role that type of jacket fits.

Rothco makes a softshell that people seem to like but I didn't want forearm pockets.

Arc'teryx or TAD options are worlds better, but much more expensive.

Sure thing.
The vest is based on the SADF battle jacket

The map pouch under the right GP pouch keeps ripping open when tightening the vest's front buckles.

To make it compatible with the PLCE side panels they had to widen the back it's not a problem with the big guys or if you're wearing armor, but I can't tighten it down as much as I would like.

Other than these things it's alright I wouldn't recommend it though.

What kind of gun are you running?
What are you looking to do?
Do you need a pack?
Would you be willing to change all your gear completely to accommodate an LBE?

What I liked.
SPOSN Smersh - AKs -ARs
Chicoms - type 63 for battle rifles - type 56 or ARs
PLCE - Battle rifles - ARs

Thanks for the input. I have an AR and a .45. I have a large ruck style pack but I'm sure it wouldn't work with that rig. I'm a total novice with gear, and would like an "all-in-one" setup, if I could find a carrier that I can attach a pack, camelback, and other gear to I think that would be ideal. I'm a budget buyer for sure, but I value good quality and realize that it may cost more. This would be for SHTF (and that i think its neat) and honestly I don't live near anywhere remote enough to train with this stuff on and not freak people out, though I plan to change that soon. Not a priority at the moment but I really want to know where to start. Thanks again!

Again, the trigger is standard. It's a good combat trigger. It's just heavy enough, but not to gritty and if you need to get precise, the reset is nice and short. I understand why people like them and compare all other service pistol trigger to them.

The size of glocks in all their categories is nice, especially the longer barrels than typical for their frame size. The glock slide might be one of the sexiest things I've ever seen, for just how clean and simple it is.

But I won't buy one after shooting a g19 extensively

Literally did a video on why you shouldn't buy it. Not linking it because shilling is bad, but.

>pay $80 for a mediocre new COD and a game from 9 years ago
>game from 9 years ago will have half of the maps, (original had 16+4 dlc maps) and there's a possibility if the sales for infinite warfare dlc are bad, they'll release the last 10 maps, made 9 years ago as dlc.

Don't be chumps. Cod4 runs on any PC, being 9 years old, and the community still is very much alive.

Buy COD 4 on PC, save a shit ton of money, and enjoy dedicated servers with custom player counts and gamemodes

Having birds is like having a toddler you can slow pitch without consequence.

I love the little fuckers but they are best when they are snuggling up to your neck and sleeping when you are laying on the couch. I wish I got him as a hatchling so he might speak more. I got mine at 4 months when I worked at a pet store. He immediately bonded to me and would hang out in my shirt for my entire shift. He bit everyone else. Eventually brought him home and got him a girlfriend(who got aggressive after puberty but will hang out with him on me.).

He isn't a big talker but he will say "Hi" when he wants attention, "mo'nee"(morning) to uncover the cage in the morning, and the aforementioned explicative call for silence. He also says "stop it". Otherwise I have had to learn his cues for his needs.

He is potty trained so he doesn't poop on me unless he is too far from his cage and doesn't want to fly back and can't see a paper towel. I eventually just made a few perches out of jute and PVC for him to sit on and poop under safely and put them about to avoid looking like I got pooly cleaned off cum on my clothes.

15 years left and I hope to god he stops eating TV remotes soon or I'm making a headdress in 5.

Mine doesn't talk even though his mom did, so I've had to figure out parrot language. in that regard he talks a lot.
they tend to make their statement, then finish their sentence with the name of whoever they're addressing. his name for me is a distinct double-cheep.
he has learned how to bird speak in different voices and to different species too, it's pretty fascinating.

I have a heavy bag in my garage, so whenever I start getting aggressive with it and punching he gets anxious because he thinks it's attacking me, and eventually he'll begin flying around and start biting the thing. funny as fuck to watch. overall not a good battle buddy but a pretty good security alarm, and otherwise he seems to like watching me exercise, fondle guns and gear or practice dry fire or reloads or whatever else I'm doing.

he's not potty trained but I do have "safe" perches in most of the house. I leave remotes and game controllers face down on habit now.

hey there, gearfags!
I have been looking into purchasing a plate carrier and I have a few doubts, mainly raised by people telling me that my choices were inadequate, so I have a few questions that I would love if you could help me answer.

5.11 TacTec PC, is it any good, is it bad, why, what is better at a similar price range?
Are LVIII/III+ standalone plates sufficient for most threats? Is it worth it to shell out all the money for a set of IIIA inserts and non-standalone plates? Is having side protection all that important? This meaning, do I need side plates or at least IIIA inserts to protect my sides?
How paramount is neck protection à-la flak vest?

Basically, I am asking if a standard front/back plate carrier with standalone plates is sufficient for most uses since my budget is limited by my promising career as a student and IIIA inserts are both more weight and more money.

Thanks in advance, guys

Look at this anon at my meet. He has a tac tec. That pad on the back makes the back plate sit too damn low

I think tactical tailor is having a sale, banshees are always good, and tactical assault gear might still have some shit on sale.

I would just buy some lvl iv standalones. Lvl iv is the standard for protection level these days. Also, lvl III with lvl III inserts won't save you money or weight.

Most people don't do side plates. Its more weight bulk and expense.

Don't worry about neck protectors.

Finally, seeing as your student, you might want to hold off on this sort of stuff. You're looking at $500 here. That's rent, that's that's another gun.
>>
>>29845809
ok, so my worries about the TacTec and its back plate being out of place were founded.

LvIV standalone was one of my only options, so it's good

and to be honest I wouldn't worry about any of this stuff, if I wasn't concerned about actually needing it in the next few months to years (Europe)

Thoughts on the following setup for a scalable gear queer setup for range use through and day hiking.

Belt:
>Handgun
>2 handgun mags in pouches
>Med pouch
>Dump pouch
>Multitool
>1-2 rifle mags
>Earpro (in ear plugs)

Chest rig:
>3-6 rifle mags
>Pouch with cleaning kit, lube, and stripper clip guide
>Pouch with compass, map, pen, sharpie, notebook
>Pouch with ready TQ and chest seals
>Pouch with headlamp or flashlight

>3 liters water
>600-1000kcal durable food items
>Battery backups for flashlights
>Duct tape
>Electrical tape
>550 cord pack
>2 pair socks in stuffsack

Move cleaning kit, lube, and stripper guide to pack. Put second TQ on belt. Add combat gauze(6" Izzy) to chest kit and depending on kit size a roll of 2" gauze and 2" medical tape. Add a flat roll of duct tape to pouch where cleaning kit was. Add battery set for flashlight in same pouch as flashlight. Add good sturdy fixed knife with a 3" blade minimum(5" ideal) blade on belt or chest rig, preferably belt.
>>
>>29839031

IIRC, the Estonian LBE is modeled after the British Pattern 58, so you could get one of those.
>>
>>29847037
I want the lube on my person though, so that I don't have to have the daypack to oil the rifle.

You think gauze + tape is more useful than having a chest seal? I should be clear, the IFAK on the belt already has a TQ, I wanted one in both the belt and chest to have more.

I've been playing around with adding a fixed bald knife, either Seal Pup or AK bayonet to things. The belt is meant to be light and easy though, and the chest rig has no good spot. I've been thinking the daypack, since if I'm innawoods, I've got the pack.
>>
>>29842809
Are you a veteran? I just figured you were a upper middle class mall ninja
>>
>>29845924
1 rifle mag on belt, 6 on body. It's chest rig no armor, so double mags are kosher.. Ear pro in pocket.

Lose the cleaning pouch, put headlamp in pack, flashlight fits in pistol mag pouch
>>29847037
Fuck the knife on belt crap, a big fixed can go in/on pack, and a folder in pocket
Keep the batteries in pack

>>29847103
You shouldnt need to field lube the rifle. My rifle goes further than 300 rounds on a lubing and that's more than my kit load
>>
>>29847103
If you need the oil at the ready, you need different oil that lasts longer. Few problems on a broken in rifle can be solved with more oil. So you should only add oil as maintenance when there is time to go into your pack. You don't change your socks in a firefight, do you?

Chest seal is great and stays. The gauze roll and cloth medical tape has multiple uses from a bandage for a minor bleed or for finger fucking the gauze into a wound that can't be bandaged otherwise or to supplement a combat dressing and/or TQ. The tape can be used to help secure a chest seal that doesn't seal or to make more chest seals out of the wrapper to the actual chest seals or from the ziplock your mommy put your Cheerios in.

Knife placement options depends on your gear. Some people put them inverted on weak side of chest rig with tape. Depending on the sheath, some put them on their pants belt under their pistol belt if the sheath has a drop to it. You can even mount them behind pouches with paracord. Be creative. A folding knife and certainly a multi tool knife cant always do the job. I put my fuck off knife on a tek-lok horizontally at the 1:30 on my belt so either hand can get at it and it stays out of the way. My utility knife goes in the hidden pocket of my chest rig(HSGI AO) or I put it in the 'roo pocket.

Targets too big. A man size target is 18 inches across. You should be able to engage with any rifle a target that big at 300. Make it a 8 inch requirement at 100
(I know 18/3 is 6)

>>29848443
Pistol should be its own qual, and its own table.

Fuck outdoor conditions, too much data you can't determine the effect of, and group sizing shouldn't be able to be accounted for, as youre assumingly firing your entire load at once.

Plus, how small a group on target matter significantly less than hitting the target quickly and consistently. That's why there's a time limit

If you go by yourself that can be a bit tricky. I go innadesert with at least one other person in case the worst happens. In that first outdoor pic we were just getting set up and getting ready to go hike out somewhere more secluded to go shoot. Although it's always fun seeing non gear queers getting weirded out as your kitting up.

I'm going camping really close to my family cabin so I'm not really in danger. A bunch of people know I'm going too so if something bad happens people will know when I'm not back.

I'll probably just have to use my camera's timer to get a good picture.

depends on your area, Manitoba often is over 30 degrees and 80% humidity because of the lakes. I cant stand it.

Alberta where I am still gets 30+ and sometimes into the 40's but with low humidity.

Thinking about getting one of these PIG Brig chest rigs to compliment my ALICE rig that already has two 3-cell pouches on it and for just lightweight shit.
Taking size into account what number of mags would be more practical for concealment and whatnot? 3 or 4? I'm a size 38 chest 5'8" dude.

Or are the complete open-top ones shit and I should just make my own rig?

I've used it with AR mags before, and it works fine. Just get some rolled up socks to act as spacers at the bottom, and you now have a universal magazine pouch that takes AK-74, AKM, 7.62NATO mags, AR-15 mags.

I dig it. I would ditch the shirt, duct tape, and 1 pair of socks. Shit can the rifle mags on the belt and put them in your day pack along with the headlamp. I would go 1+1 on pistol to be honest. Multitool can go in your pocket. As for your cleaning kit: blessed is the man with a complete cleaning kit. Mine goes on my rig. Should you need to (re)lube a gun within a combat load? Fuck no. But a rifle can get dirty just hanging on your shoulder. For your medical stuff I would recommend 1 blowout kit and 1 medkit that is more heavily involved. TQ in each or at least very visible on your person.

>>
>>29851879
You layout and loading depends on you and what you want to do. Is the belt supplementary to your PC or chest rig? Is it stand alone? Etc.

Classic is 1 or 2 rifle mags, 1 or 2 pistol mags, a dump pouch, a medical kit(IFAK or blowout), and a holster.

Go look at the arfcom battle/war belt thread and see like 100 examples of what and where. You will see people with a pistol, pistol magazines, and a dump or stand alone warbelt with everything on them.

i want to buy 1.5k worth of stuff, chest rig, pouches, shirts, pants etc....
i have found 5.11, is it good?
can someone suggest another brand?
>>
>>29854173

I fucking love 5.11 and would trust my life to it. But faggots on this board who don't know what the fuck they are talking about will throw shade.

That being said, get a non-5.11 plate carrier/chest rig. Stick to 5.11 for clothes, boots and the brokos belt.

For rig/plate carrier SKD Pig is a popular one, Perroz Designs and Ferro Concepts do nice work. LBT ( London Bridge Training ) is good. Old Eagle Industries gear is god tier ( Has since been bought out by BLACKHAWK!), First Spear is scooping up a fair portion of the market and rightfully so (Started by original/primary Eagle Industries guys after company sold out). Mayflower if you're bill gates rich.

Condor small tear away is passable but should be upgraded to something better. Baofeng is passable but should be upgraded. Condor water bladder is shit, get a source. The condor water pouch is passable but should be upgraded. Bright blue CVS shears? Really? That is 0 out of tacticool. Backwards flag patch is lame. Mismatched colors.

The PC and tacos are good but you can improve. The PC and tacos probably ate too much of your funds and compromises had to be made to meet short-term readiness. Make improvements as funds permit and report back for re-eval.

You pass, for now.

>>29853600
what background are you using for your pics?
>>
>>29854318
well i dont want to start a fight but my uncle built me a cheap ar-15 with his spare parts as a gift.
now i am really into guns and i bought last week a hk mr556 and im also plannig to buy mr762.

so with these new guns i though i also should buy some tactical gears. anyway here where i live (i am not american) we have this competitons which competitors have to run, jog even swim a field with various obstacles and at each checkpoint we get to shoot and range officers record the score. it is really fun and challenging. i want to attend this events with a lightweight pro gears.
>>
>>29854354
Sounds fun. Do you plan to wear soft armor/plates? How much stuff do you plan to carry on you? With that kind of budget you can get some real gucci shit that will retain its resale value.
>>
>>29854354

Get some Howard Leight electronic ear muffs and talk to the other top competitors about what they use or would recommend. In my experience with shooting sports everyone is running gear on their belts.

Go with quality athletic clothing and athletic shoes. Nike, underarmor, etc.
>>
>>29854348

White paper
>>
>>29854391
no armor/plate, just chest and tight rigs. i am kinda rich so budget is not problem but i think 1.5k $ is reasonable. 10kg of equipment (including the rifle and its ammo)
>>
>>29854396
well most of the score you get is based on your performance on shooting. in my country you are allowed to have magazine with 20 bullet at max. in this particular competition recommends the attendees bring at least 120 bullets which mean 6 mag! u can not mount all of them on ur belt :D plus a IFAK and at least 2 liter water is mandatory.

most people here use cheap domestic produced stuff, and if u lucky u may get ur hands on military surplus. but i want to buy from the usa.
>>
>>29854462

They shoot 120 rounds in a single stage?

I've never fired more than 40 rounds in a stage and that's two mags. Once the stage is done you toss your partials and empties in your bag and load up with full mags. 3-5 stages, each stage using between 20-40 rounds is what I'm used to. I can't imagine 1 stage events with a 120 round count.

IFAK and water need to be on your person? You can definitely belt mount it and rock a camelbak.
>>
>>29854504
there are 6-8 checkpoints (stages) at each one u have to shoot at different targets. i think u did not understand how this competions are.they are something like this:at first u run for 2km and reach first checkpoint. at the checkpoint you have to shoot at 5 targets in 100 meters. then u run to next check point and so on. it is up to u to bring all the stuff u need and noone will help u unless it's emergency which u will be disqulified from the match
>>
>>29854548

Very interesting, again, I recommend you talk to competitors or other people who take part in the specific competition you're talking about and find out what they're using.

As far as clothing and footwear goes, athletic wear will be far more useful to you than tactical pants and jungle boots and the like
