Chest rig editon
Looking for a chest panel with an integrated/integratable hydration system like pic related that isn't from Fox Tactical. Can have mag pouches sewn in but I prefer a blank MOLLE panel.

I would not. I just EDC my Bodyguard 380 with an extra mag in my back pocket. I don't feel the need for anything extra like that.
>>
>>29813910
EDC, no.

I think people are missing the point of these. They would be great as additional bug-out kits, or if you want something lighter or more low-profile than a typical chest rig; not something you take everywhere like a fanny pack.

Slap a triple mag pouch on the outside, some field dressings or TQ on the inside, and you have an easy kit for if SHTF.

Considering the large amount of Leo and military personnel using the d3cr, that idea doesn't really pan out. You're going to look weird wearing almost any sort of gear at a public range. I don't like the dc3r, I think it's expensive, I think the pouch placement is bad, I think an hsgi ao micro rig would be better and cheaper. I might buy some pig bombers for my ao rig to replace my tacos.

>>
>>29815286
My Esee 6 has been amazing and hasn't had rust problems even when I've neglected it. My Izula II rusts like a motherfucker no matter how strict I am with maintenance. I emailed Esee about it asking if I could have gotten a bad batch of steel and they told me to fuck off there's no such thing. Kind of put a bad taste in my mouth regarding Esee but I still love my 6.

Talking radios which would be a better choice for a beginner, the Baofeng UV5R or UV 82? I was leaning towards the 5R but the 82 is only 3 bucks more and has a bit better reception and squelch. IDK if it as durable as the 5R which would be a consideration.
>>
>>29815286
>but it rusts super fast.

i've had one for years and never had this problem. i use it regularly to cut up barbecue and make pb&j when i'm and i take it with me backpacking and desert camping.

>>29815353
If you're looking at the crye field pants you may also want to consider the TAD force 10's which are now offered in multicam

oddly, living around the Gulf means a lot more humidity and heat than the rest of the US.
I went on a 3 night hike in SW Florida Everglades and used the knife sparingly. by the end of the trip the laser engraving was bright orange and every morning I found the blade to have an even coating of light rust. wiped off easily but I can't imagine it lasting very long under those conditions. Haven't brought it with me since and I've used a glock knife instead.

Setting up a poorfag carbine/gear setup when I get back in state.

Already have a nifty fighting shotgun setup.

Here is what I'm thinking, stop me accordingly:

>PSA AR-15
>Light tacked onto rail
>S&W SD9 (already have)

>SADF chest rig
>P-Mags from the AR I once had
>Buck lightweight skinning knife on rig
>Water bottle
>IFAK (already have)
>Tourniquets on straps (already have)
>sharpies, pens, write in the rain, compass, etc.
>handgun magazine

>extra tourniquet, mild injury stuff, extra handgun magazine, maps, protractor, powersnacks, mini-flashlight, lighters, and multi-tool in/on belt and pouch I already have.

Good?

For extra points, tiger stripe pants and a broken in long sleeve cotton work-shirt plus Bama hat.
>>
>>29815472

I'd never needed to oil a knife while on a trip before so I hadn't considered bringing any. In comparison, wiping a leatherman or swiss army knife with a clean shirt is enough. It's ridiculous.

So, what I would do, were I you, would be to get a belt. Duty belt, pistol belt, battle belt, whatever. A belt.

Load up the chest rig with rifle mags and your pen, notebook, and possibly a headlamp.

Then I'd stick the pistol, pistol ammo, IFAK, knife (I personally think fullsized knives are dead weight usually, but keep it if you like it), possibly 1-2 AR mags, multitool and your compass/GPS.

Take the powersnacks, lighters, and misc crap and stick it in a pack.

Now your kit is organized and it is scalable in a logical fashion. If you just want to fuck around and do lightweight plinking you just need your belt. If you want to do heavy weight gear queering belt + chestrig. If you want to hike innawoods and gearqueer belt + chest rig + pack.

I like ALICE; cheap, durable, simple, and breathable.
>>
>>29817132
I like it except for the fact it's hard to find holsters for it.
>>
>>29817161
A Blackhawk duty adaptor will easily fit into it.
>>
>>29817161
I had an M12 US Milsurp holster for it, it can fit a Beretta 92 or full size 1911. The leather USGI 1911 holster works for the 1911 as well, you can put it in the holes on the belt.
>>
>>29817006
Why is it $175, how many days is it?
>>
>>29817161
Almost any holster that can fit onto a 2 inch belt will fit.
>>
>>29817195
they are usually 40 hour events with blank fire and provided vehicles and shit. you need to just start looking into it and watching videos. You gotta pay $175 because they rent out MOUT facilities and give everyone bbs so that there is a limited supply and you have to have supply lines that can be cut by the enemy,.
>>
>>29817276
If you register early its 25 dollars less, so 50 dollars per day. But they're starting to do four day events, so its even more for your money. It seems like a lot but compared to how much I spend on altyn helmets it really isn't much
>>
>>29817276

I use one of these if I go deep innawoods. The hip belt on my pack precludes the use of a belt holster comfortably. This thing works like a charm with a little velcro orienting device inside for the gun. I actually really like it and it has been very useful.

Will post a picture tomorrow, but I've got a ton of coyote brown pouches and gear but my only way to carry them is an old dark green belt.

What color or pattern PC should I get?

I like the idea of ranger green but idk if coyote goes well with it. I mostly wear darker earth tone clothes with my gear and would like to avoid camo but willing to bend if it looks good. Expecially if someone makes a quality marpat carrier.

What's a good set-up cheat rig that's lightweight and won't break the bank? I saw the HSGI AO rig, three BmP singles and a blowout pouch would cost me about $170. Is that par for the course?

Yeah, $120-$205 is the price range for most good lightweight chest rigs.

If you want to go cheaper, look into getting a MAV and pouches from Grey Ghost Gear.

I reccomended that way because there is a logic to it. The pistol mounts best on a belt. You keep the pistol ammo the same place as the pistol.

Then, by also keeping 1-2 rifle mags and IFAK on the belt you have a little bit of everything you need in order to go shooting in one package.

This will help keep your chest rig nice and clean with the basics. Rifle ammo + small stuff in the grenade pouches. Actually a roll up cleaning kit wouldn't be a bad idea for one of those grenade pouches. Stick some medical in the chest rig for extra blood stopperupper.

Stuff like snacks and crap is just clutter and makes you end up doing the Macarena when looking for stuff on gear. Best to just stick it in a pack.

Water either in a bottle on your belt (maybe tossed in a dump pouch), or in a pack/camelback.

I know everybody has their own thing, but you came and asked so I'm giving what I think is the most sensible template.

I was looking at their options, but I'm not sure what would work well across 762 and 556 guns. I know that with the D3CR H I can at least use the mp2 inserts. I mean push come to shove I could always use a beez panel and Taco's but I never thought they indexed well with reinserting mags

I still recommend the Salomon Quest 4D GTX's
>pants. I want new pants. I've heard TAC, cyre, and Arc'teryx. How much of a step down is 5/11 from these brands? 5/11s that I've seen have always just looked like bdus/Acus with retarded pockets.
if you can get TAD pants used/on sale they're pretty good, I have the Force 10 AC's and they're quite comfy. wouldn't pay full price for them though. Crye pants are really nice with some of the better pocket placement/features for a tactical pant, downside is the internal knee pads kinda suck. Arcteryx are probably the most robust going off the old Talos pants, internal kneepad is best I've used, and the pockets were low profile but still useful.
>starting to look at pistols and holsters. Drop hip holsters look nice, are they just drop legs riding really damn high?
no theres "duty drop" mounts that put the pistol lower than where it would sit just on the belt, I use this mount on my otgholster, pic to follow.

I pretty much started the LOWA Zephyr meme, they're a good choice though Salomon and Asolo both get some decent recommendations on here. If you have an REI near you they should have all of these available for you to try.

I'm a big homo for Duluth Trading Ballroom Jeans and Fire Hose Work Pants. They offer heavier and lighter fabric weights for you to choose from depending on what kind of climate you're in. Stitching has always been top notch.

Not him but one medic pouch is probably a "blowout kit" with absolute essentials. The other an IFAK. If he were a medic, he would have a backpack of medical gear. What he has there is only for himself and maybe someone else if they don't have medical supplies or the supplies are compromised.

IFAK on the belt is so even with just the belt he is G2G. Blowout is supplemental/redundancy.

They're for work, not serious outdoor activity. Cotton twill is a shitty material used because it's cheap. The shortcomings in strength and tear resistance are made up for by making it thick and heavy as hell. It doesn't breathe well, your groin will be a swamp in hot weather. It's heavy, and thick, and doesn't pack well because of this. If you get it soaked, it will take on a ton of water weight and will stay wet for ages, even in optimal conditions for it to dry. In cold weather this can be a death sentence which is why "cotton kills" is commonly known in the hiking and backpacking community. They're good to work in without having to worry about tearing them up or getting them dirty and they'll last a good while. For serious outdoor applications they're inferior in every way to NYCO and polycotton.

Also, the primary selling feature of the ballroom jeans is a simple crotch gusset, something literally any BDU or hiking pant will come with standard.

Yep, I presumed he wanted a strong durable work pant not a hiking pant. As you said, if he wants to hike in something there are better options.

I choose ballroom jeans because they are durable jeans with a gusset, specifically because they are not cargo pants/bdu pants/etc. Wrangler/Riggs makes a cheaper alternative but I've had issues with Wrangler QC so I haven't bothered getting them and trying them.

Goretex is a meme dude. The patent has expired and now companies like Merrell are producing their own proprietary waterproofing systems which work just as well with less cost. You're paying for the name.
>>
>>29831811
Since his question was framed around suggestions of TAD, crye, arcteryx, and 5.11 I assumed he wanted a pair of pants more geared towards outdoor shit.

I mostly wear carhartts when I have to work outside, never tried Duluth. Carharrt's stitching is ass terrible but gets the job done.

Oh dude, I used to be the same way. The second you bail on Carhartt for Duluth Trading there's no going back. The return policy is unconditional. The only people I know who've had issues are people who buy the light weight work pants when they work in a field that would necessity heavy weight pants; specifically lumber.
