Why are snek guns so expensive? Why did Colt stop making them? I just want a quality wheelgun that looks pretty. Pic so related it makes my dick hard.
>>
>>29832297
Because Colt is retarded. And I love their guns
>>
Your second question answers your first question.
>>
Anything similar that isn't stupid expensive?
>>
>>29832297
>Why did Colt stop making them?

It was part of an agreement to avoid lawsuits under the Clinton administration. It was when anti-gun activists were funding and instigating everyone to sue American gun manufacturers in a desperate attempt to run them out of business, and they were successful in many ways. Companies like Colt, S&W and Ruger made deals to avoid being run out of business.

That whole clusterfuck is what led to a law being passed protecting gun makers from frivolous lawsuits. Antis like to complain that the gun industry gets protection no other industry has, but no other industry has ever been the target of a mass wave of politically-driven malicious civil litigation.
>>
>>29832418
Why would expensive revolvers be a specific target? I mean they kept making shit like the 1911 and the SAA...
>>
>>29832418
Two paragraphs to say nothing. Impressive. Guess that explains why they kept making SAAs, ARs, 1911, shit pistols pocket guns, started the z40 etc but dropped DA revolvers, including the cheaper and easier to produce Anaconda and king cobra....
>>
>>29832450
Colt was forced to discontinue all their cheap(er) guns. All they kept producing after the lawsuits were expensive custom one-off SAA revolvers and the expensive semicustom tacticool line of 1911s.

They stopped all DA revolvers, .380s, the cheaper 1911 series, and other lines. They also jacked up their prices.
>>
>>29832450
Would you believe me if I said Stopping Power
>>
>>29832482
They were sued into oblivion in 2000. Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act passed in 2005. That's when they were able to get their shit together again and make what they wanted.

Is 16 years ago ancient history here or something? How do you not remember this? Is all of /k/ teenagers or something?
>>
>>29832503
I'm 21. Only recently got into guns though. Why did they never restart production?
>>
>>29832297
they were expensive to make, and modern labor prices would push them beyond most people's budgets.

there aren't any craftsmen that could make them either - the best you would get is the mass produced 90's and python elites.
>>
>>29832482
> Guess that explains why they kept making SAAs, ARs, 1911, shit pistols pocket guns, started the z40 etc but dropped DA revolvers, including the cheaper and easier to produce Anaconda and king cobra....

You some kind of retard, anon? Everything you listed there, barring the Anaconda, was either discontinued before 2000 or discontinued in 2000 when they almost went under due to all the litigation. The Z40 and King Cobra were discontinued before they even had any legal troubles.

The Anaconda was still being put together on a case-by-case basis for custom orders until 2002 or 2003, but it was taken out of regular production.

>>29832536
Lack of demand. By the time 2005 rolled around few people wanted revolvers. Glocks were everywhere, the M&P had just come out, and pretty much everyone was hopping on the polymer pistol train.
>>
I just hope they make them again and I can actually get one.
>>
>>29832620
I too am hoping for that.
>>
>>29832721
What I fear more is they say that they will only make 10,000 and they are all preordered in the first 15 minutes. Forget the .22 scalpers this would drive me insane.
>>
>>29832620
They won't be as good.

60% more Hitler, per Hitler

While we're on the topic of pythons...

Does anyone have the screen cap of when some anon killed the home intruder with his python, only to have it seized as evidence and have case numbers and initials etched into it?
>>
>>29832393
S&W 586 basically a colt python but with a better trigger and you can actually have it worked on if god forbid something ever break

Pic related
>>
>>29834211
I would love for this to be a made-up story.
>>
>>29834230

Seconded. The 586 is gorgeous and shoots like a dream.
>>
>>29834211
Does that make it more valuable since it's proven to have tasted blood?

>>
>>29834230
Welp I know what I'm getting. That satisfies the exact same shit I like about pythons aesthetically and aesthetics are all wheelgats are good for anyway. Beautiful.
>>
>>29832297
>Why are snek guns so expensive?
Because they were inherently expensive to make.

>Why did Colt stop making them?
Because they were inherently expensive to make.

>>29832393
Colt Trooper is very similar but with a less fancy barrel, and a much sturdier lockwork.

>>29832418
Absolute twaddle, Colt stopped making them because of high costs.
The shit that went into making the barrels are some fucking alchemy, the sweet trigger comes at the cost of a delicate lockwork, and a lot of the people who worked on them are dead or retired.
>>
>>29833854
Depending on model and condition, a Python can go for near $3000, keep in mind that the Euro is stronger than the Dollar.
A Python Hunter in mint condition, with the original scope and box, is gonna carry a saucy pricetag.

A lot of it is because of Colt collectors being autistic.

>>29834211
True or not, this is a reason why you don't use a fancy gun for defense.

Also, you should be able to sue a police department, or take them to small claims court, when they do shit like this.
>>
I have an Anaconda and a S&W 629. The 629 is more accurate, smoother, better in every way except looks.
To be fair, a friend of mine has two Pythons which I'm mad jelly of.
>>
>Muh guns are investments!

Literally just poorfags justifying their obsession by thinking they'll be worth double in a few years. And yes, they are completely poorfag despite being able to buy 3k revolvers because they're mentally ill and dump money they don't have into gun at the expense of their family's future. You see the same thing with boomers buying classic cars.
>>
>>29837303
what the fuck are you talking about
>>
Can't be a python thread without City Hunter.
>>
>>29837303
>thinking they'll be worth double in a few years

Which has happened many many times
>>
>>29837303
>muh daddy didn't keep his collector car that cost him $3000 new so now I have to pay for college while Billy's dad down the street sold his collector car for $3mil

t. Sour Grapes
>>
>>29837811
Huh? I already graduated. No debt btw.
>>
>>29837811
Also if you knew remotely anything about the collector car market, virtually none of these guys had cars back in the day. Most don't even know anything about them. Only investment firms, museums, and a handful of richfags that could buy congressmen buy the Hemis/Boss9/Copo tier cars anyway.

It's all about spending their kid's inheritance before they keel over. Literally the entitlement generation.
>>
>>29837864
>These cars didnt trade hands 30 years ago for $20-40k
>the muscle car boom didnt happened 15 years ago

Today's cars are still unrealistically high, but the hype that Barrett Jackson put into this market killed it for the little guy. Today, they ARE owned by Museums, 1%rs, and Investment firms.

You would be surprised how long some of these guys have owned their now "blue chip" investment cars.

A very near parrallel to gun markets anon. Pop culture and politics being the driving force, instead of boomers.

The fuck is your point anyway, are you mad that someone is successful and spending their money on things they like?
>>
>>29837992
>OP: Why is X expensive
>Me: Explain the market
>Autist: What the fuck are you even talking about REEEEEEEE!
>>
>>29836182
>Colt stopped making them because of high costs

this

saying it's due to some clinton agreement is just stupid.
