lets stop overreacting about arsenal edition

old thread >>29809838

>>29816049
hey guys, ar fag here.
if i wanted an ak that was as cheap and reliable as a psa ar15, what should i get?
>>
>>29816055
WASR, though I imagine you'll find some way to fuck that up as you usually do.
>>
>>29816049
>reliable as a psa ar15
>ars reliable

LOL! Just get a WASR
>>
Is this only a problem with the 107s? What about the 104s? I'm looking for a 5.45 AK but I'm stuck between a DDI-74 and a SLR-104, and im starting to lean towards the DDI atm
>>
>>29816074

>>
>>29816055

WASR's are about $625 which is about as cheap as you can build a legit PSA for anyways.
>>
>>29816132

>>
>>29816165
cool it, hot head, you'll melt the paint off your ak.
>>
>>29816079

seems to be more an issue with the year of production, as the paint bubbling issue is relatively new. They must have switched to shittier paint.

That'd work if I was an Arsenal fanboy or even an AK fanboy. You're the shittier and poorer version of Squid. That'll never change no matter how much of other people's money you spend on an AR.

What's all this uproar about anyway? No news to anyone that arsenal has shitty finish.. But to be fair you are paying a premium price for an AK. But if flakey finish is the only potential problem I'll live with it I'm not going to whine. Here's my 107, been mag dumping almost every time I'm at the range, temp gun read 450 F and the finish is still smooth and tight.. Maybe I got lucky
>>
>>29816267
>That'd work if I was an Arsenal fanboy or even an AK fanboy.
cool, so i'm learning.
>>
>>29816291
Good. So maybe you will learn that if you dont want people to reference your trip, then take off the fucking trip. Maybe that way people would have answered your question and not spawned another discussion between tripfags.
>>
>>29816287
The uproar is in part due to how little it took for the paint to get thoroughly rekt. I think another user recreating Robski's test with his own rifle from the same batch had only three magdumps before it was slagging off.

What's really getting people's panties in a twist is that, after the paint was melted off, rust could be seen on the metal surface and apparently the parkerized finish was nowhere to be found. There's more to come Thursday in the next vid, so we'll see if things escalate.
>>
>>29816287

Arsenal finish being shitty is old news, but it bubbling off from 3 mag dumps is new, before if you mag dumped the only real issue is that you might melt the furniture, as one butthurt youtuber showed by bump firing through something like 7 mags as fast as possible.

Also, the AKOU pics show rust under the finish, which is pretty fucking unacceptable.
>>
>>29816305
you do realize i only came here to shitpost, right?
i would never own a ak, i may be stupid and poor, but i still have some self respect.

I thought what remained of that was blown away with your suppressor baffles.
>>
>>29816237

i'd say it's not so much the paint as the prep work. they are probably shitting out these rifles as fast as possible and quality slipped further.
>>
>>29816314
So exactly what is on the line here? Are we waiting to see if more paint will come off? Or is AKOU expecting some functionality issues?
>>
>>29816356
i paid the repairs in full so i got some back.

>Are we waiting to see if more paint will come off?
The paint's pretty much done, we're just waiting to see if some serious mechanical issues show up.
>>
>>29816411
i almost want to buy a shitty ak just to hit it with hammers and shitpost about malfunctions, almost.
>>
>>29816370
>>29816390
Imports of this rifle will stop because their demand is so high from militaries around the world. They are shitting out guns left and right because they got a lot of contracts from the Middle East. It looks like poor prepping and parkerization before the paint was applied. Cap my post but I guarantee he will have more issues with his rifle considering others in the same serial line have reported issues. Personally I have an SLR107FR and the most I've dumped consecutively has been 5 mags and the hand guards got really hot and began to smoke, I let it cool and took it down to see if the polymer melted but it looked normal.

So I'm looking to get a Galil in the future. What would be the most cost efficient way to get one? I don't really want to get all the tools to put together a parts kit (unless it is cheaper to get a parts kit and have a professional build it).
>>
>>29816411
I posted that. Giddy is cancer that spawned out of the circle jerk that is /arg/. The post times are probably close because he's probably F5ing to see if his shitposting gets a rise out of anyone. All his life is eating tendies from mommy and maxing out credit cards without any income on his AR.

It is true that the Sidefolder receivers that DDI showcased had offset crushed rivets and the rear trunnion was riveted too far back. you can clearly see it in the picture.
>>
>>29816604
not only is the trunnion riveted too far back it's riveted at an angle. you can see the offset angle from the bottom to the top, the push button is also solid instead of dimpled

Is there a ball park cost for galil parts kit so I don't get jewed?

>FEG AMD-65, $400
>C.N. Romarm S.A./Cugir Draco pistol including wrist brace, $450 out the door

>half-built Bulgarian parts kit, on loan from my brother until his Navy contract is up

How'd I do?

apex and numrich have galil parts kits under $400.

considering AK parts kits are in the $300 range I'd say thats a decent price tag.

hes talkin about Color-coded ID's that are assigned to each poster in each thread, so you can tell when someone is samefagging and shilling.

As for "Anonymoose"
4chinz logs your IP on every post, and the jap who owns this site sells it to a "marketing" (hinthintNSA) company to metadata your online profile.

>>29816916
>Serbshit
>angle brake cant even screw on all the way.
ffuck outta here.

>>29816660
give up on the galil train. Unless IMI finally gets their shit together and releases a commercial one, dont bother. You are better off with a SLR105 for the money. You already missed the train on real unissued milsurp IMI galil barrels for $60 a few months ago, and building from a parts kit is very tricky unless you got access to a full machine shop with a mill. Even then, do you want a 5.56 rifle that is not a 20" Masterrace that weighs over 8lbs unloaded? Literally better in every way to get a 5.56 AK such as the 105 or Beryl. Galils are literally collectors/status symbol rifles.

>>29816713
apex kits are fuckin trash, and numrich kits dont look that great due to the fact they are SAR kits so you have to locate another GB and piston, unless you gonna SBR or pistol it, in which case GFL trying to find a SAR barrel that isnt shot-out AND <$500.

Which one of you /k/unts are selling 40rd 7.62 bakes on AKfiles? I want what your ad states: "I have nine 40-round RPK bakelites in new condition. I am asking for $120 shipped."
I got $120 for all 9 of them, shipped.
>>
>>29816049
So what is the paint bubbling supposed to prove? That its shitty paint? Who the fuck cares about the finish.

That's not the reason I'm sending my arsenal in for repairs. Canted front sights and headspacing problems is why i'm sending in my arsenal. (probably going to end up selling it, if there is a headspace issue)
>>
>>29817045
120 each
>>
>>29817045
I don't know if this is a troll but that's for EACH, pal.
>>
>>29817065
>(probably going to end up selling it, if there is a headspace issue)
just FYI, if it doesnt seem to close on a GO gauge, that doesnt mean its not headspaced correctly.

No one stateside who sells headspace gauges has gotten their hands on an actual russian headspace round. It calls for 30lbs of forward pressure for it to actually close on a GO gauge, and 40 lbs for it to not close on a NO GO gauge. Just cause it doesnt seem to close on a GO gauge when you pussyfoot it gently and you have less than 5k rounds through it, doesnt mean the headspace is bad.

As for canted sights, seems like a legit reason. Just keep in mind they fix it and stick in bigger pins, thereby cutting more of your barrel material between outside and inside bore away.
>>
>>29817066
no nigger, your ad says you have 9 for sale, and youre asking $120 shipped.

Would a DDI-74 be a bad buy for a 5.45 AK at only $750? I was *considering* an SLR-104 but I don't really care for the side folding stock, and now the finish is in question. Thoughts? I am not an AK purist, just need solid finish and reliable function.

>>
>>29817474
how much would it cost a gunsmith to put a parts kit together? Would it be similar enough to getting a fully built one off of GB that it's not even worth it?

>>29817516
I'm sure they have replacements if I don't like the feel of it. Maybe I can find one somewhere with the wood handguard so I can test the feel of it.
>>
>>29817545
any respectable gunsmith, even for AK's will charge roughly $500+ to put together any gun. Seeing as the galil is more than welding in a trunnion like a HK91, Id prolly say closer to $1k
>>
>>29817545
I didn't look into the cost for a gunsmith. I know the century galils are around $1000 but I'm sure youve heard of their spotty quality every so often. Also they used some lesser quality receivers and had some recalls. If you do build your own stay away from "Ohio rapid fire" and "assault weapons of Ohio" they're way out of spec and need tons of extra work.
>>
>>29816140
I put a $679 WASR on layaway. Did I fuck up or is that not too bad for an LGS?

Thanks for the heads-up. To be honest I have never even heard of the headspacing issue until a few threads ago when someone mentioned that being able to see, from the right side of the AK where the charging handle, a small hole where the dust cover meets the receiver. According to that anon and about 4 others backing up what he said, I'll have to take it for what it is.

And yeah, the SLR104's barrel is goddamned straw thin.

What a beautiful rifle but man is it plagued.

"pairing with?" you mean to carry as a sidearm while your primary is an AK?

For the weight of a pistol you could probably carry another rifle mag or two.

That having been said if The Habbening habbens my sidearm is likely to be a 4" stainless GP100, with few speedloaders on my belt. If I have a problem that can't be solved with six rounds of fullhouse .357 Mag, well, it's a good thing I brought a rifle to the fight, now isn't it?

Two fully loaded steel AK mags (7.62x39) is roughly equivalent to an unloaded Glock 17 plus four fully loaded 17 round magazines.

So you can either have 60 extra AK rounds or 68 Glock rounds. One could debate back and forth which one would be better to have, but IMO having a good backup is definitely something worth having.on hand.

maybe mine was a lemon, but as far as 54R is concerned, it shot like shit. Functioned perfectly, but couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. I bought it brand new from a dealer, still wrapped in plastic. Ironically, bulgy surplus was the best shooting ammo I ever ran in it. Shot about 3" with it at 75 yards. Shot some 7N1, and some PPU too, they shot wider groups.

Bought a PTR, shot about 1.25" at 150 yards with white box x51. I say this to illustrate that it wasn't me missing. The rifle shot shit all over the place. Barrel whip maybe? Never knew. Sold it for $1500.

Just a quick question- anyone ever have problems with bullets nicking their brakes?

My WASR did this a while back and now I found a nick in my SLR brake. Any reasons why this would happen after so many rounds or how to prevent it from happening again? I was thinking of using a washer to stabilize the brake more.

I know my SLR104 gets some pretty thick carbon buildup around the muzzle. Could this be problematic? I've scrubbed it pretty good, but there's still some stuck on there.

You want proof? I have plenty; read some of the posts in this thread alone concerning returns for defects.

If you want to pay $800 for an AK that people are having to return for simple issues that should have never been shipped, I'm all for it brother.

I won't. I've got two $260 PSAK47 betas with lifetime warranties, I don't need a $800 or $1000 DDI beta, or a $650 PSA beta to go with them.

Good luck

Their round ones aren't bad, I've fired thousands through mine, with minor lubrication I'll admit, and haven't seen any real wear, especially compared to the Arsenals I've seen so far, some anon showed his arsenal with sub 1000 rounds and the hammer is deforming, mine isn't deforming whatsoever after several thousand.
>>
Opinions on the best aftermarket AK grip? I'm liking the magpul moe+ grip but some people complain about the grip angle.
>>
Be honest, what is everyone's real expectations from Thursday?

Is the SLR going to absolutely shit the bed and going to be more broken than the RAS47? Or is it going to make it through all 5000 rounds with some finish issues and minor wear?

I can't wait until Thursday. Maybe then the blueballs will go away and the shitposts about how people "should sell their SLRs for 500 bucks" will cease.
>>
>>29821596
I'm just hoping they have more problems so I can pick up a bunch of cheap older production SLRs on the cheap.
>>
>>29821596
There will likely be some issues with the rifle, but probably not as bad as some may be expecting. But worse than a 1000 dollar rifle should have.
>>
>>29821596

>finish will be obliterated
>rust
>no parkerizing underneath or at least very shit

that's about all I can think off. I'm sure the rifle will be mechanically fine (cept maybe the trigger) through the entire test.
>>
>>29821596
Other than the finish I'm betting the FCG breaks.

Like, unacceptably early.
>>
>>29821716

Damn that sucks you had a bad time with it man. I admit mine took a bunch of work to make it shine, but I think I have it dialed in as far as I can make it go. Seems to favor the heavier 182gr PPU stuff versus the 147gr steel cased red army standard. I just wish mine didn't chew up brass cases so badly, trying to repair those cases is damn near impossible half the time.

The rail for my beryl just came in today.
Can't for the life of me figure out how to get it on.

as far as i'am seeing its the xm line of slr's. I have a xk line slr107fr and I've dumped two 75rd drums and a couple of mags bumpfiring and just trigger timing until my hand guards were smoking and no finish has come off or bubbled. my guess is that its a little bit of arsenal getting sloppy on qc becasue of so many orders all around the world and that there sporter rifles are lesser on the important list.
