First time trying to fire my Ak-74. I bought range time and had to get special bullets that wouldn't stick to a magnet, had 100 total for $47.

The mechanism worked fine dry, but when I let the bolt slide back, the round wouldn't feed into the barrel. It stuck out about 6mm or so.

I field stripped it twice to try and fuck with the bolt mechanism, each time it worked fine, no success.

Gun is authentic Kalash make, I had the right caliber bullet, tried two different mags to no avail.

I'm pretty annoyed /k/.
I have both receipts for the ammo boxes and my range, I'd like refunds for both.

Do I talk to the store I bought from? The ammo company? Thanks. It did ruin some of the rounds and I threw one out.
>>
Show us the gun, and the markings on the side, and show us the ammo.

>It stuck out about 6mm or so.
>difference between 5.45 and 5.56 case length is 6mm
if this thread goes the way I think it will I will be upset
>>
>>29802154
I bought 5.45 shells. If they were marked wrong I don't know.
>>
>>29802154
I hope it does, cause then it's an easy fix. OP's probably a retard and is trying to find his thread though. So I guess we'll wait.
>>
>>29802287
Post the box, a cartridge, and the gun's markings. Otherwise we can only speculate.

Okay now the gun and the magazines you used. I think I know what's up though.
>>
>>29802357
what exact model of 74 do you have?
when loading, do you push the charging handle forward or release it at the back, letting the recoil spring put it into battery?

that Hornady stuff is good to my gun

Feeds perfectly when empty. Catches 6mm from close with those rounds.
Have not tried the other kind Because I do not have a range.

Talked to the store manager and gun experts where I bought the bullets and gun, both were completely stumped

Mags top. The metal things in the drum are normal and don't cause issues.

>>29802977
The bullets I tried have been returned/RMAed so I don't know.

They took the gun and bullets into the warehouse and did some things or whatnot, not sure what. Just confirmed that it was weird.

look to see if there's a broken shell in the chamber

Nevermind, I misread the problem and just assumed you were having problems feeding because of the drum mag.
>>
>>29803087
visually inspect the chamber, either a broken shell or a lemon rifle. You should go back to the store you got it from and demand a replacement or free smithing to spec. If not, just have them ream it for you.

also you could have the broken off neck of a 5.45 casing stuck in the front of the chamber from bubbas conversion job, but the bullet setback makes me think you just have a squib/bubba used the wrong ammo succesfully.

you bought this used or new OP?

if it isn't clear something is in the chamber/barrel, then have a gunsmith do a chamber cast. or just get your money back>>29803113 if they sell you a damaged product either they or the factory have to take it back; the gun shop would be the intermediary to ship back the old one and transfer a new one to you after BubbaCo reserializes one for you

gee i wonder if that could be stopping the fucking round from seating properly.

so you're telling me that two gun range employees "inspected" your rifle and didn't fucking notice a barrel obstruction?

>>
>>29803300
Well to be fair, would you run your cleaning rod through a brand new gun? What about if you were new?

yes, to clean the packing grease out. At least a few dry patches

Also how the fuck was your first idea NOT checking the chamber and barrel when your rounds werent feeding. It's not fuckin' rocket surgery jesus christ...
>>
>>29803300
I doubt it in of itself would have done much, but if it didn't explode out the front harmlessly it'd make the bullet fired a squib. then you have yourself a problem.

>>29803332
>Well to be fair, would you run your cleaning rod through a brand new gun?
and field strip it, remove the shipping grease that IS NOT lube, lube that bitch, then reassemble and finger fuck it for a good while and point it at imaginary chinese paratroopers with the finger off the trigger until I autistically chamber check the gun several times and test the trigger break. >>
Well thank you all, most were extremely angry and condescending towards me, and eventually it became correct because a broken clock is right occasionally.

I read ALL instructions and materials that came with it. ZERO mention of plastic shit clogging everything.

This is my first gun ever purchased. I would ASSUME that anything that could make my gun go 'boom in a bad way' would be either, A: Declared on instructions with gun, B: informed to me at gun store, or C: Visible/obvious in some way. Education: if you have no experience and are not told, how the fuck are you supposed to know??
>>

Would you buy a car without looking under the hood? Would you buy a house without actually going inside and looking around? Of course not. It's no different.

>Education: if you have no experience and are not told, how the fuck are you supposed to know??
Why on earth would you go to the store and spend hundreds of dollars on something you know absolutely nothing about? Did it ever occur to you to do some research about what you're buying before hand, or how to properly inspect a firearm instead of just waking up one morning and deciding "HMM I WUNNA BUY A GUN" and moseying in down to the store to buy something you know nothing about?
>>
>>29803649

what part of 4chan didn't you understand?

a broken chamber flag isn't "supposed" to be jammed down barrel m8 but why the fuck would you not check for a barrel obstruction when you noticed that you were literally breaking rounds trying to jam it closed?
>>
Oh and also:
The gun EXPERTS who looked it over didn't find/see it. And you all mock me?
K k /k/, thanks for the peace of mind that my gun is fine.
>>
>>29803799
protip: don't go back to that range

A. the people who work there are obviously retarded
B. they are massive kikes
B.1. they cheaped out on their backstop and are afraid bimetal mild steel cored ammo will punch through it eventually and hit whatever is behind their range
B.2. they don't clean their range often enough or at all, fearing steel skipping on concrete and lighting powder residue, old targets, dust, etc. on fire. This also means that they have a shit filtration system and you're unnecessarily exposing yourself to particulate lead dust.
B.3. they are too lazy to sort out steel cases from the brass bucket as they lehappymerchant resell/scrap the rangebrass. same for when they replace the backstop and have several thousand dollarydoos of copper and lead.

>>29803799
Just because someone works at a gun store doesn't make them an expert. It's no different than a retail job. Does working in the electronics department at Walmart make you an electronical engineer?

I've met countless gun store employees who didn't know shit about guns and only worked there because it was a job.
>>
>>29803799
I'm not any of those guys but checking the chamber and barrel should be done before you ever accept a firearm from a transfer or buy it from a gun store. You'll only need to buy one shit gun before you realize how important research and proper inspection are. I wouldn't go back to those guys if they missed something so obvious.
