Does anywhere have M39s other than classic?

I would be willing to shell out some real dosh for one in actually pristine shape.

I hate this rifle, consider converting it to a PU rifle and using it for deer hunting. Any suggestions / help?

Yeah, don't. Get an actual deer rifle. If it's not accurate enough to use the irons for hunting, putting a scope on it (especially a PU) won't help
>>
>>29801477
depending on where you are fmj is illegal for hunting durr

I got my heart broken but better than a couple hundred dollar fine
>>
>>29801760
Its accuracy is fine, and better with ammo that isn't shitty corrosive surplus. And putting a scope on it would 100% help, what kind of bullshit is that? I'm converting the fucker anyway because Mosins objectively suck compared to similar rifles.

I'm not interested in buying a new rifle at this time.

>>29801771
I'd be using brass-cased soft points anyway, possibly reloads if I decide it's important enough.

Classic is the only place I've seen them recently. I got one of the "late date" rifles last year, when they had them in stock. Paid extra for un-issued. What I got was about 99.5% of being a new rifle.

I went into a fun store to get some ammo, and accidentally another nugget into the collection.

try holding the top cartridge. But your thumb on top of the base, and wrap your index finger around the bullet/neck and push down. They can be tricky.

Only firearm I own (besides a blackpowder) and I keep it in easy access with some ammo for SD. Does anyone know of a better way to store it safely for emergency use? If I keep four in the magazine and shut the bolt with the chamber empty will put wear on magazine? If anyone helps I'll explain why the cleaning rod has dental floss on it, if you care to know that it

Modern made stripper clips are general shit, if holding them properly like >>29807833 said, try taking a pair of pliers and lightly bending them wider, if you go too far they wont hold the ammo at all, and depending on which there may be extra retaining fins on the ends.

Classic Firearms still has M39s, which are objectively the best nugget that accepts a wide variety of ammo (glares at M27 and M28).

did you do the threads yourself?
i have a roached out mosin i want to do something similar with but the barrel threading is where im stuck.
my choices are
1. just crown the barrel
2. spend $100 on an annular cutter
3.?

It was bubbad to shit when I got it. Sanded off finish, ground off sights, ATI stock inletted with a knife or teeth or something. Would have gone full obrez but the dang gubment won't allow it in my country.....

>>29813531
a friend has a lathe so he did it for me. The yugo brake is rebored for 5/8x24 as is the barrel.
>>
>>29813584
>yugo brake is rebored for 5/8x24 as is the barrel
i was also thinking 5/8x28 so i can use 308 AR brakes.
unfortunately, im thinking a gunsmith would charge me too much for this project. i dont want to sink in a lot of money on a free fun gun. i guess ill just go with a no threads and wear sunglasses when i shoot

Ive been curious, because they started the program of turning mosins into dedicated sniper rifles in 1942 would that mean that mosin made before that have the potential to be DMRs.

pic related my Mosin
and yes i know it looks like an oversized pellet gun the I guy i bought this from was a short guy who cut down the stock so it wasn't as heavy. because there is not place for a sling ive been thinking about buying a scabbard with a sling for it.
>>
>>29813962
Only the highest scoring mosin (Singular) in a batch of 1000 would be designated for that.

Do pic related

This mine, finished it on Saturday. I bought a brass stacker, ~$65. Allows you to put a scope on without damaging the rifle, and you can still use the iron sights

What you do is punch the bottom pins out of the iron sight block, put the rail over it and put in the new pins/screws they give with it.
Comes with basically everything you need (rail mount, hole punch, drill to clean up the holes, Allen wrench to tighten) And instructions

Although you may need to use a MAP torch, because they usually used silver solder to put the pins in place, it will have to be melted. Takes 60 seconds and a vice to hold the barrel/reciever in

That scope isn't what I'll be using, just an airshit one. I wanted to see how it'd look. You'll need a nice long eye relief scout scope, because of the scope being so far forward on the rifle

Did something similar with a 46 m44, it was in kinda rough shape but the bore is good and it was 162 after tax the bolt is also Remington marked not sure how a bolt from a remington contract nugget ended up in a post war CAI import m44 but the bolt alone is worth probably close to what I paid for the rifle.

She's nothing too special, just a '43 91/30, all matching, but she appears to be hardly used; the rifling is great and there's still red paint on the rear sight and receiver.
>>
>>29819259
The red paint was added at the arsenal where the rifle was stored after it was refurbished. Made it easier to see the numbers. Does it have /25\ mark?
