I mean, sure the m14 isn't the best battle rifle, or even that good of a rifle. It is less reliable and heavier than the competition. But it's the rifle anon's got, and it's the one he likes shooting, and it's the one he (hopefully) shoots well with. We get tangled up in optimizing our shit alot, but there's a certain point were all the shit works, just use which ever one you have, don't worry about the competition

belt plan sounds good - is 4 the maximum capacity for your chest rig?

I've been toying with magpul's 40 rounders in my own rig. Seems like they could really change the round count dynamic.

If you really want to go down the rabbit hole, we could also discuss ammo for your sidearm...
>>
I run 5+1 on my rig for my rifle, then 3+1 for my pistol on my belt. Spare rounds, and a few spare mags incase i screw one or two up in my bag. Course running .308 and .45 weight plays a big part

Picked up a new rifle as a dedicated one for the waifu. The rifle and pistol are just a start, but I've got enough squirreled away gear that I think shortly she'll have a kit she likes.

Working her up to rucking with a loaded down outdoors backpack. Eventually going to swap her to one of my old rucks.

Browsing SMCT. It ain't exactly a literary classic, but you're never too cool for the simple stuff.

Yeah, 4 is the max. I tried 40's but they weren't comfortable in the rig or my gun. I plan on getting two taco pistol mag pouches for my belt so I'll have 2+1 for that, don't see the need for more than that as I "shouldn't" have to use it.

The DA is longer, but the SA is very short and feels amazing to shoot. Especially with the Short Reset Trigger. The 226 honestly has the best trigger out of any pistol I've fired.
>>
>>29799664
I've tried a CZ before, some kind of competition gun, and the trigger pull was disgustingly long holy shit. Only other triggers I use have been Glock and 1911 ones. Otherwise I'm thinking maybe a used Beretta 92fs.

this is semi related question, I started a blue collarish job that involves a lot of outdoor working, because of this I'm beginning to realize how awesome cargo pants are for their durability, flexibility, breathability in heat, dozens of pockets etc. So I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on quality cargo pants. maybe something thats kinda /fa/ and tapers at the bottom (not all wide legged and boot cut like most work pants)

.303's pretty available here in Aus, but anything that I go with is going to be expensive.
It's honestly one of the more common cartridges - right up there with .308 and .30-06.

It looks like my options are bandoliers (which look annoying as hell) that carry 50rd, ammo belts like pic related which carry 100rd or maybe some kind of vest.

I'm basically just trying to find something which I can put on quickly that can hold some ammo, water, a first aid kit and maybe an extra pouch for stuff like toilet paper, maps, food etc for a day.

I'll probably go with the ammo belt. It looks like you can attach haversacks and stuff to them fairly easily.

Coming from a person that has been in very intense tactical and combat situations, I cannot possibly visualize what in gods name you would be thinking trying to add all of that SHIT on that perfectly good firearm. First and foremost you are doing nothing but adding on unnecessary weight which will slow you down. I don't know if you have ever even been underneath a vehicle but you would have very limited room and this weapon has entirely too much junk hanging off of it in every direction for you to ever fit in underneath a vehicle unless that vehicle is a 4x4 truck that's lifted so high that it is a mall crawler and looks just as ridiculous as your over accessorized once upon a time nicely made weapon. Someone who probably sat around watching YouTube videos of what kind of stupid accessories he could keep adding onto his AR-15 just in case he was in some tactical situation. Very simply I think this gun is an absolute waste of money and beyond that a waste of time. Its not practical, it has way too many things for you to actually put into effect in a real life situation, and this honestly makes me think that someone should have done a more extensive background check before selling you that firearm. This isn't the walking dead and we're not walking into some imaginary zombie apocalypse, however if that does happen anytime soon, the first place I will be headed is to your house in order to take you down and tear your weapon apart in order to equip 3 or 4 of my closest friends with some kick ass accessories since you seem to have enough on there to go around. Then it should be pretty easy to survive the worst parts of that situation and repopulate the earth without fear of contamination by your seed of absolute ignorance. Thank you for your time and I hope your weapon falls apart as quickly as possible. Please don't buy any more guns.

>>
>>29805916
The paint on the rifle is NOT meant to look good. I'm not sure why you're thinking that maintaining a parade inspection appearance in camouflage is a good thing.
Even in the Marines, it was common knowledge to the most boot grunt that for field use, dirty cammies blend better than clean cammies. Dirty cammies that are also a little ripped up are even better for blending, provided the cargo pockets haven't blown out and it doesn't create a catching hazard.

Just a GI rod right out of the green issued kit. It's there more to help with malfunctions and stuck cases than for actual cleaning.

Currently using a d-ring because it was what happened to be laying around that was the right size.

2x30 is as heavy as I'd go, IMO. It's already pretty decent weight. If you're going to use a 40 round magazine, I'd just keep it single.

>>29807644
If you do it remember to go overkill on the tape and use a spacer that won't crumple with moisture (ie- don't use cardboard).

>>29807672
So, like I said to the anon, you do you. I like to DIY stuff. I try to fix things using the minimum amount of tools necessary. I like to think it keeps me in a mentality of problem solving rather than throwing money at things. I ain't saying taping mags together is rocket science, but I approached like I do other things, with the idea of doing more with less.

No disrespect to the expensive factory stuff, of course.

remove single mag from vest, insert into gun.

you are fucking retarded. the point of jungle taping a mag is so when you are patrolling and you take contact you dump that shit and have a quick reload. then you ditch the whole fucking thing and start using your primary reload mags. mags are disposable

Fellas, you're making me blush over here. I feel like the belle of the ball being fought over. I had no idea a fairly simple (from my POV) DIY would cause so much drama.

I like DIYing stuff because it keeps one in the mentality of stretching out available gear as far as possible. You'd be shocked how hobo tier my boots get before I start wearing new ones.

I shoe-goo my boots, I resew my combat clothes, I tape and dye and such things to my weapons to keep them going.

>>29807807

>>29807907
>mags are disposable

This is one of those situations that makes me go "Ehhhhh...."

Mag retention isn't worth trading your life for, obviously. But you shouldn't go out the door with the intention of tossing a mag away. Even the double mags go in a dump pouch or cargo pocket. It's not about the monitary cost of the thing either, it's about having or not having. If you're one of the .mil posters here, you can understand that it's irrelevant if a mag costs $1 or $300, if you drop it when your living at an OP, then it's gone and you are down one more mag to fill up with ammo. Leaving trash on the battlefield in general is a nasty habit.

I'm out of pics without my external HD, so here's some Rani.

The chicom I have can hold 8 pmags a radio and a 6inch bandage with a TQ

The sdaf can actually hold 9 AR mags but it sticks off your chest pretty far. It can also hold the radio and the ifak.

I personally think that the chicom is more comfortable. The ridgedness and roughness of the sdaf rig along with the padded straps thickness makes it less comfortable to wear under a backpack
