I built my AR and felt pretty confidant about it, how much harder is building a FAL? From what I heard it involves head spacing which scares the shit out of me.

OP here. From what I have read so far, Isreali kits are super expensive and rare so that is off the table. I am having a little trouble finding allot of parts kits for same in general, anywhere I should be looking besides Gunbroker? Plus it would be cool if any of you guys could post pics of your builds so I can know what to expect.

The rifle that I tried using was a DSA I think, fit and finish seems to be adequate for a FAL.

I don't know much about building them, although as far as I know don't mix the metric and the imperial parts together.

Headspacing and timing are both fairly simple. Provided you actually use gauges.

One other option is to search the internet and local gun shops for a cai fal with an imbel reciever.

So of those can go for pretty cheap just because of the cai mark.

From there you can either have a gunsmith go over it. Or do if youself.

Outside of fn imbel is the best receiver out there.

Then the forged DSAs and Coonans.

Also, the whole pot metal thing is a meme. Ive got an fal with a cast receiver. Its got over three thousand rnds thru it with no issues.

Worry more about headspace and how the rifle was assembled.

Thats the real issue with all the do it yourself FALs out there.

Does anyone know what fal the peru armies used, only thing my dad told me stock and grips where synthetic. I assume it's the full 21 in barrel.
