It's true for all cartridges.
Smokeless only allowed the same pressure for less powder volume. It did not suddenly change pressure ratings of older guns.
For quite a while blackpowder and smokeless were sold for the same guns without differentiation between them. People bought them based on price point.

Nicely done, I had my Mosin stock split shortly after I got it from my dad, we used a similar method but I never used a shop vac to pull the glue though. Repair held up well too, put probably a good 2k rounds through it before I simply replaced the stock for one that looked nicer.

In the black powder days the brass kept powder from burning through the waxed paper. Now it's done for style and marketing.

It is but they're rare. Best you can usually do is a newer production Taurus 44 (which are very nice, don't listen to /k/) or a newer Single action clone.

Ruger and S&W big-bore Revolvers are expensive as all hell. I'd definitely get a Taurus 44 for sub-$500 before anything else.

I picked up a G40 "problem solver" 2 weeks ago and have already put 700 rounds through it, downed 2 wild hogs, and as far as I can tell 10mm IS NOT a meme round.
Seriously, this caliber seems rock solid in reliability and range.
Just my opinion though.

This gun has gotten me interested in reloading some black powder shells, which I imagine eventually will lead into reloading for my milsurp guns. I don't intend to put smokeless in, I already have some black powder through my step father that I can use here along with shotgun primers, 69 caliber balls and wads, I just need the shells.

If indeed damscus steel, research the proof marks on your shotgun.
See what pressure it was proofed at.
Use that as a high end.
The problem, as I have research, with damascus/twist steel, is that rust forms inbetween the layers of steel weakening it overall.

So, find your pressure rating, and don't use more than that. Have a gunsmith check it to confirm if it is damscus, and if so, be wary that its integrity may have degraded in ways you cannot visually ascertain. Most shotshell boxes I have seen list the average pressure of their loads.

Don't be dumb and you won't lose your face.

Just bought this AR-180. An original Costa Mesa Armalite rifle. Got it with two original AR-180 magazines and a bunch of Brownell's reproduction magazines for $950. It also included an original scope mount but sadly the original scope is MIA. Original scopes aren't too expensive though.

Had never really considered an AR-180 but this one came up to auction and I figured why not.

You know what really makes me wonder sometimes?

My old man has a collection of old Krag Jorgensons. All of them are most likely guns that amateur smiths learned their trade on--little mistakes abound, the wood isn't always finished right, sometimes there's bad jeweling that wasn't or couldn't be corrected. But they all fit and shoot better than just about any gun in his collection. It kind of makes me wonder, where some of these guys went, maybe somewhere they have the crown jewel of their work stuffed away in a museum or private collection. It's always awesome to see those first few steps out into the craft from someone who might have gone on to make a name for themselves.

I gotta wonder if Potterfield has a few of those floating around out there, forgotten on the beater rack or just sitting over some trailer park TV set, long forgotten by their builder.

So got the Taurus 44 a few days ago and my last buy before that was this kewl S&W 4566TSW. I removed the Hogue grip and installed the original S&W Polymer one, but I got the Curved backstrap and think I should've gotten the Flat.

Anyway, this 4566TSW is SUPER nice - machining and fit are great, trigger is super nice, finish is beautiful and barrel lockup is really tight. Should be a very accurate gun and soft-shooting considering it's all steel. Hopefully going to the range today to try it out for the first time.

Bought my first firearm today. Walked into the fun store just to ask some questions and left with a s&w m&p9. Overall I'm very satisfied.

I walked into the funshop looking for a full frame Glock in .45 and ended up getting sold a Springfield XD .45
How bad did I do for my first gun at 469 plus tax and such

Price is fine, but the Springfield XD (imo) has a much better grip and ergonomics than the Glock. I also prefer the XD trigger to the Glocks but it breaks a little too far back against the frame for my tastes.

Glock fags will berate you for buying a 'croatshit' gun, but the XD guns are very good. They shoot great and fit the hand much more naturally than the Glocks.

Congrats. Here's a little protip though: don't buy ammo at gun stores. At least buy it at Walmart around 20 cents a round or, ideally, order it online from sites like SGAmmo.com or I like Freedommunitions.com for the selection.

Best place to find a mauser-pattern bayonet? I really want one, but it seems as though the prices are kind of up there.
