Got a Witness Match in 10mm. The frame can't handle 10mm and from looking at the .40 and 9mm slide I really get the impression the gun is made for the 9mm. I can recommend it in 9 but not in 40.

Talking from experience, the Witness cannot handle "full power" 10mm loads. I'm on my 3rd frame to prove. And that's with the stiffest recoil spring and a Sprinco recoil reducer.

ive got a witness in 38 super and read online before buying that the frames were of a softer mild steel and didnt handle +p 10mm very well but i figured they could atleast handle proper self defense ammo

Hindsight being 20/20 you are right but when I bought it I wanted a special snow flake gun to go with my special snow flake round. Seems like they are well liked by some pro shooters (henning wallgren for example). They are running low power comp rounds though. I'm running hot snow flake loadings from Underwood (and some home rolled stuff). Plus at the time I really hated Glock and the Glock 20 is really the only choice for 10mm. The Delta Elite has a host of problems too running full power 10mm loadings.

I have since got over my Glock hate. Just sold my Glock 20 to order a Glock 40. Already have a Glock 41 that I love. I guess the moral of the story is everyone gotta waste money on something before they get what they should have got in the first place

Yeah, I got mine in the back of my safe along with a 9mm conversion slide with 5 mags for each the 10mm and 9mm. I can't even tell you when the last time I shot it was. Just pisses me off how much money I got tied up in that gun. Plus in all honestly I rather just shoot my M&P9L with the Apex trigger then break out the Witness.

I suggest going to a gun range and renting a few guns. Sure it cost money but it's better than buying a gun you'll end up not liking. If you already done that than I would suggest the CZ. They're quality pistols. At least the ones I've fired.

Frame life and parts life on CZs are short to begin with even in 9mm because the barrel link has no bedding and depends on the slide release to absorb a lot of recoil, making it a big weakpoint of the whole design including the area around it.

bump up the pressure to 40s&w it gets worse, bump it up further to 10mm and youre looking at a gun that will be very lucky to come close to a 8,000 round life span

to give you an idea of how bad that is, 1911's and Sig p226 series guns last over 100,000 rounds before frame breakage
