Looking for a shotgun that will stop a bear or other heavy animal
1. Mossberg 500
2. Rifle would be more useful
You're talking about getting in a situation where you're being mauled by a very large moving animal or hunting, either of which would be better served by both longer range and higher capacity
FAL is your only option

>Looking for a shotgun that will stop a bear or other heavy animal
Any quality 12Ga. will do, real life isn't a video game and guns don't have a damage stat. Barrel length can make a difference, but choke is a bit more important as far as shotguns go.
Remington's 870 and the Mossberg 500 are the standard go-to guns for people new to shotguns.
>Pump
Remington 870
Mossman 500

Benelli M4
Any loaded with slugs will drop any animal in North America

Whatever shoots these well:
Brenneke Magnum Crush 3" 12ga slugs
Slug: 1½ ounce / 666 grains
Muzzle velocity: 1604 fps
Muzzle energy: 3804 ft lbs
It's the most powerful commercial slug I know of.
It literally has the same energy as TWO Federal Truball rifled slugs fired at the same time.

Nothing's going to laugh off a single 12ga slug, much less a semi auto hail of them.

Won't even need to cut up the meat for storage

Why not 10mm?

This. Mossberg 500 or a Benelli Nova loaded with these will kill buildings.
Why not .44 magnum revolver? Its a lot more convienient that lugging around a shotgun, unless you live in Canada.
