The Talib an have the same level of tech the vietcong had in the 60s
And yet both the Soviet Union and united states seem to have a hard time dealing with them.
Why?

Hamstrung by politicians

Because literally everyone in the region wants the foreign forces out, so the local forces can operate with pretty much total immunity.

Would you say the Nazis DIDNT conquer France in WW2? By every measure they did, they destroyed their effective fighting forces and toppled the government in place. Sure, there was a resistance, but just because a number of French kept fighting doesn't mean the Nazis did not conquer France.
The same is true of the USA in Afghanistan. Yes, a small force continues to wage guerilla war, but the USA is dominant militarily. The war seems to be going poorly because the victory conditions of that war were not just steamroll an army, but to rebuild it and leave it a mythical utopia where aging has been cured and no one ever dies again.
The Soviets lost about 15,000 men in ten years of fighting. The USA lost roughly 2,300 men in 15 years of fighting.
Compared to WW1 where were 1.8 MILLION dead Russians over 4 years of fighting and they WON that war. The Americans in WW1 suffered 53,000 deaths in LESS THAN A YEAR.
When you look at the tiny, piddling, infinitesimal, loses the Soviets or Americans have suffered against the Taliban you can see that these wars, while costly economically, were hardly demonstrations of militaries unable to deal with insurgents.

This. The same applies to vietnam.
The same applies to Russia going into Afghanistan in the 80's.

I just assume that everybody that spews this shit was clinically diagnosed retarded. Do you have any idea how fucking restricted we are by ROE and this bullshit of being scared of doing what you need to do in fear of prison for killing Habib recording you while you get shot at. It's complete bullshit, if total war went into effect, there wouldn't be anything left.

Because we love our tech so much that we throw it at problems.
Never criticise without offereing a sloution.
How about this:
Instead of acting as as salesmen for defense contractors, the officer corps should serve as buffers between politicians and our troops so we can get in and out without a bunch of BS.
Push more Green to Gold.
Ifunny... REEEEEE!!!!
Because ending the war is more expensive if the US is expected to do nation building than having a de escalating presence untill it's not the US's fault anymore.
>kill Ahmed
>Ahmed's friends and family get angry at America
>they join ISIS/terrorist group here
It's like breaking a stick: you just end up with more stick.
And, this is a technically unconventional war, so victory is going to be unconventional as another person said.
>Social Media
>Better ways of communication
>Fractured branching factions
Legit, all there is to it.
