Does anyone actually like the A2 Pistol grip?

I've used them a lot on issued rifles, and I only really like the extremely worn down and smoothed down ones like pic related. I picked up a friend's AR with a brand new one and my hand was not agreeing with it, the grip is too harsh. I usually feel the same way about pistol grips, worn down just feels better.

Thanks guys, I'll definitely keep this in mind. I have a while before I make any decision and I have no issue with waiting longer to pony up the extra 400 for the complete upper if thats what I end up doing. Aesthetics are important to me, but end of the day I want this to be a hard-use rifle.

Whats a good/standard price for an upper and a barrel? I have seen some that are like $400+. I don't need/want anything fancy just basic but with quality make and material. I found ones I like that are both ~$85. I don't want to buy them and get crap or a lemon. Knowing my luck I probably will.

PSA is budget tier goodness. It is deff worth it in my opinion and you'll find others as well. PSA is my base line for rifles. The use Carpenter 158 steel in their bolts and a CHF process for their barrels, premium line i think.

My sbr is a PSA premium upper.

Its really more for mental reassurance than anything else. The new Mega wedge locks have them too and its largely redundant given what Weapon Outfitters wrote up about it. You'd have to grind the crack out as well as the surrounding anodization inside and out to prevent contamination, weld, grind to profile, then refinish.

Even then weld metal is just the same as cast so it will never be as strong as the surrounding forging, and if it cracked before it will crack again.

Unless it is something like a registered lower receiver or otherwise complete unobtanium it is just not worth the job time.
