Are the izhmash sporters 100% Russian AKs and are they any good?
>>
>>29652862
Yes but they're the very definition of bare bones, meant to dodge import bans.

Really, they exist to be converted back to a mil spec configurations.
>>
>>29652862
Yes and yes.
>>
>>29652862
They're the closest thing to true Russian AKs that you can buy. They're good quality but you need to convert them to bring them back to what an AK should be.
>>
>>29652828
>I don't want the civi version
Then you'll have to resort to private listings on forums or gunbroker, nobody stocks the real deal. They're not easy to find.
>>29652862
100% Russian. Fairly good quality although I would probably put the SLRs over the average Saiga due to parts fitment and finish. Perfectly reliable and properly built though.

>>29653376
Yes, but you will need to swap out/add some parts. That's what people mean by converting them.

Pic related is my saiga that used to be in the sporting configuration.
>>
>>29653376
How do you not know about Saiga conversions? Spend 5 minutes on google and answer your own question.
>>
>>29653376
Yes it is possible but it requires you to do what's called a Saiga conversion. How hard the conversion is to do depends on how "correct" you want to do it. You can do one that works with a dremel and a screwdriver. But to do it the best way it can be done requires much more.

>>

>>29653376
This is an example of a Saiga that's been converted pretty much 100%. The old gas block and front sight block have been removed, the barrel has been notched to accept the lower handguard retainer, the gas tube has been replaced, the gas block and front sight block have been replaced and pinned to the barrel, the trigger guard has been removed and a new trigger guard and mag catch assembly has been riveted on (five rivets). No simple task really.

>>29653465
Check WTS ads too, I know when I go to sell something I don't even check the WTB section, I just list it. Also you can create a saved search on gunbroker that will email you daily with search results. "5.5mm" would be a good keyword.

Throwing around the idea of getting rid of the 105. Been thinking that going to a 106 would help me consolidate calibers. Or one in 7.62x39 would be nice because the ammo is cheap and available locally.

Anyone want said 105? Figured I'd start asking $1000 OBO. Or is 5.45 vastly superior to 5.56 and worth keeping for some special snowflake reason?

Arsenal USA and FIME are staffed by the same exact employees out of the same exact building, the word FIME only exists because Russia was upset bulgarian and russian guns were being sold under the arsenal name at the same time.

Which is surprising because Arsenal bulgaria is licensed by Izhmash to produce Kalashnikovs.

The word FIME only exists on import paperwork.

Is this one of the things you have to expect with these rifles? It came here from a coastal state so hopefully it's in better hands here.
>>
>>29657844
What?
>>
>>29657844

Because Arsenals (supposedly) are higher quality.
>>
>>29657844
Because Bulgaria makes the best AKs out there. Even the man MK himself (pbuh) admitted it. WASRs are great and Romania makes great guns, but Bulgaria are the best (current) AK builders of Europe.

Also Arsenal Las Vegas =/= Arsenal Bulgaria

Two entirely different companies.

Arsenal Las Vegas converts/converted Saigas (which are made in and imported from Russia) and Arsenal Bulgaria manufactures rifles and imports them into the US

Also this question is fucking stupid and you should feel bad for being a retard
>>
>>29657847

Arsenal Las Vegas also does work on the Arsenal of Bulgaria imports which are brought in through FIME. Not the same thing but they're not different companies.
>>

>Two entirely different companies.
They aren't though. See: >>29654178

This isn't like Kalashnikov USA vs Kalashnikov Concern. The Arsenals are very closely related since the US one was founded by the Bulgarian one.
>>
>>29657900

All arsenal Las vegas does is add the 922r parts and mill out the magwell to accept double stack mags.

The saiga sporting rifles require A lot of work to resemble a AK, the bulgy guns are much closer to their factory configuration vs the saigas.

http://www.arsenalinc.com/usa/FAQs.html#q5

>Q: Is Arsenal Inc. and Arsenal Co. of Bulgaria the same company?
>A: Arsenal Inc. of Las Vegas, Nevada is not the same company as Arsenal Co. of Kazanlak, Bulgaria. Arsenal Inc. manufactures their own products and is the exclusive distributor for Arsenal Co. products.

The only thing Arsenal Las Vegas does to the products they import from Arsenal Bulgaria is put the necessary US made parts on the rifles to make them legal. They're only the distributor of Arsenal Bulgaria. They're not the same company.

>Who imports the Arsenal Bulgarian rifles? I give you a hint, it's fucking Arsenal LV.
No shit Arsenal Las Vegas imports rifles from Arsenal Bulgaria.

Does that make the Cugir factory and Century Arms the same company because one manufactures WASRs and one imports/distributes them? Of course not.
>>
>>29657968

So Arsenal Co. makes the bulgie parts for the AK, and Arsenal Inc. of Las Vegas puts some US parts on them to comply with 922r.

Got it.

>So Arsenal Co. makes the bulgie parts for the AK
Arsenal Co/Arsenal Bulgaria manufactures the rifles. The Arsenal SLR line are all made in Bulgaria. The only US made parts on the SLR line of rifles are the trigger, hammer, disconnector, muzzle brake, hand guards, pistol grip, and polymer stock, all of which are added in the US when imported to comply with 922r.

I'm not sure about the SGL line as I've never owned one, but I'm guessing the 922r parts are the same plus whatever parts are necessary on a converted Saiga.
>>
>>29658030
>Do you worry that owning an AK will make you a bit of an outsider, an oddity, or sometimes even someone to be looked down upon?

No. It's what I like, and it's what I am most comfortable with. If people have a problem with that, they have not enough of their own shit to worry about.

Trench art is cool because it's a form of personalization. It usually shows that something was issued and nobody bothered going back over it to "fix" the condition and instead the item was chucked. People who don't like trench art must be dull.

Nothing stops you from owning multiple guns, you know. I own a good AK and a great AR. This alone puts me in front of most of my friends when it comes to gun ownership. Why would I care about their thoughts of my AK? They can call it a commie gun all they want, but at the end of the day it's a firearm they don't have and something they always ask to shoot whenever we head out shooting.

Why do people treat Yugo M67 like the pre-apocalypse ammo from Metro?

Besides being a bit more yaw happy, brass cased, and having been made by a country that no longer exists, is there anything else about it that's any better than a box of Golden Tiger?

Brass cased, copper jacketed ammo that actually has desirable wound characteristics is a pretty great concept. It is corrosive though.

In theory it's a much, much better combat round than M43-pattern 7.62x39. The only thing it offers for range plinking is that, having no steel composition, indoor ranges and shitty outdoor ranges won't have a problem with it like they do with bimetal ammo.

I think the RAS Elite stuff is pretty similar without the corrosive element, costs about the same as 5.56 though.

While all of you faggots are enjoying your pretty Zastava M70s I'm sitting here some 50 km from the fucking factory unable to own that shit. Anyway, I digress. Some good folks started importing some Saiga AKs but since everything gun related is obscure in this country, I can't figure out what exactly is it that they are selling. The pic related is from their website and it's designated Saiga 223, while they have another model designated Saiga 7,62x39.
