Why isn't DARPA pursuing this design instead of stupid humanoid shit?

Humanoids robots perform like this.
A humanoid design with fucking servos yields no performance benefit
>but humans are more efficient at walking
Humans aren't fucking robots

People already dont trust Human Cops, what makes you think they wont go full luddite mode on something that looks its from War of the Worlds.

>something that looks its from War of the Worlds

People like backflips. If WotW tripods did backflips like the robot in the video, the common man would be more accepting as they patrolled the community. Not to mention, robots would be better used in high-crime, urban environs.

Even DARPA has to beg out of touch, senile congressmen for funding.

Humanoid robots serve no purpose on the battlefield

If it has to have legs, give it 4 legs, a flexible backbone, and a counter balancing tail.

humanoid bots are the only bots that will interface with human made shit. simple as that.
redesign the bot instead of redesigning everything else

When was the last time you say a humanoid run 60mph?

>interface with human made shit
>it has to be bipedal otherwise it can't pull a trigger, open a door, flip a switch

That's like burning a forest down to find your lost wallet. A robot has many uses besides using a doorknob. It shouldn't be built around using a doorknob. An arm on top of a quadruped fixes most of these non-issues.

If we design hallways and shot for said robots 30 years ago then yeah I could see it work but many point is going to dangerous places like Chernobyl without harming a fleshy unit. Apparently despite being over populated we care about flesh well being.
