Yeah, that'd be for an external choke, probably a Poly-Choke. Adjustable screw-on design, more common in the '50s and '60s (and before) than now, most new guns use an internal-threaded interchangeable system, though there is an argument to be made for the versatility of something like a Poly-Choke.
