is MI worth the price over cheaper alternative like UTG or stubborn mule?
>>
>>29494524
UTG is literally shit. Like airsoft quality.

MI is 1000000% better
>>
>>29494524
I wouldnt buy that since it looks like shit.

That's weird, your screen must be displaying a different post I replied to. I could have sworn I replied to the OP instead of you.

MI rails are way cheaper and typically lighter than DD rails. Quality is the same. Hope you enjoy paying for the name.

As an MI rail owner, this is totally bullshit.

MI rails are not the same quality as DD or Noveske, but are passable rails.
>>
>>29494654
Quad rails are outdated as fuck. Name one reason why you need all that unused rail real estate and extra weight.
>>
>>29494851
DD makes Keymod rails as well.

BCM, Noveske, Giselle, and KAC are other gucci options.

I threw a UTG on mine and looks good and functions fine.
Can you actually explain why it's "shit"?
>>

ehhhhhh
>>
>>29494884
UTG (under the gun) was an import name for airsoft metal and plastic components from China about 10 years ago or more. they branched out into making better quality airsoft accessories for cheap and competed with other companies. eventually they were bought by an actual weapons manufacturer in china and in partnership with Classic Army, started making much higher quality metal stuff for the airsoft market. they then branched out into .22LR and other real gun parts - mostly accessories.

currently they are ATI tier, but with the cheap price and lack of fine finish, you get decent steel and aluminum parts that work for what they do.
>>
>>29494811
so MI rails are mediocre?

any opinions on this?

>>29494929
Okay, thanks. That's all I expected buying a low profile 15" rail for $120.
All I can say is that I like it.

Just how heavy would a DD omega 9 make my ar15? I specificly want a quadrail but don't want to cheap out at the same time.
>>
>>29494524
DD, Geissele, KAC, PRI, Noveske all make great handguards
>>
>>29494974
it would add just under 1 lb to the front.

most loaded midlength ar-15's with only basic furniture are around 7.5 lbs depending on barrel profile.

Out of stock and they're for carbine length. Honestly, as much as midlengths are objectively better than carbine length, I really regret not getting carbine. I like the 7 inch handguards for carbines.

If I could do it again, I would have got a 14.5 pinned carbine upper tbqh

I never said anything about DD, they make great stuff. I was just commenting that there are much better options available now that Mlok and Shelfmod rails are the norm.
>>
>>29495088
>>29495058
yeah, UTG is alright, some brand whores are married to a label is all. if it works for you, and you like it, then go for it. UTG quads were nice because they were beefy and heavy as fuck and could really take a beating if you banged your rifle aroudn on stuff. they've been discontinued for a while now though.
>>
>>29494880

If DD would start selling them cut for MLOK instead of dickmod, I'd buy one to replace my MFR in a heartbeat.
>>
>>29495161
Why do most brands use shelfmod over mlok?
>>
>>29495173
ibs free
>>
>>29495173

It's just been out longer, more time for slow brained corporate executives to approve a new product.

I don't mind KeyMod, I just think it's going to fall out of favor while MLOK continues to gain ground. I don't want to replace my outdated rail system (one of the very first modular rails for that matter) with one that is soon to be outdated.
>>
>>29495196
mlok is too
>>
>>29495173
Because it's got what plants crave.

SHOT 2016 had dickmod on grenade launchers and even Barret has begun using it as their standard attachment system on their rifles.

ALG (Geissele's budget division), is a very solid rail, the barrel nut to rail interface is far more robust than the MI design. Did I mention it's cheaper as well?
>>
>>29494922
The Magnesium alloy they had going was pretty GOAT, I'd say tha KMR Alpha is only marginally "better" than a MI gen 3 rail.

So more Key Mod offerings make me happier.

>>29495210
I don't think Key Mod will ever go away...same with regular picatinny rails.

In the end will be personal preference...but for most military types, the preferred option to MIL-STD-1913 rails and accessories for special forces is Key Mod accessories from Knight's Armament.
>>
>>29494811
They are machined aluminum. You are a brand whore faggot.
>>
>>29494524
I just bought something like that, was surprised to find it on a PSA sale upper.
>>
>>29496545
And I respect your opinion...the square sections are nice on the eyes as well.

I think the only rail system that might be kicked in the pants is Troy's Alpha rails, which are giant holes which are advertised to aid in heat dispersal, but I feel Key Mod and especially M-Lok can do it better.

And just looking at their website, Troy is offering Key Mod and M-Lok variants of their Alpha Rail, because I think they too knew they'd be left in the dust if they stubbornly sticked to their system.

>>
>>29495161
Their next generation MFR is MLok. However the DD M-Lok rail won't share the same barrel nut or bolt up plate so if you already have the DDM4 or Slim rail you will have to do a lot of work to move to the M-Lok handguard.
>>
>>29494654
>Daniel Defense

Heavy antique cheese grater rails are antique and heavy. They are good for a budget gun if you can find one for $100 and dont mind looking like your operating in 2008
>>
>>29496438
Love it. It's light, slim and sexy

A 12" would definitely go over a carbine length and probably a mid length
>>
>>29496438
Carbine or mid gas yes, rifle length gas, no. Not who you were asking, but it's a fantastic rail, especially considering the price.
>>
>>29497260
They have keymod and are coming out with M-Lok.

Also, who buys used things lmao? Literally cuck shit.

This. while we can definitely say other brands have better free float rails, MI drop in aluminum rails for either standard pic, key mod or M-Lok is a definite improvement over a stock ribbed clam shell hand guard and is on par with a magpul polymer replacement as far as being a go to economical upgrade.

So once again, if your free floating...get a different system ranging from DD to BCM but for delta ring fixed front sight post rifles, the MI is not a bad replacement for stock parts.
>>
seekins mcsr
>>
>>29497690
so you made the front of your gun heavier and have nothing on it for the benefit of 1913 and keymod. how is that an upgrade over the GI A2 handguards? i guess it mitigates muzzle climb a little.
>>
>>29498646
They have three...no four rail options...pick your poison.
