1911s are shitty carry pistols, they are heavy and large. Anything smaller than a Commander sized will also be rather unreliable unless it's something like the P938.

.40 and .45 are both meme rounds for people who don't understand ballistics, such as yourself. "Glocknade" is a meme from gen 2 Glock 22s not being able to handle overpressure ammo that they weren't rated for, which was promptly fixed. That being said, there are tons of good carry pistols that aren't Glocks.

I own a Nighthawk GRP and STI Marauder and love them. I would carry either, if i got the inclination, but i mostly carry a glock 19.
