Spears and halberds would be the milsurp and BRs, with swords being the intermediates or for richfags.

Thou doth not /need/ a sword, a dagger shalt suffice for any altercation until the feudal constabulary arrives

Beholdeth, mine Katannae from far Cathay!
A mighty warrior of skill exceptional weildeth a blade so perfect, superior to these, mine western arms.
>>
What is even the point of Longbowmen?
Crossbows can be given to any peasant, and you don't train them to actually be dangerous
>>
>>29451092

To fight light armor peeps, specially those like peasents...Plus for the normal ppl who wore just chain mail, that a lot of them did wear, they had special arrow tips that easily penetrated that. Crossbow is like a musket, takes a billion yrs to load. A bow doesn't take forever to learn, plus when you fire in a volley, aim doesn't matter as much.

>medieval /k/

stop being a special snowflake and just use bows, why the fuck do you want a "crossbow" that does the same thing??? LOGISTICS WINS WARS FAGGOT.

Knights will NEVER be a real thing, it's just too expensive, plus anyone can just kill the horse and you are fucked, they are totally unrealistic, stop pushing your weaboo fantasies onto everything!

Lol good luck fighting with your musket when it's raining, what are you going to do, get god to clear the skies?
>>

We'd circlejerk Zweihanders while spear fags act all superior.

Fuck off with thine wood/metall hybrid polearms, a good sword is all you ever need.
You don't need to kill that guy from 6 feet away.
>>
>>29449635
Medieval /k/ would be serfs running around with scraps of parchment that contain packets of data. It would take a shitton of serfs to keep the packets moving. You'd get 404 errors that would last for days.

And people would still shitpost, making more serfs have to run packets just to deal with /pol/ encroaching on /k/, or yet another glock-vs-sig thread, or gear shit, or stories about people nd'ing their longbows.

I seriously doubt that any no guns from /k/ would last long, but some one of some skill must be able to survive pre 1890 there's has got to be one weird mother fucker who knows his shit?
>>

Fuck off, knightfag. You're just pissy your sidearm is clearly an inferior pos compared to polearms in general.
>>
>>29449693
Swords weren't really that expensive. You could buy a used sword cheap as fuck in the 13th-15th centuries. That's as far back as I know prices on such things to be documented.

Gong farmers.

and what I mean is, /k/ is universally ignorant of anything that actually took place pre 1890. perhaps pre-1860, if you're generous - some are into the civil war.

Half of them think the medieval era was knights who couldnt get up if knocked over, the other half just yell "get a gun" at the very mention of anything historical. It is simply utterly unaware of even the most basic details of what the past was like.

and therefore, I would conclude that medieval /k/ would be like a bunch of illiterate gong-farmers, sitting round a table - with all the depth of learning you'd expect from such a figure.

>and what I mean is, /k/ is universally ignorant of anything that actually took place pre 1890. perhaps pre-1860, if you're generous - some are into the civil war.

Thats because everything in that era and before is basically irrelevant. History is all the same shit up until the advent of the gun, which made every man equal in skill and importance.

I went to the parapets to defend thy lord from the unwashed brigand horde, when a fellow soldeir armed with a crude shoulder cannon came by and shot an unforunate brigand in the face. My friend said "hah these muskets are a fad my friend! A real soldier knows how to fight with longbow not these crude things!" Then he took a bolt to the throat and died.

>>
>>29453357
"every man from 16 to 50 and upwards, gott himself into such armes as they could presently attaine, or could imagine be conduceable for the defence of the towne". "some companies of foote.. with their musketts... began to wade foarde, which being descried, we, with our bowes and arrows did so gaule them (being unarmed men) that with their utmost speed they did retreate"

This is from the start of the English Civil War, in the middle of the 17th century. Militia still had bowmen, at least in some places.

Around that time a lot of armies in europe where phasing out the longbow right? I want to be alive when the world start using laser or plasma weapons
>>
>>29453465
In Western Europe, they were practically gone altogether in most professional armies. Hell, even the matchlock was being slowly replaced by flintlock muskets and rifles.

But England was a bit of an exception, and was (arguably) backwards compared to the likes of Spain and France. The billhook and longbow remained extremely popular - training with the latter continued to be enforced by law throughout the 16th century - and didn't really go out of fashion for a good while longer.

I imagine that longbows in the hands of trained archers were still viable and effective battlefield weapons until the invention of repeating firearms.

but archers were pretty much in non usage once firearms became able to be issued en masse with little training

This. It took quite a bit of training to use a long bow

>>29453095
Why isn't this a thing?
>>
>>29455023

Hence the "trained archers" qualifier. It was easier to learn how to use a gun that to effectively use a bow.

That said, I think if you did go to the effort to get a bunch of archers properly trained and pit them against a similarly sized group of guys with muzzle-loading blackpowder muskets, the archers could compete. They could even have an edge, at least in rate of fire.
