What's the best 5.56 rifle I can buy with 2,500 /k/. It doesn't have to be a AR15 can be any platform.

Daniel defense. Its usually around 1500-1700, then you can spend the rest on an expensive optic be it acog, aimpoint, or vortex.

an AR15 built from BCM parts plus whatever trigger/ambi controls, a good optic and sling, and plenty of ammo.

of course it won't be special snowflake enough for this crowd so go ahead and spend too much money on a gun that offers no benefit to what's listed above. be different just like everyone else.

A little off the beat, but maybe pre-order an MDR if you don't want to build yourself a sweet AR15? I pre-ordered one, they begin shipping in June or July supposedly.

A $2500 ar15 build, before optics, would be just about my dream rifle. I think I've got $1400 maybe into my rifle and I love it. Id come in under budget too.
Scar 16 is really fucking awesome. I got to play with one once, and it shot nice. Since I already have an ar15, Id jump for the scar with that budget if I had to pick another 5.56 rifle.

Avoid piston ar15s like the plague
>>29349721
Cool lower, but not even the best rails in the industry, especially since they no longer come with the urx 3.0. Gessielle is a better trigger, DD a better handguard. I would rather build an ar15 on a $1500 budget than have an sr15
>gessielle trigger
>DD rail
>bcm 14.5 midgas upper with surefire flash hider
>standard non ambi lower, even though I am lefty.

>>29349747
Im a fucking tripfag and I'm right there with you. I don't get the NiB/cryptic meme. It's not that hard to clean an ar15. There's a lot of bullshit out there
>>
Get a Sig MCX

>AR15 with unique buffer tube allows side-folding
>Extremely light weight
>1MOA or better out of the box

Get a decent 3-9x or 4-12x and a bipod or a red dot with the leftover cash (Rifle is usually 1600). Consider buying a trigger (ALG makes a budget one I think?) as it's poor quality compared to the rest of the rifle but still average at least
>>
>>29349650
Did just fine sorry that your a poorfag
>>
>>29349916
1. It's a short stroke gas piston with no buffer tube
2. It's lightweight for a piston, but it's only inside regular ar15 territory. It's still above 6 pounds
3. With what ammo? Lots of ar15s can do that. DD, BCM, lmt, lwrc, kac, any company that uses a decent barrel to hit moa. Even shooting m193 I get 2 inches @ 100 yards
4. Skip alg triggers. For the $40-$60, you don't get a trigger significantly better than milspec. Youre better saving your pennies for at least a gessielle g2s.
>>
>>29349984
To clarify I liked the mcx. But I like regular ar15s more.

Palmetto complete lower, your choice of BCM upper and bolt carrier with a gunfighter charging handle.

Buy an aimpoint pro for $400 and spend the rest on a plate carrier mags and ammo and you're a tier one operator now
>>
>>29349156
Where can you even get one of these? I haven't seen any on sale anywhere.

Looking to build an AR, what is the best completed upper I can get for $1000, looking for 14.5 barrel and keymod. Thanks
>>
>>29350663

Shop around. Thunderguns has good deals and neat uppers, Noveske sells complete god tier uppers if you can finagle a way to afford one. Too high to think of any others, but that's two examples right there.
>>
>>29350005
Can't afford a optic
>>
>>29350663
get a stripped they are piss easy to assemble.
>>
>>29350198
does that somehow negate his endorsement of the MCX? Is there a point you're alluding to?
>>
>>29348626

Build a nice AR and get a good optic for it too
>>
>>29350663
Just the upper? BCM. I don't know if you could get a Daniel defense lite rail slim upper under 1k, but if you could do it. DD lowers kinda suck, with shit furniture and a bad lpk. Bad selectors poor triggers.
>>
>>29348626

>>
>>29348626
sig 556 and then get custom green furniture and grey cerakote
>>
>>29348626

A good AR15 build. 16 inch match nitrided barrel, BCM KMR hand guard, Geissele National Match or SSA trigger, Young National Match chrome plated carrier. Forged aluminum lower and upper, and the furniture of your choice.
>>
>>29350756
Just saying that if you want an AR you can buy one for less than the cost of the MCX. Unless you want proprietary everything. I get it, the folding stock is nice on an AR platform rifle but that hardly justifies the price.
>>
>>29353703
They can be be found for ~1400 on gunbroker pretty often. I'm not one to call people poorfags but it's wholly unrealistic to imagine a lower price for a new 5.56 rifle that's this early into its initial production. What other non ar15 556 rifle is that cheap?
>>
>>29353855
The SIG 556XI. I paid $1100 for mine new.
>>
>>29353949
I didn't realize how cheap those had gotten; when you're right you're right.

That being said, when looking at other competing non standard 556 rifles like the 16S, ACR, Tavor, ARX, etc, the MCX is still on the cheaper end of the spectrum. I suppose my autism flare up is because I've never heard of anyone complaining about the MCX price considering some of the previously mentioned non standard 556 rifles had initial MSRP's closer to 3k
>>
>>29354049
My main complaint is that people act like the MCX is something special when all it is is a gas piston AR with non-standard parts. I'm not sure, other than the folding stock, what the selling point or the appeal of the MCX is.

>>29354287
At this point you may have assumed that I have a MCX, which would be true, so take my biased opinion with a grain of salt: It appeals to me because of how light the gun is considering the barrel length and rail length, plus the folding/telescoping stock, plus the acceptable price point, plus the familiarity of AR controls. (That's not to say I dislike the controls on the ACR, SCAR, or whatever, I'm just more comfortable with an AR)

To me, the MCX felt like the next logical improvement over the AR15, without losing the AR15's benefits.

However, I can see how the similarities with the AR15 can be perceived as a negative if you're not invested in AR15 controls or you're just in the market for a completely different style of weapon.
>>
Just build one desu, prebuilt gucci ARs are overpriced and you're better off having plenty of money left for a sight, because if you get an expensive AR and dont get a sight youre fucking retarded
>>
>>29354371
I'm not a fan of ARs. I don't like their controls or the overall design. That's my opinion. So for me, the MCX doesn't appeal to me. Same holds for the MPX which is really just a gas piston AR in 9mm. I understand why SIG would go the route of keeping everything similar to an AR because of the AR's popularity.

I'm too accustomed to having a charging handle on the side.

I want to get an SR-15 but it also maxes my budget. Really torn between getting a good optic and rolling with a ddm4v11 or BCM build.
I can get the optic, it will just be about 2 months after. Should I get the lower priced and get optic or should I wait and pick up the sr?
>>

Didn't know they had that, thanks.

>>
>>29354492
>>29354496

I love the little guy, I wasn't sold on using the 3x30 acog on it, but it's pretty handy on the SBR

>>29354504
I wouldn't hold my breath for an MPX version. I think the point of the forward charging handle is so that it's easier to manipulate in the prone position, and it may be a requirement for whatever competition they're building it for. What I don't understand is why they are using a single spring vs the MCX's dual spring BCG in the MR
>>
>>29354485
If you want the SR15, get the SR15 bro. If you get the DD or the BCM with optic, you'll just regret it a few months from now when you could've waited. I would get the SR15, shoot irons for two months, then get the optic m8
>>
>>29354561
Yeah I'm thinking the same
anyone here own an sr-15? how good is the trigger?1
